Sheilagh McGrath - 12/15/2002

On December 14, 2002 at St. Vincent's Hospital surrounded by all of her family. A person of immense kidness, grace and courage in the face of a long illness, she touched all who knew her. Sheilagh will be dearly missed. She is survived by her father, the Hon. James A. McGrath, former Lt. Governor of Newfoundland and Labrador, mother Margaret, sisters Kathy, Caroline, Peggy, Joanna, twin brother Sean, four nieces Kate, Molly, Thea, Sophia and nephew Patrick. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Sunday from 7-9 pm and Monday from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica, Sussex Drive, on Tuesday, December 17, 2002 at 2 pm. A Memorial Eucharistic Celebration will also be held in St. John's Newfoundland at a later date. Flowers greatfully accepted or those wishing may make a donation to the Brain Tumour Research Centre, Montreal Neurological Institute.

Margaret Bowness Millman - 12/13/2002

Peacefully at the Glebe Centre on Thursday, December 12, 2002, in her 99th year. Beloved wife of the late Dr. Peter M. Millman. Loving mother of Barry (Margot Loosely) and Cynthia (Rowland Floyd). Cherished Grandmother of Lynne (Paul Bates), Christine, Suzanne (Jeff Gray), Margaret, Brooke, Myles, Christopher, Adam, Mackenzie, Macklin and Sophie. Great-grandmother of Jesse and Kwadjo. A graduate nurse (Faulkner Hospital, Boston, Mass.) and a Maritimer to the core, she lived a life of service to others. She is deeply loved and will be sorely missed by family and friends and by the staff and her fellow residents at the Glebe Centre. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, on Sunday, December 15, 2002 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. Funeral service will be held at Southminster United Church, 15 Aylmer Avenue on Monday, December 16, 2002 at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Glebe Centre would be appreciated by the family.

Nellie Parent - 12/08/2002

Suddenly on December 6, 2002 at the age of 79 years. Beloved wife of the late Laurent. Cherished mother of Robert (Sylvie Rochon), Suxanne and loving grandmother of Jarett. Friends may visit at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road at Aviation Parkway on Tuesday, December 10, 2002 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, 320 Olmstead Avenue at 12 noon. Interment Notre-Dame cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

Captain CD, RCN (Retired) Suddenly in Ottawa on Wednesday, December 4, 2002, at the age of 79. Born in Montreal, Quebec, son of the late Raymond and Gladys Ryan. Dear husband of Francine (Cole). Loving father of Peter, Catherine (Dolan) and Patricia (Hewitt). Loving grandad of May, Angela and Liam. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Patrick's Basilica, 220 Kent St., on Tuesday, December 10 at 10 a.m. with a reception to follow in the church hall. Interment at a later date at Oakland cemetery , Brockville. In lieu of flowers, donations to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute would be appreciated.

Cherished grandfather of Richard and Amanda and great-grandfather of Rajika. Frigga Von Luczenbacher (nee Forfota) - 12/07/2002

On Thursday, December 5, 2002, Frigga von Luczenbacher passed away peacefully in hospital. She will be sadly missed by her husband Hans von Luczenbacher and all her family members. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel o Hulse, Playfair and McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa on Friday, December 13, 2002 at 1 p.m. until Memorial Service in the Chapel at 2 p.m. For those who wish, a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society of the Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre would be appreciated.

Mary Ward (nee Brennan) - 11/30/2002

Suddenly on November 29,2002 in her 81st year. Loving mother of Carole & James. Grandmother of Linda Hernen (Philip)and Sheryl Ahee (Charles). Great-grandmother of five. Sister of Mrs. Enid Flemming. Friends may visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue at Richmond Rd., on Monday, December 2, 2002 from 7 to 9pm and on Tuesday, December 3rd from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Wednesday, December 4,2002 at 11 am.

William Robert (Bill) Wilson - 12/12/2002

92 years old, died December 7, 2002 in Ottawa. He was born on April 17, 1910, in Indian Head, Saskatchewan. His boyhood hobby as a ham radio operator sparked a life-long interest in electronic communications. After graduating from McGill University with a degreee in Electrical Engineering, he pioneered the installation of radar defence systems for the RCMP and the Department of National Defence. His last job with the Goverment of Canada was as the Technical Advisor to the Canadian Radio-television Commission. He was sustained throughout his life by memories of the golden wheat fields of Saskatchewan and sunset vistas from his McGregor Lake cottage. He is predeceaced by his beloved wife Audrey Unsworth Yates. He will be fondly remembered as a caring father and grandfather by his daughter Jane Panet, Ottawa, her husband the Honourable Justice A. de L. Panet, and their children Philip Panet, (Sue Bronskill) Toronto, and Erica Campbell (Rob Campbell), Ottawa; and by his daughter Susan Pedersen, Fort Langley, B.C. and her children Annelisa Pedersen, Toronto and Erik Pedersen, Fort Langley. Many thanks to the patient and gentle staff at the Island Lodge and to Basmatty Hussain who brought some light into his declining years. A Memorial Service will be held at 11am, Monday, December 16, at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry, 315 McLeod Street.

Alice (nee Hodge) Baker - 04/03/2003

passed away peacefully on April 2, 2003 at Ottawa, aged 80years. Beloved wife of Frank Baker. Survived by her her children Kathy (Richard Neville), Ed (Manon Caza), Ronnie (Karen), Michael (Barbara) and Allen, Will be sadly missed by her seven grandchildren and two step-grandddaughters, many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Friends may visit at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry 1200 Ogilvie Road at Aviation Parkway on Thursday April 3, 2003 from 7-9pm and on Friday at 11am until service time in the chapel at 1pm. In lieu of flowers donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or CNIB.

(nee Bisson) At the Montfort Long Term Care Centre on Friday, April 4, 2003 at the age of 88. Dearly beloved wife of the late Aldoria Barnabé. Dear mother of Aline Dupuis (Maurice), Yvonne, Hervé (Madelaine), Irène Guay (Omer), Françoise St-Martin (Norman), Thérèse Barnabé (Jack), Colette Séguin (Michel) and Yvon (Christine). Also loved by her 29 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 6 great great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Sister Aline Bisson (S.C.O.). Dear step-sister of Léona Ethier, Joseph and Arthur Bisson. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her son Henri and five grandchildren. Friends may visit at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road at Aviation Parkway on Sunday, April 6 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday April 7 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at Notre-Dame de Lourdes (Vanier) 435 Montreal Road, Ottawa on Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. Interment Notre-Dame cemetery. As an expression of sympathy memorial contributions to the Candian Diabetes Association, 1355 Bank Street, Suite 403, Ottawa K1H 8K7 would be aprreciated by the family. Special thanks to the staff at Montfort Long Term Care Centre for their wonderful care and loving compassion.
