GRAINE, John Ernest
Peacefully at Hillsdale Terraces on Tuesday, February 27th, 2006 in his 83rd year. Beloved husband of the late Mary. Loving father of Laura (Walter) Malarczuk of Brechin and Josephine (Adrian) Vanhemmen of Oshawa. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Todd (Kathleen) Malarczuk, Natalie Malarczuk; David (Peggy) Vanhemmen and Jackie (Shawn) Smith; and his great-grandchildren Sayde and Dante Smith; Misty Jo and Tyler McLean; Molly and Katie Malarczuk. John was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Luella and his stepmother Florence, his 3 brothers, Barney, Clinton and Kenneth and his 2 sisters Margaret and Gladys. He is survived by his sisters-in-law; Joan, Margaret and Mary. Friends may call at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King St. West (905-721-1234) for visitation on Friday, March 2nd from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. GERTRUDE'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 690 King St. E., Oshawa on Saturday, March 3rd at 10:00 A.M. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. McLAUGHLIN, John D.
Peacefully at Lakeridge Health - Oshawa on February 26th, 2007 at the age of 72. Beloved father of Sonja (Stephen), Gerald (Pam) and Martha (Stephen). Loving grandfather (Popop) to Ross, John, Glen, Alexis and Serena. Dear brother of Gale, Grand Manan, N.B. Cousin of Sally Foster, Friendship, Maine and Elaine Maker, Grand Manan. John will be missed by his special friend Carmel Lauzon. He is also survived by his ex-wife Myrna McLaughlin. John suffered a stroke in 2005 which weakened his body but not his mind, nor his resolve to live. Born August 10, 1934 on Grand Manan Island, N.B., he was the son of Gerald and Doris (Wilcox) McLaughlin. John graduated from Dalhousie University (B.Comm.) and moved to Oshawa in 1955. He worked in the accounting department of General Motors for 5 years and then completed a LLB at Queen's in 1963. He was most recently employed at Millwork Home Building Centre, Pickering. He served his community well as both City Councillor and Durham Regional Councillor for ten years. John was on the Oshawa Board of Control and served on many committees including Parks and Property, Planning and Development and Public Works. A member of the Board of Governors of Durham College, he also sat on the Boards of the Oshawa Senior Citizen's Centre, the Oshawa Public Library and the Oshawa Historical Society. He was a founding member of the board which established Cheshire Home for the disabled. He was a former member of the Kiwanis Club of Oshawa and was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Oshawa. John was an athlete and avid sports fan. At Dalhousie University he was the leading scorer and Captain of the men's basketball team. Passions were golf and baseball, especially his beloved Boston Red Sox. McQUAY, Lois (nee Kidd)
Peacefully following a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family, at Lakeridge Health-Whitby on Tuesday, February 27th, 2007, in her 80th year. Beloved wife of Donald W. McQuay. Loving mother of Robin Chance and her husband Patrick and Kim McQuay and his wife Muna. Devoted Grandmother of Lauren, Evan, Liam, and Praccho. Dear sister of Audrey Hanna of Calgary, Wayne Kidd of London, and the late Donald Kidd of Whitby. Daughter of the late Stanley and Aleen Kidd of Markdale. Stepdaughter of the late John Kidd of Caledon. Remembered by the many friends and relatives who brought her great joy. The family expresses its heartfelt thanks to the medical professionals who extended extraordinary care and support to Lois during her illness: Dr. Francis Kwan, Dr. Kenneth Woolfson, Dr. Rafal Wierzbicki, Dr. Nicole Devost and colleagues at Lakeridge Health- Oshawa, and Ms. Michelle Acorn and colleagues at Lakeridge Health- Whitby. STONE, Richard

Suddenly passed away on Monday, February 26, 2007 at Marnwood Life Care Centre (Bowmanville) in his 56th year. Beloved husband of Katherine for 37 years. Devoted and loving father of Crystal ( Fred), Charlene (Mark) and Carrie (Rob). Proud and cherished 'Poppy' of Ken, Madison and Kacie, Torianna, Dakota and Cassidy, Darcy and much anticipated new baby granddaughter. Richard will be sadly missed by his father, 7 brothers and sisters and families. A private memorial service will be held at MOUNT LAWN RECEPTION CENTRE (905)665-0600 at a later date. EWERT, Edwin L., M.D.C.M. "Doc"
(Captain in the Medical Corps during WWII; Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 788; Life Member of the Bowmanville Lions Club, Charter Member of Rosthern, Sask. Lions Club and Melvin Jones recipient.)
Peacefully after a lengthy illness at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Sunday, February 25, in his 90th year. He started his career as an army doctor overseas, came back to serve as a country doctor in Rosthern, Sask., was the former Chief of Staff at Bowmanville Memorial Hospital, and retired as a family physician in private practice. He was always very proud of the number of babies he brought into the world; loved golf, curling, bridge, traveling, and most of all his family. Ed is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Ethna. Dear father of Leslie, Charles and his wife Kathy, Andrea McKay and her husband Harry, and Margaret "Mugs." Sadly missed by grandchildren Robyn and her husband Earl Vickers, Jennyn, Cameron, Andrew, and great-grandchildren Krystyn, Ben, and Abbey. Survived by brothers Orin and Melvin, and predeceased by 12 other brothers and sisters. Ed's family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Hoy and all of the caring staff at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville, as well as to the staff and his many friends at Compassion House. Following cremation, friends may call at the NEWCASTLE FUNERAL HOME, 386 Mill St. S. (just north of 401 at the lights) on Thursday, March 1, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Friday, March 2, at 1:00 p.m., followed by a luncheon in the reception room. McCULLOUGH, Norah
Passed away in her 88th year, on Sunday, February 25, 2007, at the Lakeridge Health Centre in Port Perry, surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of Harold McCullough (deceased 1990). Mother of Hal McCullough (Stasia), Peggy Copps (Al), and Jim McCullough (Kathy). Grandmother to Scott (Sheri), Tracy, Jacquie, Laura (Tony), Alec (Melissa), Maureen, and Jimmy. Great- grandmother of Anthony, Nicholas, Rebecca, Kaitlin, Shannon, and Olivia. Predeceased by her brothers George, Frank and Gordon, and her sister Marg. The Family of Norah McCullough will receive friends at the WAGG FUNERAL HOME "McDermott-Panabaker Chapel", 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905- 985-2171) on Thursday, March 1st from 10-11 a.m. A Service to celebrate her life will be held in the Chapel at 11 a.m. with Reverend Dr. John Sullivan officiating. A reception will follow the service. If desired, memorial donations may be made by cheque to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
