Passed away on Friday, September 18th, 2009 at Lakeridge Health-Oshawa at the age of 28. Remembered lovingly by his mother, Charlene (Romanuk) Sutherland and his father, Ron Sutherland. Beloved grandson of Bill and Helen Romanuk. Dear brother of Faye and Jillian Sutherland. Loved nephew of Wayne and Cheryl Romanuk and Ken, Stan and Kevin Markle and cousin of Kevin and Julie. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Friends may call at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King St. West (905-721-1234) for visitation on Thursday, September 24th from 7 - 9 P.M. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Friday, September 25th at 11:00 A.M. Memorial donations to the Durham Epilepsy Society.

TOMPKINS, Esther Isabella Jane
Retired 28 year employee of Hillsdale Manor) Peacefully, at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, on Friday, September 18, 2009 in her 86th year. Loving wife of the late Vaughan Gerald Tompkins. Companion of the late Kenneth George Crowells. Dear mother of Durward Tompkins and the late Gerald Tompkins, Sandra Hall, and remembered mother-in-law of Donna MacDonald and Edward Hall. Cherished Nan to Christine (James Attersley), Heather (James Berard), Shelley (Stephen Rowe), Terri (Mark Thompson), Douglas and Christopher Hall, Randy and David MacDonald, Jared Tompkins and the late Kristin Hall and Great Nan to ten. Sister of Gwen, Rita, Ann, and predeceased by Colin, Lloyd, and Robert Cairns and Dorothy Kolisnyk. Relatives and friends will be received on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 from 12 noon until time of service in the chapel at 1:00pm at McINTOSH-ANDERSON FUNERAL HOME, 152 King St. E., Oshawa (905-433-5558). Interment to follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

ASSELS, Carman "Betty" (nee McKinnon)
Passed away at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Thursday, September 17, 2009 in her 74th year. Carmen, beloved wife of the late Kerry Assels. Loving mother of Grant and his wife Nancy, Judy and her husband Ron, Darrin, Sandy and her husband Paul, Kelly and her husband Chris, Cory and his wife Kimberly and the late Deborah and Brenda. Loved grandmother of Constance, Christie, Stephanie, Jakob, Brooklyn, Kaitlin, Paige, Jasmine, Hailey and Logan. Lovingly remembered by her brothers and sisters. Friends may pay their respects at the MORRIS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 4 Division Street, Bowmanville on Friday, September 18, 2009 from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral service in the MORRIS CHAPEL on Saturday, September 19, 2009 at 1 p.m. Cremation with interment of cremated remains in Thornton Cemetery. A remarkable lady who enjoyed life to the fullest who overcame many disabilities. Passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, on Thursday, September 17, 2009 in her 31st year. Cherished "baby girl" to Cindy Mundie and Dave Vemb. Predeceased by her father Ronald. Loving sister to Chase, Meghan, and Connor Mundie. Dear granddaughter of Robin and the late Earl Williams, Alex and the late Hilda Tabatschkow. Devoted companion of Richard "David" Cane. Will be lovingly remembered by her many aunts, uncles and their families, and her many friends. A special thank you to all ICU staff at Lakeridge Health Oshawa for their care and compassion. Relatives and friends will be received at McINTOSH-ANDERSON FUNERAL HOME, 152 King Street East, Oshawa (905-433-555) on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 from 2:00pm until time of service in the chapel at 3:00pm.
