MURRAY, James Keith "A Consummate Gentleman" On Saturday, October 7, 2000, James Keith Murray, was united with his love of a lifetime, Jane. Passed peacefully after living 3 1/2 years under the watchful care of the "Angels" at Bradford House, Floor 2, Island Lodge. Jim was predeceased by his brother George and sister Christine Ault (George). Jim's example of Christian love touched all who knew him. He is survived by his loving family, brother Charles (Barbara), sister-in-law Theo and many caring nieces and nephews. "It is from our parents that we first learn how to love and give love in return". Jim's kindness, compassion, generosity of spirit and unconditional love are cherished by his daughter Janet Banigan (John), (daughter Janemary) and son Scott (sons James, Jared, John). A Memorial Service will be held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church (Kent at Wellington) on Sunday, October 22, 2000 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice, St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church or to Island Lodge, would be appreciated. Arrangements in care of the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod St.

NEUMAN, Wendy Mae On Monday, October 9, 2000, age 24 years. Wendy is the beloved daughter of Darwin Neuman of Palmer Rapids and Linda Neuman of Barry's Bay. Loving friend of Sebastian Bialkowski of Toronto. She is lovingly remembered by her brother Jeff (Pauline) of Palmer Rapids and sister Krista Golding (David) of Bowmanville and is the cherished granddaughter of Bernadette Plebon and Reinie Neuman. Loving aunt of Leisha, Braden and Madeliene Neuman. Friends may call at O'Reilly Funeral Home, Barry's Bay on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be on Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Emmanuel United Church in Schutt. Donations to the Breast Cancer Society of Canada or to the Children's wish Foundation would be appreciated.

Dear brother of Lois Thomas (late Ed), Winston, Leita Shipman (Fred) and predeceased by a brother Clarence (Peggy) and a sister Adalyne Bennett (Jim). Niece of Terri Blane, Pat and Harold MacDonald, Vic and Marybeth Smith, Penny and Bill Mesa. Cousin of Matthew Scott, Trisha Galipeau, Lynne and Joey MacDonald, Neil, Sheila and Brian Smith, Arthur and Charlie Mesa, Sophie and Daniel MacDonald. Allie recently graduated from Merivale High School and was a part-time worker at Loeb, Lincoln Fields. SMITH, Dr. Gordon W. passed away Saturday October 7, 2000 at the age of 82 years. Gordon was a historian who spent his earlier career as a professor in Canada, the West Indies and Africa. He devoted the last twenty-five years of his life to researching and writing the international history of the Canadian Arctic using the libraries of the Departments of External Affairs, National Defence, Indian and Northern Affairs, the University of Ottawa, the National Archives and other sources. He is survived by his nephews Tom (Nell) Smith of Calgary and Bill (Nancy) Smith of Ottawa, Tom and Nell's family in Alberta, Kathryn (Jeff) Lefebvre and their sons Ryan and Matthew, Colleen Smith, Dave Smith (fiancee Amanda) and his daughter Meagan Jacques, and his sister-in-law Alta Smith of Calgary. He was predeceased by his brother Harold in 1997 and his sister Elizabeth in 1967. In addition to his immediate family, Gordon will be missed by his extended family, friends and colleagues. Friends may attend a Memorial Service at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa on Wednesday October 11, 2000 at 11 a.m. Reception to follow. A private family interment will occur at a later date at Consort, Alberta. If so desired, donations may be made in Gordon's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of your choice.
