SAUVE - At Lambton Meadowview Villa, Petrolia, on Wednesday, June 19, 2002, LOUISE MARY SAUVE, age 78 of Sarnia. Beloved wife of the late Vernon. Dear mother of Joseph, Sarnia and Nancy & her husband Bill Havers, Sarnia. Loving grandmother of Christine Sauve, Saskatoon and Kenneth & Rebecca Haines, Sarnia. Sister of Mary Janus, Sarnia. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. Predeceased by son David and granddaughter Katherine Haines. Louise was retired from Presotlite after 30 years of service. She was a volunteer with the Red Cross, St. Joseph's Hospital Auxillary and a member of Sacred Heart C.W.L. Visitation at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia, 7-9 p.m. Saturday and 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Sunday, where prayers will be offered at 7:00 p.m Sunday. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Fr. Paul Nicholson, 11 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Church. Interment Our Lady of Mercy cemetery. Dear father of John and his wife Elizabeth, Kitchener and Jeffrey of Scarborough. Step-father of Victoria Collison, Oshawa and David Wilson and his wife Annette, Waterloo. Grandfather of Gareth, Ryan and Blair Sharpe. Step-grandfather of Cassie Collison and Maddison, Hannah and Alexander Wilson. Brother of Jean Fisher, Sarnia. Also surviving are several nieces.Mr. Sharpe was amember of the Bright s Grove Golf Club. Visitation at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Wednesday. The funeral service will be held in the McKenzie & Bundy Chapel at 1 p.m. Thursday. Interment Lakeview cemetery. Stauffer and special friend Sandra, Sarnia, and Karen D. Fowler and husband Rob, Sarnia. Loving grandmother of Sandra, Alexandra and Sarah. Great-grandmother of Triston James. Sister of Lyle Nichols and wife Gail Anne, Sarnia. Predeceased by parents Earl and Stella Nichols. Visitation at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 Christina St. N. Thursday 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held Friday 11 a.m. in the McKenzie & Blundy Chapel. Interment Resurrection cemetery. Waters, Joan

Date of Death: August 24th 2002
JOAN WATERS (nee KEOGH) - Born on August 3, 1928 in Toronto, Joan was the third of four children of George and Elva Keogh. She grew up in Toronto, attending St.Joseph's Convent School and then St. Michael's College at the University of Toronto, where she graduated with a B.A. in languages in 1950. Joan was keenly interested in music and received her A.R.C.T. in piano from the Royal Conservatory of Music. While attending university, she met Donald J. Waters, who was studying optometry after having served with the R.C.A.F. during WWII. Joan and Donald were married in May 1951, and moved to Sarnia where Don was establishing an optometry practice. Joan loved Don dearly, but family folklore has it that Joan was in tears when she arrived in Sarnia from Toronto. Despite the culture shock, Joan quickly embraced the community where she and Don raised their six children, and that was her home for a little more than half a century. She was actively involved in her community, including, Sacred Heart Parish, St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary, University Women's Club, Birthright and the Catholic Women's League, and was very involved in assisting Vietnamese refugees settling in Sarnia. Joan was an avid golfer and bridge player, and had a passion for music and literature. Joan was a proud member of the extended Keogh family originally from Colgan, Ontario. Joan was devoted to her family, who will miss her dearly. She is survived by her six children, Patricia Waters-Cotter (John), Donald (Maureen), Michelle Waters Free (Bob), Timothy (Izabella), Peter (Lynn), Joan Van Rensen (Gerry); her fourteen grandchildren Patrick, Matthew, Brendan and Liam Cotter; Meghan and Daniel Waters; Alyssa and Melanie Free; Alexandra, Ashton, Jennifer and Jacqueline Waters; Donald and Timothy Van Rensen; her sisters Clare Larin and Anne Senftle. She is predeceased by her husband Don, parents George Keogh and Elva Veale, and brother Patrick. Following a lengthy battle with cancer, she died on Saturday, August 24, 2002 and like much of her life, she was surrounded by her loving family. Visitation at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. with prayers being offered at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Interment Our Lady of Mercy cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 118 N. Victoria St., Sarnia N7T 5W9.

Welch, Geraldine

WELCH - GERALDINE 'JERRY' (REID) WELCH, of Sarnia peacefully passed away after a difficult illness, at St. Joseph 's Hospital, Palliative Care, on October 5, 2002. Beloved wife of the late George Rob ert Welch (1974). Jerry will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her son Tom Welch & his wife Judy, Edmonton ; daughter Susan Miller & her husband William (Bill), Mississauga, and grandsons Bradley and Brian Welch, Edmonton. Jerry is survived by brother-in-law George S. MacKay, Scarborough and sisters-in-law Ruth Reid, Shelburne, Irene Welch, London and several nieces & nephews. Predeceased by brothers Harvey Reid and Hugh Reid; sisters Mary Booth and Jean MacKay; father Thomas B. Reid and mother Hannah ( Hammond ) Reid. Born in Shelburne, Ontario Jerry was a Registered Nurse graduating from the Stratford General Hospital School of Nursing and maintained dear & precious friends from that time. She was a member of the Imperial Order Daughters of the Nile and Grace United Church. Visitation at the Mc Ken zie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia, Tuesday, October 8, 2003 - 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.. A service celebrating Jerry's life will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 9, 2002 at Grace United Church with Rev. Dr. Bradley Morrison officiating. Family interment Lakeview cemetery. 'Jerry was a wonderful, devoted, loving Mother and Grandmother, loyal and caring friend and a brave and courageous wee lady.' Very special thanks to Dr. Muir for his care and friendship and to Mrs. Flo Derry for her devoted friendship and assistance over the years to our Mother. We extend our sincere appreciation to the dear nurses of Sarnia General and St. Joseph's Palliative Care who were so helpful and caring to both Mother and family members, and to all the wonderful friends and neighbours who gave both Mother and family members fantastic support. Loving husband of Arcangela Giuseppina. Cherished father of Mario and his wife Lisa, Acton. Dear grandfather of Alexandra, Samantha, and Cara. Brother of Palmina and her husband Loreto (deceased) Pennacchia, and family, Italy, Antonio (deceased) and his wife Rosa Benacquista and nephew Rocco and his wife Rita and family and estranged brother Dominico. Brother-in-law of Maria and husband Francesco (deceased) Maola and family, Matilda and husband Lorenzo DiFolco and family, Chris and wife Giuseppina Rocca and family, Tom and wife Loreta Rocca and family, and Emilio and wife Elena Rocca and family, Italy. Predeceased by his parents Agostino and Rossina Benacquista. Giuseppe came to Sarnia from Italy in 1953 to prepare a home for his wife who followed in 1955. He lived and raised a family in Sarnia until very recently. Guiseppe was an active member of the Dante Club of Sarnia for over 25 years, a member of the Ontario Plumbing Inspectors Association and a retiree ot the County of Lambton Plumbing Inspection Department. Visitation at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia, Tuesday 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where prayers will be offered at 8 p.m. Wednesday. Loving grandmother of Robin Beynon, Vancouver, Nancy Beynon & husband Joe Costigan, Sudbury, Kathleen Rybczynski & husband Mitch, Toronto; Shannon and Stephanie Beynon, Waterloo; Timothy, Michael, Julie and Kathryn Beynon, Ottawa and Helen Beynon, Burnaby, B.C. Dear sister of Thomas Kenny & wife Maxine, Sarnia and sister-in-law of Ruth (Beynon) Paterson & husband Peter, Toronto. Predeceased by sisters Constance Nielson and Madelyn Briggs. Mary was a graduate of the University of Western Ontario (1936) and attended the London School of Economics. She was an active member of the community serving on the YMCA Board and a member of IODE, Alexander Vidal Chapter and a lover of music, books, golf, bridge and nature.
