KOSS, Donald Arnold

It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Don on Wednesday, January 7, 2009.

Beloved husband to Pat, cherished father of Amanda Langeveldt and loving father in law of Andre Langeveldt. Don is predeceased by brothers Elmer and Ron Koss, and niece Brenda Klatt. He will be remembered by his sisters Mildred Koss, and Beatrice and her husband Owen Aho, sisters in law Fay and Arlene Koss, niece Kimberly Grootendorst and her husband Bill, nephews Victor Koss, Bobby Koss, Bradley Koss and Darrin Aho. Don will be missed tremendously, however his deep love for the Lord, artistic ability through painting and beautiful music will endure in our hearts forever. Don was a longtime member of the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship.

Friends may call at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East, Oshawa on Sunday, January 11th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral service on Monday, January 12th at 2pm at the Embassy of the Kingdom of God, 416 Taunton Road West. Spring interment in Maynooth. Memorial donations to the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews would be greatly appreciated by the family.

MITCHELL, Bertram James "Bert"
(Veteran WW II and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 419, Port Perry)

Peacefully, on Wednesday, January 7, 2009, at the Lakeridge Health Centre in Port Perry, at age 87.

Bert Mitchell of Port Perry, beloved husband of the late Lies (nee Van der hall). Loved father of Louise and her husband Bruce Haugen of Port Perry, Yvonne and her husband Alexander Barclay of Port Perry, Jack Mitchell and his wife Marlene of Washburn Island, Michael Mitchell and his wife Lynn of Port Perry, Timothy Mitchell and his wife Yolande of Seagrave, and Carla and her husband Eric Meester of Orono. Bert will be sadly missed by his 14 grandchildren and 14 great- grandchildren. Dear brother of Marie, Walt, Bill and the late Grace and Verna.

The family of Bert Mitchell will receive friends at the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, "McDermott-Panabaker Chapel", 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985-2171) on Friday, January 9th from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. A Service to celebrate his life will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, January 10th at 11 a.m. with Reverend Elaine Lush officiating. Interment Hillman Cemetery, Utica. If desired, memorial donations may be made by cheque to the Auxiliary to Lakeridge Health Port Perry or the Royal Canadian Legion in Port Perry.

PETERMAN, Melville Kenneth Bruce

At Wynfield Nursing Residence on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at the age of 77.

Beloved husband of Elsie Louise Peterman. Loved father of Katherine Lake (Reg), and Bryan. Cherished grandfather of Kaitlyn and Kayla. Dear brother of Joan, Bill and Carol.

Resting at the COURTICE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1587 Highway #2, Courtice, 905-432-8484 (corner of Sandringham Dr. & Hwy #2) where the family will receive friends on Sunday, January 11 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Monday, January 12 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations to Parkinson Foundation would be appreciated.

TAYLOR, Betty Jean

With her family by her side, on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at the Lakeridge Health Centre in Port Perry, at age 66.

Betty (nee Harnden), beloved wife of 51 years to Fred Taylor of Port Perry. Loving mother of Debbie Newell and her husband Al Murphy of Myrtle, Penny Banfield of Port Perry, and Fred Taylor Jr. and his wife Carrie of Oshawa. Cherished Nanny of Crystal, April, Cody, Freddie Jr., Dana, and Coco, and the best great Nanny of Ethan. Dear sister of Jimmy, Doreen, Barbara, Fred, and Billy. Predeceased by her brothers, Kenny, Donny, and Bobby. She will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews, dearest friends, and to all who knew her as “Mom” or “Nanny”.

The family of Betty Taylor will receive friends at the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, "McDermott-Panabaker Chapel" 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985-2171) on Friday, January 9th from 7 – 9 p.m. A Service to celebrate her life will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, January 10th at 2 p.m. with Michelle Hofman officiating, followed by a reception in the front room of the Funeral Home. If desired, memorial donations may be made by cheque to the Hospital for Sick Kids Foundation in Toronto.

CROSS, Robert Stanley Thompson

It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Robert, (fondly known as Bob by many friends and colleagues) on Tuesday, January 6th, 2009 peacefully in his own home.

Beloved husband of 30 years to Patricia, darling father of Beverly (Brian), Yvonne (Randy) and Rob (Rebecca). Cherished Grandfather of 7 grandchildren, Olivia, Jack, Aiden, Aaryn, William, Lauren and Emma and loyal brother to Malcolm (Daphne) and Andrew (Sandra). Robert was born in Marple, Cheshire, England on April 5, 1941. He came to Canada in 1962 to work in the Forestry Industry in British Columbia and then returning to the U.K. before finally immigrating to Canada in 1965 with his first wife Margaret. Robert’s passion for life, history, reading, continuous learning and travel continues to live through his wife, children and grandchildren. He was President and Owner of Cross Brothers Tree Services Ltd., a respected and successful business in the Durham Region which he originally established with his brother Malcolm in 1972, which will be carried on by his son Robert Cross.

Friends may call at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King St. West (905-721-1234) for visitation on Friday, January 9th from 10:00 A.M. until time of Service in the Chapel at 11:00 A.M. Cremation. In lieu of flowers, donation to the Durham Regional Cancer Centre. The family would like to thank the Oncology Dept. at Lakeridge Health, the Palliative Care Team, Care Partners Nursing Agency for their loving care and attention.

FALLS, R. Leonard
(lifetime member of Kendal United Church)

Peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Tuesday, January 6, 2009, at the age of 93.

Devoted husband for 65 years of the late Jennie Falls. Loving father of Robert (Wendy) of Peterborough and Joan Blackburn (Wayne) of Starkville. Dear Grandpa of Nicole Milburn (Chris), Rachel Falls, Lauren Falls (Victoria), Susan Blackburn (Jason), and Jeremy Blackburn (Kelly). Great-grandfather of six great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his sisters Myrtle Stewart-Holbrook and Clara Falls, and survived by sisters-in-law Annie Lawrence and Weis Wright.

(just north of 401 at the lights) on Thursday, January 8, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Friday, January 9, at 1:00 p.m. Cremation. GRAZIAN, Robert Russel

After a lengthy illness, Robert has gone to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 6th, 2009, in his 91st year.

Dearly beloved husband of Leila. Loving step-dad of Brenda Rybka (Don). Step-grandfather of Tira Lee Gugliotta (Mario) and their children Anthony, Rayah and Leah. Dear brother of Vivian Lee Nice of California. Fondly remembered by many family and friends. Predeceased by parents Joseph and Gertrude Graziano.

KERRIGAN, James Anthony “Jim”

Passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, January 6, 2009. Jim at age 80.

Beloved husband of Bernadette for 52 years. Dear father of Denis Kerrigan & his wife Anne, Evelyn Coultice & her husband Bob, John Kerrigan & his wife Linda, and Colleen Chappell & her husband Ron. He will be truly missed by his grandchildren Noel, Shawn, Colby, Mattie, Katriina, Blake, Cassie, Brody, Nicole, Erin and Meaghan. Survived by his brothers Michael and Pat, and sisters Sabina Mitchell, Josie Hollingsworth, Sister Benignus, and Eileen Harmon. Predeceased by his brothers John, Mattie and Ted, and by his sister Bridie Byrne.

Resting at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East, Oshawa with Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church on Monday, January 12, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. Prayers will be held at the Funeral Home at 2 pm. Visitation Sunday 2 – 4 p.m.

LAILEY, Gwendolyn Dora

Died peacefully at Lanark Lodge, Perth Ontario, on January 6, 2009, Gwen in her 92nd year.

Dearly beloved wife of the late Sidney Lailey. Beloved sister of Stella Moseley-Williams and the late Muriel Thomson and John Lydford. Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews Robert Lailey (Brenda), Patricia Jessup (Grant), Paul Thomson (Yvonne), Carolyn Bloye (Frank), Lois Battle (Jim), Donald Moseley-Williams, Peter Moseley-Williams (Lynda), John Moseley-Williams (Lynda), Kenneth Lydford (Sharon), Barry Lydford, the late Donald Lydford (Nancy), Dale Playfair (Rob) and Beverly Ross.

MacDOUGALL, David Murray

Passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health, Oshawa on Tuesday, January 6th, 2009 in his 67th year.

Lorna's dearly loved husband of 44 years. Much loved Dad to Leslie and her husband Sean Pedlar and Brian and his wife Nicola MacDougall. Cherished Papa to Holly, Paige, Clare, Erin and James. Son of Myrtle, predeceased by his father William Murray. Survived by his sister Mary and her husband John, and brother-in-law Larry and his wife Jan King. David will be fondly remembered by his many close friends.

Visitation will take place at MEMORIAL CHAPEL BROOKLIN, 5295 Thickson Rd. N. Whitby from 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 11th, with service to follow in the chapel Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Diabetes Association, R.S. McLaughlin Cancer Center, Oshawa or Renascent Foundation 365 Bloor Street East, Suite 1900, Toronto ON M4W 3L4 Attn. Aruna Aysola.
