Served overseas as Regimental Officer in WW II RCA, 11th, 15th and 17th Field Artillery (Troop Commander) in Italy and Holland 1942-1946. Attended the London School of Economics 1945-46. " Touched By An Angel" Out little Princess Piper came into this world with very limited time because of her medical condition. In the short time Piper was with us she spoke volumes without ever uttering a word. Lucky are we whose lives were touched and changed forever by knowing and loving her. Piper, Robyn said "you are in a better place." I know he is right. I miss you baby girl. Please look after me and give me strength to go on. It is with great sadness in our hearts that we announce that at 58 years, Gary's struggle with cancer has come to an end peacefully at home in the arms of his family. Gary will be deeply missed by his wife and best friend of 30 years Janet (nee Walker) and three loving daughters, Jennifer, Katie and Laura. Gary is survived by his mother Eleanor (nee Platt), predeceased by his father Thomas Edward. Also left to grieve are siblings Claire Davis (Jack) and Dianne, favorite mother-in-law Thelma MacCaskill and sisters-in-law Judy Walker (Eric) and Heather Callahan (Jim), uncles and aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends and neighbours. Gary will be remembered for his incredible courage and strength given his unthinkable and terminal diagnosis. He never thought it was his job to tell others how to live, but by example he taught us all about what mattered in life and to live it to its fullest. Many thanks to all who cared for Gary during the past year. We are especially thankful for Dr. Hurdon's wonderful, compassion and care, and to the nurses at Bayshore Home Health and CCAC who helped ensure his comfort to the end. A Memorial Service will be held at Woodroffe United Church, 207 Woodroffe Avenue on Saturday, March 1st, 2008 at 1 p.m., followed by a reception. Interment to follow in the spring. Iola passed away at the Perley and Rideau Veterans' Health Centre in Ottawa on Monday, March, 10, 2008, at 95 years of age. This gregarious lady lived a life rooted in deep faith, music, friends and family, and she relished her role as family elder until silenced by a stroke several years ago. Iola was predeceased by her beloved husband, Corporal Allan Rostetter. The daughter of the late Caroline Cutts and the late Harold G. Clark of Rideau Park/Leitrim, Iola survived all of her siblings: James Irvine (the late Joy), Gwen Tucker (the late Reginald), and Harold (Lois), Fred (Evelyn), Arthur (Thelma), Douglas (Beverley) and Ronald (Bev) Clark. Iola will be remembered by her sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, on Wednesday, March 19, from 11:00 a.m. until service time in the chapel at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place in St. George's Hawthorne cemetery , Ramsayville, in the spring.
