Passed away peacefully on January 27th, 2007 at Etobicoke General Hospital in her 44th year. Beloved daughter of the late Edmund and May Saunders. Most adored sister of Trevor, sister-in-law, Sheree, Sharon, Denver and favorite aunt of Adam and Kyle. Loved niece of Derek and Laureen Saunders (St. Catherine's), Una and Frank Zerf (Aurora), Granville Saunders, Rita Cummings, Allan Saunders (all of Cape Town, South Africa), and Heather Johnson (Australia). She will be sadly missed by all her cousins and many friends and co-workers at Chrysler. Passed away peacefully on January 27th, 2007 at Walnut Grove, Oshawa at 83 years of age. Wife of the late Alexander Hill (2004). She is survived by her daughter, Alexandra Morin, son-in-law Leo, grandchildren Victoria, Andrew (Katrina), great-granddaughter Caroline, and nephew, John Megarry (Sharron). Predeceased by brothers, George, David and Harry and sister, Violet. Fondly remembered by her sisters, Emily Boyd, Annie Megarry and Ena Carson all of Belfast, Northern Ireland. Her family sincerely thank the staff of Walnut Grove, Oshawa, whose care and compassion made Amelia's final days peaceful and comfortable. Entered into rest after a courageous battle on Saturday, January 27, 2007 at the age of 24. Beloved daughter of Robyn and Harold Strutt, John Inglis and Connie Saumur. Loving sister of Daniel and Rachel and dear step-sister of Megan. Aunt to Logan. Loving granddaughter of Joan Orrett of Ajax and Bob Orrett of Oshawa. Predeceased by grandparents, John and Ruth Inglis. She will be deeply missed by her many aunts, uncles, family and friends. A special thank you to the Nurses and Staff involved in Rebecca's home care and the Staff of ICU and Emergency Departments at the Ajax/Pickering Hospital as well as family and friends, for the love and support that we have received throughout the 24 years that Rebecca shared with us. (Member of Murray St. Baptist Church for over 20 years, 40-year board member with the Peterborough Fair Board, member of the Peterborough Horticultural Society for 25 years, and an avid rose gardener) - after a lengthy battle with cancer and arthritis at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, with her family at her side, on Saturday, January 27, 2007, in her 81st year. Devoted wife of Glen Ketchabaw. Caring mother of Bonnie and her husband Jerry Scott, and Brenda and her husband Dan Gerigs, all of Peterborough. Dear grandmother of Geoff, Lorrie and Melissa and great-grandmother of Bailey. Margaret will be sadly missed by her sister Dorothy Lebow, her nephews, Bill and Jim, and all of her extended family and friends. LAILA SILLANPAA (nee MAENPAA)
It is with great sadness that our family announces the sudden passing of our mom and grandma, Laila, aged 76 years, on Saturday, January 27, 2007, at the Village Retirement Centre in Pickering. Predeceased by her beloved husband Bill and her daughter Cheryl. Much loved mom to Lynn and husband, Peter West; cherished grandma to Courtney and husband James Ruddle, Matthew and Rebecca. Aunt to Susan Johnston, Doug Maenpaa, David (Lisa) Maenpaa, and Barb Langley. Predeceased by her sister, Eila (survived by husband James Johnston) and brother Leonard (survived by wife Lillian Maenpaa). Laila was born in Waters Township and lived most of her life in Sudbury. She will be fondly remembered by her friends and family, here and in Finland. Her family would like to thank her caregivers and hairdressers for their compassionate support. Special thanks to Dr. Tanious and Dr. Weber. God bless you all. Interment will take place in the Spring in Sudbury.
