Survived by his step children Kim Smith (Dave), Randall Smith, Pamela Smith, Kevin Smith (Cindy), and Michael Smith. Sam was a member of the Knights of Columbus - St. Gregory's Council. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a loving partner and father. He is survived by his partner, Maureen, his daughter, Jennifer, Son-in-Law, Ian Fohr and his son, Robin. Ray will also be missed by his mother, Peg Cooke, brothers, Derek and Terry and their families in England and extended family in Ireland, Australia, and Canada. After a courageous battle with cancer, on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at his home, at age 67. Lorne Jones of Chalk Lake, beloved husband of Doreen (nee Harnden). Loved father of Kevin Jones and his wife Beth of Chalk Lake, Sherri and her husband Rick Grieveson of Port Perry, Brian Jones of Uxbridge, Mike Jones and his wife Sue of Baysville, Tracie and her husband Harvey Van der ligt of Uxbridge. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, his great-grandchild, his brothers and sisters and their families. BLAKE, Calvin Clair
Willful to the end, Cal passed peacefully, released from his battle with cancer and diabetes, at the Port Perry Community Hospital on Tuesday morning, September 8, 2009. Friends and family celebrated Calvin's life at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, on September 11, 2009. He was born June 23, 1928 in Haldimand Township, Northumberland County. Cal's parents were John Bartlett Blake and Jessie Marie Dawson. Surviving Calvin are his sisters Leila (Harry) Tresise and Margaret Buckley of Oshawa. Predeceasing him are his sisters Marion Blake, Donna Luke, Shirley Hill, Mildred Bruce and brother Murray Blake. His son Stuart Dawson Blake is fondly and forever remembered. He leaves behind his wife Miriam Renison-Blake. For more than 55 years Calvin celebrated marriage and life with the late Elizabeth Blake (nee Clement). Calvin lives on through his 5 children, 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren: Laurie (Walter) Senyk, Stephen (Gaynor) Blake, Graham (Mary) Blake, Leesa (Ian Jay) Blake, Leslie (Kevin Cirtwell) Bond. Calvin loved his life in Oshawa, maintaining strong and varied connections to his community throughout his life. He was employed early on at General Motors, followed by the London Life Insurance Company and later the Singer Sewing Machine Company. Calvin's dynamic personality contributed to his successful retail skills (Honest Cal's) and his passion for real estate investment. Cal also enjoyed an avid and active interest in municipal and regional politics. His charitable donations of choice are the Diabetes Association, the Alzheimer Society and the Salvation Army. Donations to the Charity of your choice will also be appreciated in Calvin's memory.

It is with great sadness that Ted's family announces his passing on Tuesday, September 8, 2009, in his 81st year. Beloved husband of the late Lucille Brooks. Father of Nadine Olafsen & her husband, David, Kathryn Chenier & her partner, Ken O'Connor, Allison Chenier & her husband, Bruce Rich, and Tracey Chenier & her husband, John Bakker. Grandfather of Robert & Daniel Olafsen, Amy & Frank Belbin, and Sarah & Adam Bakker. Born in Peterborough, Ontario in 1928, son of the late Albert Chenier & the late Ida Boucher. Brother of the late Doris Speakman and the late Cecile Heffernan. Survived by his sister Theresa Plaskitt & her husband Bob. Ted retired in 1988 after 32 years as a shareholder and Executive Vice President of Ruddy Electric Wholesale. Ted was a Past Director of the Oshawa Rotary Club, Past Director of Oshawa Golf Club, Past President of Oshawa Chamber of Commerce, Past Director of United Way Campaign, a member of the Oshawa Curling Club and a member of the Harvard Business School Club. Ted was a trustee of Campbell Children's School for 16 years. Resting at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East, Oshawa with Complete Mass of Christian Burial in the Church of St. Gregory the Great on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 10 a.m. with reception to follow. Peacefully, on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 in her 90th year. Vera (nee Thomas) was predeceased in 1987 by her much beloved husband of 45 years, Frank Hazlehurst.
