CLEAVER - Marguerite Vivian (Lee) of St. Thomas and formerly of Perth, in her 91st year, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, on Tuesday, December 11, 2001. Beloved wife of the late John J. Cleaver (April 1, 1975) and dearly loved mother of Christine Badgley and her husband Douglas of Port Stanley, son John and his wife Nora of Mississauga. Much loved grandmother of Richard Bagley and his wife Debrorah of St. Thomas, John Cleaver and wife Tracey, Jodi Broderick and husband Guy, all of Mississauga. Lori Windell and husband Gord of Georgetown. Loving grandmother of 5 and 2 great grandchildren. Sadly missed by cousin Lois Follwell of Ottawa, and sister Mrs. Kay Rowan, Mrs. Evelyn Warburton, Barbara Baird and her husband Len, all of Nepean and Mrs. Marion Myles of Markham. Sister-in-law of the late Agnes Langley (Nov.6, 2001) and survived by her husband George Langley of Ottawa. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Friends and relatives will be received by the family at the Blair and Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore Street West, Perth, Ontario on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service to be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at the Elmwood cemetery , Perth. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the charity of choice. Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas entrusted with the arrangements.

MACCALLUM - (Beaton) Ava Marie of St. Thomas, on Monday, December 10, 2001, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family. She was 49. Dearly loved wife of L. Clancy MacCallum and loved mother of Lisa Marie Morrison and her children Joshua, Jenna and Kristen. Predeceased by a son Shawn Groves (1991). Dear step-mother of Mike MacCallum of Toronto and his children Danielle and Brandon, Gina and her husband Bob Kearse of Alberta and their children Loni and Bobbi, Monica and her husband Gary Hagg of Alberta and their children Gary and Ryan. J.D. and his wife Sheila Freele, Deanne and her husband Bob Lentowich of Winnipeg and their children Bobby, Jaime and Alex. Dear sister of Allister Beaton of St. Thomas, Anne and her husband Bill Furda of St. Thomas, Gerald Beaton of Toronto, John and his wife April Beaton of St. Thomas, Joan Beaton of Toronto. Predeceased by a sister Connie and by her parents Roderick and Frances (Thompson) Beaton. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Ava worked at the Aylmer Police College. She was born October 11, 1952 in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas until Friday morning and then to St. Anne s Church where mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment Holy Angels cemetery. Visitation Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Remembrances may be made to Canadian Food for Children or the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital (Palliative Care). Prayers will be recited at the funeral home on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m.

BLAZON - At her residence on Wednesday, December 12, 2001. Mira Blazon of Terrace Lodge , Aylmer, in her 98th year. Born in Rudofsvelt, Yugoslavia on July 16, 1904, daughter of the late Michael and Maria (Stegar) Blazon. A resident of Aylmer and Malahide Township since 1971. Dear friend of Diane Kirby and family and a niece in Yugoslavia. Predeceased by her husband Martin Rochus. Friends may call at the H.A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Friday 2-4 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. Interment , Aylmer cemetery. Donations to World Vision would be appreciated.

WHALLS - At the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital on Wednesday, December 12, 2001. Mrs. Donna (Berdan) Whalls of R.R.#3, Shedden, beloved wife of Wayne Whalls, in her 63rd year. Born in Shedden, Ontario on September 17, 1939, daughter of the late Asa and Mary Ann (MacGinnis) Berdan. Dearly loved mother of Douglas Whalls and his partner Deb, Darlene Des Landes and her husband Mark, all of R.R.#3, Shedden and Deb Lunn and her husband Darrin of Wallacetown. Cherished grandmother of D.J., Cory, Derek, Brittney, Courtney, Shelby, Kody, Heidi and Tessa and great-grandmother of Zachary. Dear sister of John Berdan and his wife Maxine of Shedden, Ivan Berdan and his wife Fern of Tweed, Allen Berdan and his wife Pat, Mary Bradt and her husband Stanley, all of St. Thomas, Shirley Walker and her husband Raymond of London, late Doreen Dunn and late Buddy Berdan. Dear daughter-in-law of Laura Whalls of Elgin Manor, R.R.#1, St. Thomas. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be conducted on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Interment in Shedden cemetery. Memorial donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario gratefully acknowledged.

HICK - Surrounded by his family at the London Health Sciences Centre, South Street Campus on Thursday, December 13, 2001 W. F. Frank Hick of London in his 82nd year. Beloved husband of Evelyn Dorothy Lynn (Herring) Hick. Dear father of Linda Van Slyke and her husband Geoffrey of London and Kathy Palmer and her husband Bruce of Mississauga. Predeceased by his daughter Sandra Hick (1962). Dear brother of Anne Ridley of Ottawa, Marion Douglas of Sarnia, Harold Hick and his wife Donelda of Watford, and Floyd Hick and his wife Norma of Strathroy. Predeceased by his brother Donald Hick. Dear grandfather of Chris Van Slyke and his wife Lydia, Darryl Van Slyke, Tiffany Palmer and Angela Palmer. Dear great-grandfather of Devan Van Slyke. Dear brother-in-law of Elsie Bignell and John Herring and his wife Sandra all of London. Also loved by many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received by the family from 2-4 and 7-9 pm Friday at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London. The complete funeral service will be conducted at Byron United Covenant Church, 420 Boler Road, London on Saturday, December 15th, 2001 at 11:00 am with Reverend Arthur G. Hiley officiating. Interment in Woodland cemetery , London. As an expression of sympathy memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario, 617 Wellington Street, London, ON N6A 3R6 or to the Byron United Covenant Church Renovation Fund, 420 Boler Road, London ON N6K 2K5.

MENNILL - Suddenly at St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital on Wednesday, December 12, 2001. Joseph Lloyd Mennill of Aylmer in his 86th year. Beloved husband of 55 years to Marjorie (Dale) Mennill. Dear father of Jo Anne Thomas and husband Bill of Winston Salem, North Carolina and David Mennill and wife Judy of Aylmer. Loving grandfather to Rita Mennill of Aylmer and John Reynolds of North Carolina. Predeceased by a brother Russell Mennill, sisters Alice Mennill, Velma Foster, Myrtle Hill and Ella Welch. Born in Glanworth, Ontario on September 3, 1916, son of the late Edward and Clara (Stevens) Mennill. A veteran of WWII, Joe served in the Royal Canadian Air Force and was a prisoner of War for 2 and a half years. He was the first director of the Ontario Police College, a Past District Govenor of Rotary International 6330, a member of the Belmont Masonic Lodge and Col. Talbot Branch #81 of the Royal Canadian Legion. Friends may call at the H.A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Saturday 7-9 and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held from St. Paul s United Church on Monday, December 17, 2001 at
11:00 a.m. Interment , White Oak cemetery , London. Rev. Donald Graham, officiating. Remembrances to the Aylmer and Area Foundation or the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital would be appreciated. He will always be remembered with love and affection by those whose lives he touched.
