Devoted father and father-in-law of Lauree Wise, Heidi Wise and Lorne Galler, Naomi Wise and Peter Saint Laurent, Jonathan (Jono) Wise and Carrie Bogante. Proud grandfather of Mark and Sam Galler; Rebekah and Julian Wise; Jordan and Douglas Wise. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Lionel and Beatrice Wise, Harold and Phyllis Wise; and brother-in-law of Lionel and Naomi Margolick. FERN, Claire (nee Lesser). Peacefully and with great dignity, in her 107th year, on October 20th, 2015. Devoted wife of the late Dr. Isidore Fern, both formerly of New York City. Beloved mother and mother in law of Marilyn and Brahm Elkin. Cherished grandmother of Lisa (Joseph Clement); Joshua (Molly Hale), Tucson, Arizona; Rosetta Sarah (Jason Lee), Cambridge, Mass; and Jeremy, New York City. Proud and loving great-grandmother to Matthew, Emily, Jacob, Julia and Alice Clement; Edward Elkin and Ezra Lee. Her strong love for family, insightful wisdom and sharp wit will be deeply and forever missed. The family gives special thanks to Loida, Glenn, Wendy and Kayla Solomon for their loving care and devotion and we are grateful to the staff of the 4th floor of the Kastner Pavillion at Jewish Eldercare for their warmth and respect. Beatrice (Bebe) Shtull

SHTULL, Beatrice (Bebe) (nee Goroff). After a full and wonderful life, Beatrice (Bebe) Shtull (née Goroff) died peacefully and with dignity on Saturday, October 17, 2015. She was predeceased by her devoted husband of sixty-four years, Alex Shtull, and by her beloved son Hershie Shtull. She will live on in the loving memory of her daughters and their partners, Naomi Sharpe, Izak Rubin, the late Colin Sharpe; Frances Adams, Robert Ross and Julian Adams; her daughter-in-law Norma Levitt; her grandchildren and their spouses, Marina Sharpe and Bill Sillery, Simon Sharpe and Anne Bruder; Lauren Adams, Claire Adams and Ellery Althaus, Joanna Adams; and great-granddaughter, Lila Sillery. Dear sister of the late Nina Baker, and sister-in-law of Rita Shtull. The family is grateful for the compassion of her caregivers, Fely, Aiza, and Gina. Bebe lived life to the fullest, inspiring us all with her energetic pursuits of arts and culture, Yiddishkeit, bridge, entertaining, travel, and much more. She will be fondly remembered by her many friends and by a generation of Jewish Peoples’ School students as their book-loving founding librarian. A Holocaust survivor. On Tuesday, October 20, 2015, surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of the late Laja Friling. Loving father and father-in-law of Dr. Joseph Szwimer and Cheryl Weiss, Morris Szwimer and Dr. Robin Kugelmass, and the late Philip Szwimer. Adoring Zaida of Jason, Daniel, Erica, Rachel, Julia, and Benji. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. The family would like to express their gratitude for the exceptional care and compassion provided by Dr. Ruby Friedman and the staff of the Jewish General Hospital, Rabbi Michael Wolff and doctors, nurses and staff of Maimonides, as well as Szlomo’s caregivers, Hanna, Sheena and Esther.
