Peacefully, on Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at the Community Nursing Home in Port Perry, at age 92.
Dorothy (nee Williams), dearly loved wife of the late Laverne Martyn of Scugog Island. She was predeceased by her brothers Murray Williams and Walter M. “Jerry” Williams, and her sisters Mabel Howsam, Alice Cook and Marion Reader. Dear sister-in-law of Harold Martyn and his wife Clara of Scugog Island and Inez Bonner of Scarborough. Dorothy will be missed by her many nieces and nephews.

Passed away peacefully with his family at his side on February 15th.
Loving husband of more than 47 years to Stavroula (nee Giatra). Devoted father of Despina Morfidis (George), Bess Stone (Jeff) and Sam (Kathryn). Cherished brother of Dimitrios (Evgenia) in Greece and the late Antonios and Anastasia; uncle to Despina and Anastasia in Greece. Son-in-law to Vasiliki Giatra. Much-loved Pappou to Ria and Stephanie, Anna Maria and Nicholas, Michael and Adam.
George came to Canada in 1956 as a young man from Xirokambi, near Sparti, Greece and settled in Bowmanville. George became a respected businessman in town, owning the Olympia Restaurant for many years. After retiring he devoted his time to his family and church and became a leader in the Greek community in Oshawa. His hard work and generosity will never be forgotten.
Visitation will take place at the MORRIS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 4 Division Street, Bowmanville on Thursday, February 18th from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m.
Funeral service on Friday, February 19th at 10 am at the ANNUNCIATION OF THE VIRGIN MARY, GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH, 261 Bloor Street, East, Oshawa. Interment at Bowmanville Cemetery.
