Suddenly at Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket on Monday, January 26, 2009. Surrounded by her family, Helen (nee Herc) in her 83rd year.

Loving mother of Ryszarda Spyridakos and her husband George (deceased), Teresa and her husband Peter van Schaik, Jeannie Devine, Mary Anne and her husband Kevin O’Neill and the late baby George Tomaszewski. Proud grandmother “Babcia” to Kathleen (Matthew), Kristine (Stephen), Charmaine (Gilles), Cynthia (Byron), Lyane (Dorian), Rory and great-grandmother "Babcia" of Zackary, Kennedy, Zoe, Harrison, Lise, Jean Luc, Lauren, Marc, Gabriel, Nadia, Jessica and Phoebe. Sister of the late Richard Herc. Fondly remembered by her niece Krystyna and her husband Robert Plumb, nephew George and his wife Jody Herc, sister-in-law Zofia Herc and relatives in Poland.

Relatives and friends may call at McINTOSH-ANDERSON FUNERAL HOME LTD., 152 King Street East, Oshawa (905-433-5558) on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be held in the chapel on Thursday, January 29, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Thornton Cemetery. DOUDS, Natalie

At Hillsdale Estates, with her family by her side on Sunday, January 25th, 2009.

Natalie (nee Wojcichowski) in her 90th year. Beloved wife of the late William Douds. Dear and loving mother of the late Nathaniel Douds and the late Patricia Jardine. Devoted Bobcha to Kyla (Glenn); Clare (Jason); Holly and Nathan (Sarah), and great-grandmother to Aidan. She will be fondly remembered by her siblings Julian and Arlene, her sister-in-law Faye, her niece Cathy and her family Jeff, Janelle and Jordan. Predeceased by her brothers Steven and Paul. Many thanks to Cathy for her care and compassion of Bobcha over Natalie’s later years and to the staff at Hillsdale Estates.

FRALICK, Sarah "Eliza"

Peacefully, at her home on Scugog Island on Sunday, January 25, 2009, at age 104.

Eliza (nee Stephenson), beloved wife of the late Maurice Fralick. Loved mother of Gloria Fralick, Stephen Fralick (Kathy), and Marilyn (Angelo Di Paolo) all of Scugog Island. Loving grandmother of Anna-Lyn (Andrew Moore), Laura (Ray Edwards) and Julia (Chris Lemon) and great-grandmother of Matthew and Zachary Lemon and Maléa Edwards. Dear sister of the late Marion, Rhoda, Dorothy and Harry.

The family of Eliza Fralick will receive friends at the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, "McDermott-Panabaker Chapel", 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985-2171) on Wednesday, January 28th from 7 – 9 p.m. and Thursday, January 29th from 12 – 1:30 p.m. A Service to celebrate her life will be held in the Chapel at 1:30 p.m. with Reverend Calvin Stone officiating. Interment Pine Grove Cemetery, Prince Albert. If desired, memorial donations may be made by cheque to the Port Perry Hospital Foundation, the Scugog Island United Church Memorial Fund, or the Charity of your choice.

FORRESTER Roy Clarence
"WWII Veteran, Royal Canadian Navy. Former Owner, Orono Weekly Times."

Passed away peacefully at Fosterbrooke Long-Term Care Facility on Sunday, January 25, 2009.

Roy, beloved husband of Donna (West). Dear father of Elaine (Ken) Stainton and Nancy (Jim) Wright. Loving grandfather of Kelly (Réal) Lebeau; Mandy Stainton (Keith), Jamie Wright (Christy) and Bill Wright. Loving great-grandfather “Papa Roy” to Aaron, Christopher and Kaitlyn Lebeau. Survived by his brother John Forrester and predeceased by his sister Jeanne Staples.

A Private Family Service will be held at THE NORTHCUTT ELLIOTT FUNERAL HOME, 53 Division St. N. Bowmanville. Cremation. Spring Interment Orono Cemetery. Donations in Roy’s memory may be made to The Alzheimer’s Society or Orono Crown Lands Trust.

LEAMING, David “Dave” H.
(32-plus year employee of Dupont Canada; member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 187 Colborne; avid outdoorsman and sportsman; former member of the Oshawa Skeet and Gun Club)

Suddenly at his home in Colborne on Sunday, January 25, 2009, in his 62nd year.

Loving father of Carol Reid of Newcastle, and dear Papa of Trevor. Beloved companion of Jeannie Lindsay of Colborne. Caring brother of Darlene and her husband Michael Freeman of Toronto, and Diane and her husband Ron McIndless of Lindsay. Predeceased by his parents George and Marie Leaming. Dave will be sadly missed by his friends and extended family.

PANTOULIAS, Anastasia (nee Andreopoulos)

Died peacefully on January 25th, 2009 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, Ontario.

Anastasia was born November 27th, 1943 in Alpohori, Greece to the Chief of Police of Athens Konstantinos and Aikaterini (Lambropoulos). Beloved wife of Harry Pantoulias who she married on December 26th, 1969 in Athens, Greece. Loving mother of Theodore and Konstantina Androutsos (Dominique). Dear sister of George Andreas (Ursula) and Areti Konistis (George). She will also be missed by numerous relatives and friends who surrounded her with friendship and love.

Anastasia was a religious woman that was instrumental to the Greek Church in Oshawa and served for several years on the board. She worked as a Greek School teacher and dance instructor and dedicated much of her time volunteering on various multicultural councils in Oshawa. Anastasia was also a published artist.

ROSSEN, Douglas Alan

Peacefully on Sunday, January 25th, 2009, with his family by his side at Lakeridge Health Oshawa.

Beloved husband of Loretta. Devoted, loving, and loyal father to Derek and Rachel. Dear son of the late Gord and Margaret Rossen. Loving brother of Neil and his wife Teresa. Dear son-in-law of Antonia and Arduino Alessandrini. Brother-in-law to Roland, Loredana and her husband Alberto, and Henry and his wife Dina. He will also be deeply missed by his nieces and nephews Bradley, Alicia, Juliann, Vanessa (Enzo), Stephanie, Michael and Nicole and his great-niece Cassia. Doug will live on in the memories of all those who met him.

ROWDEN, Bernice M (nee Gassien)

Peacefully on Sunday, January 25, 2009 at the Wynfield, Oshawa in her 104th year.

Bernice, beloved wife of the late Donald “Doc” Rowden (1964). Loving mother of Norma and her husband PJ McCaffrey of Napanee, and Thomas Rowden and his wife Pauline of Toronto. Loving grandmother of Jennifer McCaffrey, Sean McCaffrey and his wife April, Kevin McCaffrey and his wife Shannon, Gregory Rowden and his wife Isabel and Miranda and her husband Matt Grills, Joshua Wood, and Dustin Wood, and great-grandmother of Adam, Taylor, Brooklin, Daniel, Tatiana, Alessandra and Deegan. Dear sister of Paul Gassien and is predeceased by brothers Guy and Fran Gassien.

Friends may call at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East, Oshawa on Wednesday, January 28th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral mass at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church on Thursday, January 29th at 11am. Interment Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Whitby.

BALES, Patricia “Pat”
(long-time member of the Orono Horticultural Society)

Peacefully at home in Orono with her family by her side, on Saturday, January 24, 2009, in her 78th year.

Loving wife and best friend of Eric for 55 years. Proud mother of Beverley Knight of Pickering, and Liane Bales and Dan Bokan of Orono. Nanna to Christopher and Emily; Keegan and Cole; Jeffrey and Cassandra. Dear sister of Sylvia “Bubbles” of England, Molly and Neville of Barbados, and the late Frederick, Ronald, Doreen “Deen” and Olive, all of England.

A Memorial Service will be held at ORONO UNITED CHURCH on Saturday, January 31, at 11:00 a.m., with a reception to follow in the church hall. Donations to the Durham Regional Cancer Centre in Pat’s memory would be greatly appreciated by the family, and may be made through NEWCASTLE FUNERAL HOME, 905-987-3964, with whom arrangements have been entrusted.

GROENEVELD, Jacob
(Charter member of Emmanuel Reformed Church, Whitby)

Born in Holland on September 18, 1915. Went to be with his Lord on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at the age of 93.

Loving husband of Antje Groeneveld for 68 years. Loving father of Ryk (June), Maria Louws (Peter, deceased), Everett (Toby), and Gary (Colleen). Grandfather of Peter (Cindy), Darleen (Joe), Richard, Sharon (Bill), Joy (Dan), Kevin (Tricia), Amy (Jared), Beth-Ann (Matt), Christopher, Quincy, Rachael, Nichol and 11 great-grandchildren.

Resting at the COURTICE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1587 Highway #2, Courtice, 905-432-8484 (corner of Highway #2 and Sandringham Dr.) where the family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 27th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Emmanuel Reformed Church, 401 Rossland Rd. W., Whitby on Wednesday, January 28th at 11 a.m. Interment Bowmanville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations to Emmanuel Reformed Church would be appreciated.
