ALTON, Eliza - Peacefully at the Haldimand War Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, August 31, 1999, Eliza (nee Homer) Alton, beloved wife of the late Leroy H. Alton (1973), of Dunnville, in her 96th year; dear mother of Roy and his wife Joyce, Dunnville; Brent and his wife Margaret, Hamilton; and Gail (Mrs. Donald McKinnon) of Amherstburg; sister of Joseph of Hamilton, and John, William and Robert, and infant James, all predeceased. Also survived by twelve grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the J.W. HART FUNERAL HOME, 113 Lock Street East, Dunnville on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral and Committal Services will be conducted from the Chapel on Friday, September 3, 1999 at 1:30 p.m., Rev. Ian Kirby-Smith officiating. Expressions of sympathy to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

ARNOLD, Royce Raymond - Peacefully passed away at the Henderson General Hospital on Tuesday, August 31, 1999, in his 80th year. Beloved husband and best friend of Wynne. Loving father of Royce Arnold Jr. and his wife Christine and Janice Hewitt and her husband David. Wonderful grandpa (papa-choo) of Penny Ferguson and her husband Dean, Tracey Bennett and her husband David, Alison Hewitt, Alisha Arnold, Marianne Kechnie and her husband Paul. Great-grandpa to Samantha Ferguson. Dear brother of Muriel Sutton, Dorothy Blanchard, Audrey and her husband Al Sutton. Predeceased by brothers-in-law, Jack Blanchard and Stan Sutton. Loving brother-in-law to Elsie BeGora. Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Royce served in World War II (Fifth Field Ambulance) and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion (Branch 58), long standing member and former business agent with the Teamster Union Local 879. Family and friends will be received at the DONALD V. BROWN FUNERAL HOME, 36 Lake Avenue Dr., Stoney Creek on Thursday from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Friday, September 3 at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow. BARRY, John Vincent "Jack" - At the Haldimand War Memorial Hospital, Dunnville on Wednesday, September 1, 1999. Jack leaves his wife Audrey, two daughters, Linda Battle (Donald), and Darlene Clark (Brian), all of Dunnville; six grandchildren, Carrie Morrell (Shawn), Tracy House (Brad), Jill Battle (fiance Derek Ings), Crystal O'Hara (Mike), Dan Clark (fiancee Danielle Hanna) and Shannon Clark; three great-granddaughters, Alexandra Morrell "Allie", Hannah Morrell and Alannah House. Also survived by a brother Donald Barry (Carol), brother-in-law Melvin Langkamer (Charlotte) and several nieces and nephews. At Jack's request, there will be no public service. Cremation has taken place. If so desired, as an expression of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. BONDY, Bertha - A resident of St. Joseph's Villa. After a brief illness, on August 31, 1999 at McMaster University Medical Centre, Bertha Bondy, in her 76th year. Beloved daughter of the late Eugene and Martha Bondy. Loving sister of Lorraine Miller of Cambridge, Ontario, Gloria Bondy of Windsor, Ontario and Therese Malinowski (Jerome) of Lapeer, Michigan. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by two brothers, Alphonse Bondy and Alcide Bondy and three sisters, Annette Baltzer, Martha Kowalczyk (Bertha's twin) and Celina Labadie. Bertha was a longtime member of the Catholic Women's League and was the housekeeper for several parishes such as St. Joseph's Parish, for the late Bishop Joseph Ryan, St. Mary's, St. Patrick's and the Canadian Martyrs Parish. Visitation at the P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 7 East Avenue South on Thursday, September 2, 1999 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered at Canadian Martyrs Catholic Church on Friday, September 3 at 10 a.m. Interment Holy Sepulchre cemetery. Vigil Prayers on Thursday at 8 p.m. Donations to the Bridge from Prison to Community would be appreciated by the family. A special thank you to the nurses and staff of McMaster Medical Centre, ICU, for their care and support and to Father Gus Smith for his special care he gave.

ELMS, Grace - After a long and courageous fight to live, Grace Elms died peacefully at the St. Joseph's Villa, in Dundas, surrounded by the wonderful and caring staff, on Tuesday, August 31, 1999. Beloved wife of the late Alfred "Bud" Elms. Loving mother of Hugh Elms and wife Bonnie, Donna-Marie Elms, Harvey Elms, Kenneth Elms and wife Catherine. She will be sadly missed by 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Elms was a lifetime member of the United Church, the Lady Hamilton Club and was actively involved with the Red Cross, and a longtime worker of the home and school. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Special thanks to the staff of St. Joseph's Villa, and to Dr. Walker and Dr. Leber of McMaster Hospital. (J.B.
