Death Notice (11/30/1999)

ZAHRA, Ellen Mabel (Neeb) - On Sunday, Nov. 28, 1999, at Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, age 77 years.

A member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Erbsville.

Loving wife of Sidney Zahra and dear mother of Sidney and his wife Paula of Kitchener.

Will be sadly missed by a granddaughter, Kourtney and grandson, Kurtis.

Also survived by a brother, Orley Neeb and his wife Lillian of Waterloo.

Cremation has taken place.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 2, 1999 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Erbsville, Rev. Olaf Poulsen officiating.

Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

BANKS, Irene May - passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, on Saturday, Nov. 27, 1999, age 79 years, of Waterloo, formerly of Port Elgin and Burlington.

Mrs. Banks was born in London, England and came to Canada in 1945.

She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church in Kitchener.

Predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years, Edmund C. Banks; dearly loved mother of Carol and Bob Richmond, Virginia and David Atkinson, Susan and Steve Milligan, Geoff and Beth Banks, David and Linda Banks and Janet and Glenn Lewis.

Loving grandmother of Bruce and Darlene, Michael and Erin, Julie and Cathy, Gary and Tina, Shari and Paul, Amanda, Lindsay and Peter, Daryl and Sasha, Graham, Kelly and Christopher.

Loving great-grandmother of Sarah, Mitchell, Megan, Mark, Devin, Drew, Jessica, Jaimi and Joey.

Also survived by her sister, Vera Todd and her brother, Arthur Shaw (Marie) and sisters and brother-in-law, Hilda and Sandy Banks, Molly Banks and Aileen Shaw.

Dearly missed by very special friends in England, Eileen and Harold Belcher.

Mrs. Banks' family received friends at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, Monday from 7-9 p.m.

The complete funeral service will be held at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, 23 Water St. N., Kitchener on Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999 (today) at 11 a.m., with Rev. Canon Neil Carver officiating.

Cremation to follow.

Donations to the HopeSpring Cancer Support Centre in Waterloo, St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church or to the charity of your choice.

DARLEY, Thomas Alfred - Thomas died, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, on Sunday, Nov. 28, 1999.

Tom was born in Wolverhampton, England, on May 1, 1921.

He was the beloved husband and friend of Olive Hindle Darley; loving father of Jane and her husband Don McLeod of Cambridge; grandfather of Tracy Williams of Welland and Tom McLeod of Cambridge; great-grandfather of Sydney and Spencer of Welland.

Predeceased by a son John (1971) and also predeceased by brothers, Bill and Norman.

Tom will be sadly missed by his wife Olive and their daughter Jane.

Tom was employed at Schneiders Meats as a Government Meat Inspector.

By the request of the family, there will be no visitation.

Cremation has taken place.

Memorial services will be conducted at St. Giles Presbyterian Church, corner of East Street and Ballantyne Avenue, Cambridge on Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Carolyn McAvoy and Rev. John McIntosh officiating.

Donations to the Epileptic Association, Canadian Diabetes Association or the CNIB would be appreciated by the family.

A special thank you to Dr. E. Mueller, the doctors and nurses on 3B South and 5B Oncology Unit at Cambridge Memorial Hospital and Para-Med nurses.

MAYER, Adam - Of Kitchener, died suddenly, as the result of a heart attack, on Saturday, Nov. 27, 1999, age 66 years.

Adam retired from Chicopee Manufacturing and was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and the Schwaben Club.

Beloved husband of the late Magdalena (nee Reder) (1985).

Loving father of Susane and her husband Rob Tomchick, Pauline and her husband John Osterling, all of Kitchener, Rose and her husband Terry Weiler of Ayr and Kathie and her husband Curt Lodin of Waterloo; dear Opa of John and Anthony Osterling; son of Karoline Mayer of Perry, Iowa and the late Jacob Mayer.

Brother of Katharina Gelbowitz of Perry, Iowa.

Uncle Adam will be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews in Perry, Iowa.

Visitation was held at the Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home & Chapel, 51 Benton at Church St., Kitchener Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999 at 1 p.m., Rev. Dr. William Mundt officiating.

Interment St. Peter's Lutheran cemetery.

A reception will follow in the Schreiter-Sandrock Heritage Room.

Donations may be made to the Sunbeam Centre, as expressions of sympathy.

RAWLEY, Barbara N. (Bobbi)

- Passed away, in Richmond, B.C. on November 12, 1999, after losing a battle with cancer, the former Barbara N. Smith, of Jersey City, N.J., was born on December 9, 1947.

Predeceased by her parents, Bob and Helen Smith of Jersey City, N.J.

She is survived by her loving husband Tom of Cambridge, Ont., with whom she shared 32 years of marriage; son, Michael of Akron, Ohio and brother,
Terry of Sayerville, N.J. Bobbi, along with her husband, was an employee of Babcock & Wilcox Company.

They were transferred to Babcock and Wilcox Canada and resided in Cambridge, Ont. for the past 19 years.

Bobbi was in British Columbia managing a manufacturing company that had recently been acquired.

A memorial service will be held at Hespeler Baptist Church (corner of Franklin Blvd. and Adam St.) in Cambridge, on Friday, Dec. 3, 1999 at 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

- Passed away, on Saturday, Nov. 27, 1999, at St. Luke's Place, Roinea Wenzel, in her 94th year.

Dear sister of Helen Huffman of Blenheim and Jean McArthur of Cambridge.

Predeceased by a brother, Frank Wenzel and a sister, Lavine Swift.

She will be truly missed by her family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 2, 1999 in the Clemens Room of St. Luke's United Church, following which the funeral
service will be held in the church at 2 p.m.

Interment to follow at New Hope cemetery.
