AKEY, William (Bill)

Peacefully, at the Brockville General Hospital with his wife by his side on Friday, August 24, 2007, Neil William (Bill) Akey of Brockville, age 68 years. Beloved husband of the former Phyllis Dawn Bunn. Dear dad of Andrew Akey and his wife Julie of Smiths Falls and Donald Akey of Brockville. Survived by step-grandson Cody and a sister Edith Vivian Kazmirchuk and her husband Myron of Brampton as well as three nephews David, Robert and Greg and a cousin Norma Bluette and her husband Norman of Hamilton. Predeceased by a son in infancy, Andrew’s twin and his parents Clarence William Akey and his wife Edith Alice (Tomlinson) Akey.
Friends may call at the Barclay Funeral Home, 137 Pearl Street East, Brockville on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Thursday, August 30, 2007 at 11 a.m. Interment will be at later date. In lieu of flowers in memoriams to the Brockville General Hospital Foundation, Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Ottawa Heart Institute would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.

CONLEY, John
Peacefully, with his wife, family and friends by his side at the Brockville General Hospital, Charles Street Site on Friday, August 24, 2007, Hugh John Conley of Brockville, age 89 years. Beloved husband of the former G. Edna Davidson. Survived by a special nephew Brian Deines and his wife Rita of Brockville. Uncle of Lloyd Conley (Debbie) of Ottawa, Lois Grant (Ritchie) of South Mountain, Lorraine MacIntyre (Ian) of Ottawa, Janice Harrison-MacDonald (Lee) of Cardinal, Carolyn Fowler (Bill) of Hartington and Brenda McCarthy (Al) of Paisley as well as several great-nieces and nephews. Also survived by a sister-in-law Ruby Deines at St. Lawrence Lodge and special friends Gordon and Sherry Marriner and Mary Jane Fleury, all of Brockville. Predeceased by his parents Robert Henry Conley and his wife Ellen (Ella) Perry Conley and brothers Howard Conley and his Irene and Lorne Conley and his wife Eileen.
Friends called at the Barclay Funeral Home, 137 Pearl Street East, Brockville on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Monday, August 27, 2007 at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Oxford Mills Anglican Cemetery. In memoriams to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or St. John’s United Church would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.

EATON, Jack
Peacefully at Kingston General Hospital on Saturday, August 25, 2007. Jack Eaton of Seeley’s Bay, in his 86th year. Beloved husband of Doris Kent. Predeceased by his first wife, Edith Boyd. Dear father of Donna Serson (Garry) of Seeley's Bay, Gay Campbell (Mark) of Battersea, Kim Noussis (Jim) of Carleton Place. Predeceased by daughter, Jo Anne Burgin. Dear brother of Marion Smith (Angus) of Oshawa. Predeceased by brother, Harold Eaton. Fondly remembered by eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the Scotland Funeral Home, 27 Main Street, Elgin, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service in the Chapel on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. Interment Olivet Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations made to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

HALLIDAY, Shirley
Peacefully, at the Brockville General Hospital on Saturday, August 25, 2007., Shirley Chisholm of Delta, in her 78th year. Widow of Eldon Halliday. Dear mother of Donna McDougall and her husband David of Kingston, Peggy Fuller and her husband Richard Raison of Delta. Dear sister of Ted Chisholm and Arnold Besley of Brockville. Predeceased by sisters Marion Wright and Serena Coon. Fondly remembered by grandchildren Allison, Amanda (Ted), Morgan (Adam) and Rachel. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Scotland Funeral Home, 27 Main Street, Elgin on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service in the Chapel on Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock. Interment Holy Trinity Cemetery, Oak Leaf. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations made to St. Lawrence Lodge, Brockville or the Community Health Services-Canadian Red Cross would be appreciated by the family.

MURRAY, Margaret Anne (nee Scott)
Passed away peacefully on August 23, 2007, with her family surrounded by her side at the Kingston General Hospital in her 66th year. She will be lovingly missed by her husband of 43 years, Mike. Cherished mom to Lisa (Kevin) Lake, Michele (Chris) Panos, Cathy (Anthony) Parisi, Mike (Shannon). Cherished Grammie to Cody, Taylor, Callie, Michael, Katie, Jake, Meghan, Kelsey and Nikki. Sadly missed by her brother Lou, sisters Marie and Trudy. Predeceased by her parents Leo and Winnifred Scott and her brother Leo Jr.
Family and friends will be received at the Gordon F. Tompkins Funeral Home on Sunday, August 26, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 1111 Taylor Kidd Blvd., on Monday, August 27, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. Rite of committal with prayers to follow at Glenhaven Memorial Gardens. For those wishing donations may be made to St. Paul the Apostle Church or to Crones and Colitis.

THIBAULT, Jules
At the Brockville General Hospital on Saturday, August 25, 2007, at the age of 88 years. Loving father of Madeleine Austin (Vincent) of Brockville, Micheline, Jean, Angele, Catherine, Danielle and Johanne. Dear grandfather of Leonard, Julie, Marlyne, Martin, Nancy, Normand, Albert and May. Also survived by several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Predeceased by 16 brothers and sisters.
Following cremation at the Roselawn Crematorium, Maitland a Family Service will take place in St. Georges de Windsor, Quebec at a later date. In remembrance, donations to the St. Lawrence Lodge would be gratefully acknowledged.

GUILBOARD, Douglas Eric
Entered into rest at the Brockville General Hospital on August 21, 2007 in his 83rd year. Husband of the late Kathleen Fodey Guilboard. Dear father of Brian of Ottawa, Brent (Pam), and Debbie Jonkman (Al) all of Brockville. Dear grandfather of Lucas and Brianna Guilboard and Megan and Kristen Jonkman. Dear brother of Elva Jobson and Janice Leduc. Predeceased by sisters Shirley Morris, Eleanor Beatson, Alice Haggart and by brothers George, Allan, Ford and Bruce Guilboard.
Family and friends may pay their respects at the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A celebration of Duke’s life will be held in the Chapel at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. In memoriams to the Brockville and District Hospital Foundation Residence Fund will be gratefully acknowledged.

HENDERSON, Verla Mae
Peacefully at Sherwood Park Manor, with family at her side, on August 21, 2007, Verla Mae (Stirtan) Henderson passed away in her 91st year. Predeceased by husband Mackie Henderson and first husband, James E. Martin, her parents, Alfred and Adelaide Stirtan, three sisters and two brothers and by grandson, Scott Taylor. Survived by her five children, Joan Taylor (Bob) of Overland Park, Kansas, Marilyn Wensley (Terry) of Brockville, Peter Martin (Judie) of Prescott, Jim Martin Jr. (Jane) of Kingston, and Patti French (Eric) of Rockport. Survived also by fifteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Verla was born and raised in Spencerville, studied to become an elementary school teacher, and married after a short teaching career to raise a family. She lived in Prescott, Brockville, Toronto and at Rosewood Retirement home in Kingston for twelve years before entering Sherwood Park Manor in the fall of 2005. Verla loved visits by her children and grandchildren and she enjoyed sports on TV, after no longer being able to read and listen to fine music. Special thanks to Verla’s caring staff and friends at Rosewood and Sherwood Park Manor for making her final years comfortable.
Visitation will be held at the Chris Slater Funeral Home,, 416 Dibble Street West, Prescott on Sunday, August 26, 2007 from 1 to 2:30 with a Memorial Service to follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Chapel. Donations may be made in Verla’s name to the charity of your choice, and will be acknowledged by the family.

MCDONALD, Roselyn
Entered into rest at the Brockville General Hospital, Garden Street Site on Monday, August 20th, 2007 in her 65th year. Beloved daughter of Evelyn Marlowe and the late John Marlowe. Dear sister of John Marlowe of Liverpool, England. Also survived by three step children Sandra Swindon, Betty Ann Nelles and James McDonald.
Family and friends may pay their respects at the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Celebration of Roselyn’s life will be held in the Chapel on Friday at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery. In memoriams to the Cancer Society will be gratefully acknowledged.

PRESTON, Joene Cecilia
January 31st, 1941 - June 18, 2007
After a courageous battle with cancer, Joene Cecilia Preston passed away at hospital in Vancouver, B.C. Beloved daughter of Finnie Preston Collett (Austin) and half sister of Dale (Denise) Fretwell. Sadly missed by dear friends Carmel Horne, Sister Anna Clare and many others located in and around Pemberton, B.C.
A special ceremony in celebration of Joene’s life as a teacher, writer and world traveller was held at a nearby reservation.
