NICHOLAS, John Benjamin "Jack" - On Monday evening, August 30, 1999, Jack Nicholas, in his 95th year, moved from his residence at St. Joseph's Villa, Dundas, into his eternal home with the God he had loved and served for most of his life. Jack, "The Barber", was well known for more than 50 years to many of the men and boys of the east end of Hamilton who visited his shop at the corner of King Street East and Balmoral, for a haircut, but also came away with a smile because of Jack's unfailing good humour. Jack was an active member of St. Paul's United Church and served as Superintendent of the Sunday School for over 40 years. He took a deep, personal interest in the children and the young people of the church. Jack was predeceased by his beloved wife, Agnes (Nan) McCulloch, stepson, John McCulloch, his sister, Gladys Nicholas and his brother, William (Bill) Nicholas. He is survived by daughter-in-law, Betty McCulloch Fava, grand-children, Jane and Tom Bristow, Bobby and Trudy McCulloch, David and Rachael McCulloch and Larry and Betty McCulloch. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Jessie Williams and Amelia (Millie) Nicholas and nieces, Karen (and David) Phillips and Marjorie (and Ted) Cline.
