BROWN, P. Norman
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of P. Norman Brown on January 30, 2009 in Courtice, Ontario at the age of 86.
Norm was born on June 19, 1922 and was raised in Windsor, Ontario where he and his family were active members of the Salvation Army and Band: Walkerville Corps. Norm served his country as a proud Canadian during WW II from 1942-1945 in the R.A.F. 194 Squadron and the R.C.A.F. Squadron 435 Burma Star/Burma Campaign where he completed a tour of operations. His humility in service and the sacrifices he made will always be remembered with extraordinary pride.
After the war he received his P.Eng. in civil engineering from the University of Toronto and married his school sweetheart, Betty Jean Stewart. Norm was a devoted husband and he will deeply missed by Betty, his wife of 61 years. He began his professional career at the Canadian Bridge Company, Windsor and was General Manager when he left the Bridge Co. in 1970. Betty and Norm moved to London where Norm was Dean of Technology at Fanshawe College until the time of his retirement.
Left to celebrate his life is his caring son and loving grandson; Scott and James Brown of Courtice, Ontario and proud daughter and family: Bev and Bill Ramsay, Laura Ramsay, and Lindsay and Neil Schneider and great-grandson Carson, all of Edmonton.
For all of Dad’s numerous and significant accomplishments, he would be most proud of his family. He was a quiet man of great character and who relished his solitude. He was an honourable individual who lived life with great integrity. Honest, wise and a patient teacher; we loved him dearly. His example as a husband, father, grandpa and great-grandpa will not be diminished by his passing.
