1925 - 2010
(42 year Employee of Cliff Mills Motors; Gentleman Farmer, Avid Sports Fan and Enjoyed Fishing)

Peacefully surrounded by his family at Lakeridge Health Corp. Oshawa on Monday, February 8, 2010, Jack in his 86th year.

Dearly beloved husband of Valetta (nee Thackeray) for 63 years. Dear Father of Paul and his wife Heather McVety, Lisa McVety and her husband Kelly Sheppard and Mark and his wife Suzanne McVety. Devoted Grandpa and Poppy to Megan and her husband Rob Johns, Tyler McVety, Ethan McVety, Jason Sheppard, Jenna Sheppard, Josh McVety and Nicole, Brandon McVety and Jessica McVety and Great-Grandchildren Elizabeth, Gavin and Garnet. Loving Brother of Joy Masters of Oshawa, Jay McVety of Baltimore and predeceased by Jim McVety of Hastings and Jean Beatty of Campbellford. Fondly remembered by special friends of the family Stan and Mary Ann Found and their family.

Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Friday, February 12, 2010 after 1:00 pm at Ebenezer United Church, 1669 Courtice Road, Courtice. A Service will be held at 3:00 pm.

ARKSEY, Murray David

Passed away at his residence on Sunday February 7th, 2010 in his 63rd year.

Son of the late Doug and Jean Arksey. Brother of Dennis and his wife Janice of Port Perry and Allan and his wife Clare of Brooklin. Remembered by nieces and nephews.

Resting at MEMORIAL CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 5295 Thickson Rd. N. Whitby (905-655-3662) from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. Thursday.

Funeral service will follow immediately at 1:00 p.m.

Interment GROVESIDE CEMETERY.

ELSON, Elva Eileen

Peacefully, on Sunday, February 7, 2010, at the Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay, at age 89.

Elva (nee Middleton), beloved wife of the late Kenneth John Elson of Prince Albert. Loving mother of Wayne Elson and his wife Marilyn of Bancroft, Virginia Elson of Prince Albert, Larry Elson and his wife Virginia of Plainwell, Michigan, and Sharon and her late husband Joseph Fiorini of Richmond Hill. Loved grandmother of Ross and Robert, and great grandmother of Alexander, William, McKenzie, and Grace.

The family of Elva Elson will receive friends at the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, "McDermott-Panabaker Chapel" 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985-2171) on Wednesday, February, 10th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Service to celebrate her life will be held in the Chapel on Thursday, February 11th at 11 a.m. Interment Uxbridge Cemetery.

If desired, memorial donations may be made by cheque to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario.

EMMOREY, Raymond Edward

At home on Sunday, February 7th, 2010, in his 73rd year.

Son of the late Earl and Mabel Emmorey. Cherished husband of Ruth Emmorey for 50 years. Father of Deborah Carr (Graeme) and Edward Emmorey (Lea Anne). Grandfather of Erika, Thomas and Kevin. Survived by his brother Lloyd Gillespie, many nephews, nieces and friends.

He will be remembered for his dedication as a CAW Committeeman at GM for 23 years and by his many friends during his 38 years service.

A private family service will be held followed by cremation.

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Erik (Erkki) Juha Rasanen on Sunday, February 7th, 2010 at the age of 38 years.

Loving husband to his soul mate Nancy Marie Busby. Proud and devoted father to Tyler and Meghan. Cherished forever by his mother Arja Rasanen (Raimo) and father John Rasanen (Kathy) and in-laws Irene and Don Busby. Beloved grandson of Anna Kettunen. Dear brother of Paul and Rebecca and brother in-law to Kimberly and Christopher. He will be greatly missed by his aunts and uncles Karen (Bob), Henry (Karen) and Larry (Tiina). Will be missed by many friends, cousins, family and extended family in Finland. Erik will be mostly remembered by all who knew him for his engaging personality, strength of character, sincere care for others, love for his family and friends and a passion for the outdoors.

Courageously, after a short battle with cancer, on Saturday, February 6, 2010.

Loving sister to Paul (Eileen) and predeceased by her sister Maureen and her brother Graham. Special aunt to Barry (Naomi), Neil (Jane), Kenneth (Becky) and fondly remembered by nieces and nephews. Special friend to Liz Palmer and Lise Bowers and their families.

Memorial visitation will be held at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East, Oshawa on Friday February 12th from 6-9 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be held at St. Gregory the Great Roman Catholic Church (194 Simcoe Street North) on Saturday February 13th at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Whitby.

Suddenly in Acapulco, Mexico, on Saturday, February 6th, 2010, in his 69th year.

Predeceased by his wife Marilyn, and his parents Ross and Ada Richards. Dear brother of Maurice (Mary Anne), Ron (Lois), Hazel Raby (Alan). Brother-in-law of Lloyd Scott (Denise). Will be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.
