NELSON, Harold E. L.
In his 83rd year. Formerly with Winchester Canada & Durham District Board of Education. Passed away at Taunton Mills, Whitby, on Monday, September 14th, 2009. Beloved husband of Yvette (Blair) Nelson and father of Jannine (Rick Norman), Karry (Henry Schenk), Christine (Peter Saracino), Nancy (Scott Melville) and Leanne (Rob Deman). Dear papa of Aaron (Tanya) Schenk, Andrew (Emily) Schenk, Matthew Norman, Karly Norman, Cody Deman, Bryce Deman and great-grandfather of Ava. Predeceased by his parents Everett Russell and Effie Lenora (Cooper) Nelson, his son Blair (1960), his brother Clive Nelson, sister Lillian Swayze & Ruth Peace, leaving two sisters Alice Smith and Lona Felker, and many nieces and nephews. A Service of Celebration to be held at First Baptist Church, 812 Hortop St. Oshawa, on Saturday, September 19th, 2009 at 12 noon. Donations in lieu of flowers to First Baptist Church, Parkinson's Society of Oshawa or the Children's Aid Society, Cobourg may be made through THE NORTHCUTT ELLIOTT FUNERAL HOME, 53 Division St. N. Bowmanville, with whom arrangements have been entrusted.

RONEY, Frances White Hubbard
{B.A. Vassar College, NY; L. Th. & S.T.B. Trinity College U of T
Loving wife of Rev. Jack Roney for 52 years, loving mother of Paul (Joanne Wright), Mary Anderson (Craig) & David. Grandmother to Colin & Trevor Anderson. Survived by siblings Charlotte Ballinger (Lloyd), Henry Hubbard (Betty), Bill Hubbard (Norma), and Sister-in-Law, Catherine. Predeceased by siblings Louisa Romig (Eugene) & E. Stuart Hubbard (Marguerite). Born 1924 in Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away peacefully at home in Whitby, on Sept. 14 2009 surrounded by her family. Fran was a politically active open-minded woman who loved her family, the Anglican Church, music & flowers. Memorial service to be held Sat. Sept. 19th at St. George's Anglican Church 77 Randal Dr. Ajax ON. at 10:30 A.M. Donations in lieu of flowers to St. George's Anglican Church, Pickering Village. Arrangements entrusted to W.C. TOWN FUNERAL CHAPEL .

FARNCOMBE, Norma Muriel
Norma Farncombe (nee Bassett) passed away peacefully with family by her side on September 13, 2009 at Lakeridge Health Corp. Oshawa. Norma was predeceased by her parents William and Nellie Bassett, her sister Margaret Bassett, and her husband Frank (1970). She is survived by her sons Eric (Susanne) and Murray (Gaye) and her grandchildren Matthew, Travis, Kaelen, and Kirsten. In accordance with Norma's wishes, there will be no visitation, rather a private family service with interment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto. If you choose to do so, a donation in Norma's memory to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada or the Canadian Mental Health Association would be appreciated by the family. Those arrangements can be made through McINTOSH-ANDERSON FUNERAL HOME LTD., 152 King Street East, Oshawa (905-433-5558).

JOHNSON, Eric Norman
Suddenly at his home, Eric passed away from a heart attack on Sunday, September 13, 2009. Husband, best friend and constant companion to Jackie Roth. Beloved son of the late David and Nelly Johnson. Loving father to David (Michelle) Johnson. He will be missed by his grandchildren Katelyn, Justin and Trevor Johnson. Brother to Rolf Johansson and Tina Pritchard. In Eric's memory donations may be made to a Charity of your choice.

MURPHY, Patrick William
At Lakeridge Health Bowmanville, on Monday, September 14, 2009 in his 64th year. Patrick, beloved husband of the late Carol (nee: Foskett). Loved father of Hailey (Kevin), Stacy (Kris) and Jeff (Carrie). Loving grandfather of Cole, Dylan, Emma, Nolan, Raelene and Joshua. Lovingly remembered by Patrick's dear friend Debbie. Friends may pay their respects at the MORRIS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 4 Division St., Bowmanville on Thursday, September 17, 2009 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral service in the MORRIS CHAPEL on Friday, September 18, 2009 at 11 a.m. Interment Bowmanville Cemetery. Donations in Patrick's memory to the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters would be gratefully appreciated.

TRUMBLEY, Edna Winnifred (Spence)
Passed peacefully on Sunday, September 13th, 2009 at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville in her 97th year. Predeceased by her beloved husband Donald I. Trumbley (1978). Dear mother of Doug (Judy), Gord, Elaine and Donna. Loving grandmother of Kara (Richard Novak), Kayley, Pam and Greg. Proud great-grandmother of Tristen and Maddison. Predeceased by sisters Helen, Sylvia, Margaret and her brother Jack. Lovingly remembered by Pat Trumbley and sister-in-law Jean Trumbley and Isla (Barry) Forbes. She will be sadly missed by all her family and friends. Edna served as a W.R.E.N. in the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II. A celebration of her life will take place at the W.C. TOWN FUNERAL CHAPEL, 110 Dundas Street East in Whitby on Thursday at 1P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations to Community Living Ajax, Pickering, Whitby would be appreciated.

VINCENT, Terence Stephen (Terry)
1921 - 2009
WWII Veteran, RAF
Peacefully at Strathaven Lifecare Centre in Bowmanville on September 13, 2009. Predeceased by his wives June and Beryl, his parents and both sisters. Survived by relatives in the UK. Born in Monmouth England, Terry served in the RAF during WWII as an aerial photographer. After the war he married first wife June Edelman and they immigrated to Canada. Settling in Toronto, Terry worked as a photographer and was a long-term employee of the Toronto Parking Authority. After 35 years of marriage, he lost June to cancer. Terry then married Beryl Stephens and they moved to Peterborough, where they lived for 15 years until Beryl's death in 2002. At Terry's request, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. If so desired, Memorial Donations may be made to the Charity of your Choice through THE NORTHCUTT ELLIOTT FUNERAL HOME, 53 Division St. N. Bowmanville, with whom arrangements have been entrusted.

FERDINAND, Marion Nellie
(former volunteer at Gate 3:16 Outreach Centre)
Peacefully with her family by her side at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, on Saturday, September 12, 2009, in her 79th year. Loving Ma of Marg (the late Jim), Diane (Chris), Garry, Larry (Diane), David (Cheryl), Dale (Cheryl), Dean (Pam), Jean, Donna (Michael) and Cindy (Doug). Much loved Nanny to her 28 Grandchildren and 7 Great-Grandchildren. Dear sister of Bill and the late Joe. Marion will be sadly missed by her best friends Sheryl Hunter, Cynthia and her husband Steve Taggart and Linda. Friends may call at the NEWCASTLE FUNERAL HOME, 386 Mill St. S., Newcastle (exit 440, just north of the 401) on Thursday, September 17, from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. Interment, Bond Head Cemetery, Newcastle. Memorial donations to Gate 3:16 Outreach Centre or the Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated by her family.

HOUGHTON, Doris (nee Freeman)
Passed away suddenly and peacefully on Saturday, September 12, 2009, at age 85, after a full and complete life filled with the joys of family, friendship and love. Cherished wife for 61 years of husband John, and loving mother to David, Bill and James, predeceased by Brian and Jennifer. Dear mother-in-law to Elaine, Donna and Wendy. Originally from Colne, England, a PE teacher and physiotherapist and dearest sister to Jessie, Joan (deceased) and Marston (deceased), she came to Canada with John in '48. Doris was always ready to open her heart and home to any and all; her famous family dinners will be missed by her twelve grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and grand-nieces. Longstanding member of Christ Memorial Church/ACW, Oshawa, and a fifty-plus member and former Regent of lODE, a local volunteer with Canadian Cancer Society and Heart and Stroke Foundation, Doris had a strong sense of commitment to the community; her quiet volunteering was easily given and fully appreciated. A special thank you to the emergency room doctors and staff at Rouge Valley Health Systems (Ajax-Pickering Hospital). Memorial service and interment Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at MOUNT LAWN RECEPTION CENTRE, 21 Garrard Rd., Whitby (905-443-3376). Same day visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m., service at 3:00 p.m., immediately followed by interment and reception. In lieu of flowers, please donate to The Jenny Fund, Toronto East General Hospital Foundation (www.tegh.on.ca) or a charity of your choice.

PHILLIPS, Lilian 'Lily' Mary
Peacefully at Marnwood Lifecare Centre Bowmanville on Saturday, September 12, 2009, Lily in her 103rd year. Beloved wife of the late Len Phillips. Loving mother of Reg and his late wife Laura. Fondly remembered by her grandchildren Paul Phillips and his wife Cindy Milling and Susan McMullen and her husband Phil, all of Oshawa and Mark Phillips of B.C.; and her great-grandchildren Tarah, Krysti, Emily, David, Cole, Kevin, Ryan and Olivia. Predeceased by her sister Dorrie.
