BONEKAT, John

With great sadness the family announce the passing of John at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Saturday, January 10, 2009 in his 63rd year.

Beloved husband of Sonja for 42 years. Dear father of Angela and her husband Tom Kuziomko and Oliver and his wife Kim Bonekat. Proud Papa of Emily and Ashley. Dear brother of Christel, Peter and Friedel. Treasured son-in-law to Ilse Tilger and Uncle to Nick and Jason.

Resting at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East, Oshawa, with Memorial Visitation on Saturday, January 17th, 2009 from 2-4 pm.Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

BOGATKOW, Maria

Passed peacefully following a brief illness on January 10, 2009 at the Fairview Lodge Nursing Home in Whitby.

Predeceased by her husband Valentin. Fondly remembered by her cherished friends and family.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Fairview Lodge Nursing Home in Whitby or the Rouge Valley Health Centre - Ajax Site would be appreciated.

COE, Lisa

Peacefully, on Saturday, January 10, 2009, with her family by her side at her home in Cannington, at age 35.

Lisa (nee McGraa), dearly loved wife of Todd Coe. Loving mother of Cameron, Aidan and Maren. Beloved daughter of Margaret and the late George McGraa. Dear sister of Marie and her husband Paul Vandenberg, and Joseph McGraa and his wife Laura. Loved daughter-in-law of Garry and Sandy Coe and sister-in-law of Tamara Coe.

The family of Lisa Coe will receive friends at the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, "McDermott-Panabaker Chapel" 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985-2171) on Monday, January 12th from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 573 Simcoe Street in Beaverton on Tuesday, January 13th at 11 a.m. with Father Wilfried Lenius officiating.

Interment St. Columbkille Catholic Church Cemetery, Uptergrove in the Spring.

If desired, memorial donations may be made by cheque to the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation in Toronto.

GILHAM, Geoffrey James

Peacefully at Fairview Lodge on Saturday, January 10, 2009 in his 90th year.

Geoffrey devoted husband of Margaret for 68 years. Loved father of Lionel and his wife Barb, Andrea and her friend Maurice Bramhall, Anton and his wife Sharon Gilham. Cherished granddad of Brian, Jason and Sonja, Great-granddad of John and Amy. Remembered by his brother Rex and family in England.

Private family services were held and cremation has taken place.

Arrangements entrusted to the MORRIS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 4 Division St., Bowmanville.

HARRIS, Kenneth Edgar
1918 - 2009

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ken on Saturday, January 10th in Pickering, Ontario in his 91st year.

Loving husband of 28 years to Jocelyn (Chadwick), and the late Helen Burns, dear father of Darlene (David Kerr), Bonnie (Langan) and Kenneth (Karen Moase), and Jocelyn's children, Nancy, Dave (Sharon) and Jeff, grandfather of 9, great-grandfather of 4, brother of Jean (Cliff Scott), predeceased by his brothers Donald and Bruce. Ken was a Veteran of WWII and a member of the Metropolitan Toronto Police Force before retiring into the private sector.

A memorial service will be held in Ken's honour at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice or to the Canadian Alzheimer Society.

BETTERIDGE, Ivor Anthony

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ivor Betteridge on Friday, January 9th, 2009 at the age of 77, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Beloved husband of Juliet (Mary), loving father to Jane (Dominic), Ross (Deirdre), Sara (Niall) and Lisa (Rick), Devoted Grampy to his grandchildren Ben, Adam, Emily and Jake and great-grandson Nolan. Ivor was born in Winchester, England and emigrated to Canada in 1956 where he obtained his Master Plumber’s license. He joined the East York Fire Department in 1960 and served his community for 10 years. While with the Department he obtained his teaching certificate and Bachelor of Arts Degree from York University. In 1970, he joined the faculty of what is today George Brown College where he taught Plumbing and Steamfitting for 25 years. Ivor actively continued his community service in his retirement, participating in both the Whitby Seniors Activity Centre and with the Town of Whitby.

Family and friends may visit at the OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West, Oshawa, Ontario L1J 2L4 (905-721-1234) for visitation on Monday, January 12th from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. A celebration of his life will be held at ST. JOHN THE EVANGELIST CHURCH, 903 Giffard Street, Whitby, Ontario L1N 2S3 on Tuesday, January 13th at 10:30 a.m. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Supportive Care Unit at Lakeridge Health – Oshawa.

In lieu of flowers, donations towards the purchase of Palliative Care Air Bed at LHO in Ivor’s memory would be appreciated.

COUTURE, Marie Delpha

In her 102nd year. Peacefully passed away at Strathaven Lifecare Centre on Friday, January 9, 2009.

Beloved sister of Marie “Babe” Duguay of Bowmanville and Nor Theriault of New Brunswick. Dear aunt of Carol Kempter, Jeanette Huard, Robert Duguay, Edward Couture and Noella Couture. Loving sister-in-law of Argentine Couture. She will be sadly missed by many friends and relatives.

Funeral Service will be held at THE NORTHCUTT ELLIOTT FUNERAL HOME, 53 Division St. N. Bowmanville on Monday, January 12th, 2009 at 1:30pm. Interment Thornton Cemetery. Memorial Donations may be made to Municipality of Clarington- Animal Services.

GERMAN, Sheila (Tsila)

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother Sheila on January 9, 2009 at the age of 73.

Sheila was a devoted wife to the late Tom (Tase) and loving mother to Chris and Elinor, Helen and Orde Zdravkovski and Sandra Ricard. Devoted Baba to Michael, Michelle, Nicky, Tanya, Karly, Andrew, Jason, Jeremy, David and Great Baba to Baby Braydon.

She is survived by mother Maria Strezova, brother George and Zvezda Strezov.

Predeceased by father Vasil, sister Tomka and grandparents Kole and Sofia Strezov.

Thank you to the oncology nurses on the 6th Floor at Lakeridge Oshawa Hospital, with a very special thank you to Bob Stratton who kept a smile on her face.

Funeral Service to be held at ST. NEDELA'S MACEDONIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH (485 Bayly Street West, Ajax) at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2009.

HOLDCROFT, Norma Anne

After a courageous battle against cancer at her home in Oshawa with family at her side on Friday, January 9, 2009.

Norma (nee Brewster), dearly beloved wife of Derek Holdcroft for 38 years. Loving mother of Brian and his wife Laurie Holdcroft, Laura and her husband Greg Kraemer. Loving grandmother of William and Nolan. Dear sister of Trevor and his wife Joan Brewster, James and his wife Libby Brewster, Alan and his wife Maureen Brewster, twin brother Roger and his wife Joan Brewster, and David and his wife Sandra Brewster. Sister in-law of Tina Holdcroft and Keith Morgan. Daughter in-law of Mary Holdcroft.

Relatives and friends will be received at Knox Presbyterian Church, 147 Simcoe St. N., Oshawa on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at 10:00am with a memorial service to follow at 11:00am. Donations made in memory of Norma to Princess Margaret Hospital - Ontario Cancer Institute or Knox Presbyterian Church would be appreciated by her family and can be made through McINTOSH-ANDERSON FUNERAL HOME Ltd. 152 King St. E., Oshawa.

MALONEY, Jerome “Jerry” James

Peacefully at his residence, on Friday, January 9th, 2009, at the age of 83.

Beloved husband of Inez Maloney. Loving father of Jim Maloney and his wife Deanna of Calgary, Alberta, Andy Maloney of British Columbia, Cathy and her husband Paul Morison of Oshawa, Tommy Maloney of Oshawa, Pat Maloney and his wife LeeAnn of Oshawa, Joanie and her husband Jim Brooks of Enfield, Scott Maloney and his wife Karen of Enniskillen, Sue Uteck and her late husband Larry of Halifax, New Brunswick. Dearly missed by all his grandchildren and his great-grandchild. Dear friend Barb Clark. Fondly remembered and sadly missed by his neighbours and friends.
