Peacefully, on Tuesday, September 1, 2015. Beloved husband of the late Goldie. Devoted father of Roslyn, Joyce, and Stephen. Cherished Zaidie of Gillian and Megan. Predeceased by his siblings, Ida, Dave, Melvin, and Joe. Nathan will be sadly missed by his nieces, nephews, family and friends. Cherished grandfather of Vanessa, Tatiana and Sean Blumer; Brian and Lindsay, and Jeff Dalfen, Steph and David Sacks. Great-grandfather of Brandon, Matthew and Mason. Dear brother and best friend of Jack and the late Rhoda Blumer. Special uncle and great-uncle of Donald, Steve and Rosanne, Ian and Heather, and Lorne Blumer and their children. Daughter of the late Adolf and the late Freda Stein. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. The family would like to thank the staff of 6NW at Maimonides Geriatric Centre for their care and compassion. Tragically, on Saturday, August 29, 2015. Beloved husband of Beatrice (Bea) Stattner for sixty-six years. Devoted father of Bob (Bobby) Taylor, Brian Taylor (Christine Menard), and the late Beverley Dawn Taylor. Cherished ‘Poppa’ of Victoria, Sarah, Jordan, Sean, and Lauren. Dear brother and brother-in-law of the late Nelson and the late Ruth Taylor, the late Jack and the late Shirley Taylor. Brother-in-law of Mildred Stattner and the late Sy Halpern of New Jersey, Ruth and the late Bill Stattner, the late Lewis (Lew) and the late Ruth Stattner. Son of the late Abram and the late Ida Taylor. Son-in-law of the late Adolph and the late Alice Stattner. Bill was a proud war veteran and an accomplished musician who will be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews, family, and all of those whose lives he touched. After a long and fruitful life, on Sunday, August 30, 2015, in his ninety-sixth year. Devoted husband of Esther Kohn. Cherished brother and brother-in-law of Roman and the late Bernice. Beloved father and father-in-law of Elaine Lesniak, Stanley and Diane Lesniak. Proud grandfather of Megan, Dylan, and Ari. Dear uncle of Irwin and Suzanne Lesniak, Henry and Joanne Winiarz, and the late Grace Lesniak. Great-uncle to Jason and Michael. Predeceased by his parents and sister, Halina, who perished in the Holocaust. A Schindler’s Holocaust survivor, Stefan possessed encyclopaedic knowledge of World War II, and was recruited to speak on the subject at synagogues, schools and churches. His life will be honoured on Tuesday, September 1 at 12 noon, at Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W. Burial at the Adath Israel Poale Zedek Anshei Ozeroff Congregation Cemetery, de la Savane. Alvin Joseph Guttman

GUTTMAN, Alvin Joseph Peacefully at home on Monday, September 21, 2015. Beloved husband of the late Naomi for 59 and 1/2 years. Loving father of Michael (Monica) and Lisa. Adored Papa Alvin of Jamie Light (Julia), Rachel (Kevin), Lawrence, David (Joanne) Guttman and Alexi and Noah Shechtman. Great Grandfather of Maya and Oliver Light and Madeline and Ivy Guttman. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Irwin (Mary Alice) and the late Stanley (Gloria) Guttman and Seymour (Sybil) and the late Arthur (Annette) Pressman. Beloved companion of Rita Stein. Alvin was a veteran of World War II who proudly served in the Canadian Army in a variety of administrative roles from bases in the Montreal area. Following the war, Alvin was one of the Principals of Progress Brand Clothes Inc. until his retirement in 1992. Alvin was a supporter of a variety of charitable causes. He was particularly proud of his service with the Lions Club where he was a charter member of the former Northmount Chapter. The family would also like to acknowledge with deep appreciation the care and compassion extended by Caregivers Gordon, Suma, and Imelda.
