passed away peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Loving wife of the late Tom Roberts. Beloved mother of George (Gwen), Tim (Laura) and Peter (Andrea). Loving Grandmother of Caitlin, Briana, Lauren, Hilary, Thomas and Tracey (Carm). Great-grandmother of Joseph, Alyshia, Michael and Matthew. Treasured daughter of the late Clarence and Marie Sadler. Special sister of Bruce and John Sadler. Ruth was a pleasant and fun loving person with a kind word for everyone. She was born and raised in Oshawa, Ontario. She lived at the YWCA in Toronto while attending the University of Toronto studying dental nursing. Ruth graduated from the University of Toronto in 1944 and worked as a dental nurse for Dr.McLeod at College and Yonge Sts. in Toronto. She left dental nursing to have a family in 1951. The connection with the YWCA remained strong and she volunteered there for many years. Ruth also volunteered for many years at Sunnybrook Hospital with her dear friends Violet Hanes and Clare McKeown. She was an active Christian all of her life and for many years a member at Willowdale United Church and then at Thornhill United Church. Ruth will be fondly remembered for her great cooking, especially her chili sauce, butter tarts, and apple pies! She had a great love for the outdoors and liked nothing better than to go for a walk. passed away on May 24, 2006, in Montreal, surrounded by his family. He will be remembered and missed by his wife Cynthia Downs; his daughters, Colette (Roger Casgrain) and Mireille (Marc Boudreau); his grandchildren, Marianne, Isabelle, Raymond, Rachel and Catherine; his brothers, Jean (Th r se Dauplaise), Andr (Lesley Heron), Guy (Francine Gagn ) and Luc (Jacqueline Poirier); and brother-in-law Paul Downs (Jacqueline Lipp ); as well as many more family members and friends. During a career in the investment business spanning almost 50 years, he was always an active contributor to progress in the industry participating in several committees. He most notably was a member of the board of Trans Canada Options from 1989 to 1993 and its Chairman in 1992 to 1993. As well, he was also the first non-resident of Ontario to be named Governor of the Toronto Stock Exchange (1994 to 1997). At his retirement in 2000, he was First Vice-President, exchange traded equities and equity options at National Bank Financial. Her lifelong enjoyment of music, drama, baseball, gardening and overseas travel were all peacefully terminated by cancer on May 24, 2006. Daughter of Dr. Robert McClure, C.C. and Mrs. Amy McClure. Predeceased by her eldest daughter Elizabeth Edds (Masters). Survived by her husband of 45 years John A. Edds, FCA; their three children Margaret Tymstra (Jan), Suzanne Edds (Jeffery Rawsthorne) and Rob Edds (Barbara Dickie); and her siblings Douglas McClure, Norah Busby and Jo Taylor. Patricia graduated as a Registered Nurse from the Mack Training School for Nurses (St. Catharines), class of 1955. A private family service has taken place. She donated her body to medical research at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto. In accordance with her wishes there will not he any visitation. The funeral service will be the appropriate (most likely in 2007) annual ecumenical interment service held in June by the University of Toronto at the Church of St. James-the-Less (adjoining St. James' cemetery and Crematorium, 635 Parliament St., Toronto). Persons wishing to attend the service should contact a family member in May, 2007. Friends and relatives are invited to a reception at 178 St. David's Road, St. Catharines on Sunday, June 4 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. as a celebration of Patricia's wonderful life.
