Peacefully, on Monday, July 13, 2015, in his ninety-sixth year. Beloved husband of Freda Silverman for seventy-three years. Devoted father of Gordon. Cherished brother and brother-in-law of Edith and the late Hy Engel, Norman (Ellie) Gottlieb, the late Seymour and the late Dorothy Gottlieb, and brother-in-law of Rose and the late Eli Yaffe. He will be lovingly remembered by his nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, family, and friends. The family would like to thank all his caregivers who treated him like their own family. A caring and passionate woman, Lois was always ready and willing to help family and friends in need. She is survived by her children and their partners, Jonathan and Paulette, Elissa and Jean-Luk, Mishele and Bertha, her brothers and sisters-in-law, Herbert and Hennie, Arthur and Sheila, and her five grandchildren, Ethan, Rebecca, Caleb, Hannah and Noah, and many nephews and nieces. Daughter of the late Eli and the late Mathilda Greenspoon. She will be deeply missed. Funeral services will be held at Steeles Memorial Chapel in Toronto, on July 7th, 2015 at 10:00am. Great-grandmother of Jayden and Jonah Kass. Daughter of the late Harry and the late Ethel Golt. Sister of Rita Golt Pearson (the late Stanley). Sister-in-law of Millie Dolman (the late Harry). Predeceased by brothers Maynard and Gerald. She will be fondly remembered by her many nephews, nieces, grand-nephews, grand-nieces and cousins. Lila loved her home, her garden and her family. She was very proud of the French education she received from the Mother House Convent of the Souers-des-Saints-Noms-de-Jésus-et-de-Marie on Mount Royal Blvd. She traveled all over the world in an era when most women never dreamt of exploring historical sites. She was the first of her many lady-friends to drive her own car. She insisted on the best education for her children and that excellence in education has been carried forward to her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She taught her family to always strive for excellence and perfection and she led by example.
