In school Alice made her own costumes for plays and as early as five years old she would make her own doll clothes. Her fondest dream was to become a Phys. Ed. Teacher. She participated in countless sports and loved her dance classes. After school she worked in banking and as the wife of a military man, she had her five children across Canada, from British Columbia to Quebec. As a single mom, she worked long, hard hours but she still found time to play with her friends. In the 60’s Alice moved down to New York with one suitcase in hand to pursue a better life. She met and married her beloved soulmate Sid and briefly enjoyed retirement in Antigua in the West Indies. Upon Sid’s death at the age 57, she returned to the States and again took up her workaholic lifestyle. Alice retired 62 and moved back to Canada, first to B.C., then to Quebec and ultimately to Alberta. Alice never lost her love of crafting and volunteered her time to PARP in her later years. She would go and teach the people there to knit or crochet. She would talk, visit and share her story of the amputation of her leg to help other amputees. She loved people and people love her. Her passing will be mourned and she will be missed. A Celebration of Alice’s Life will be held at Graveside Service at Pettes Cemetery in West Brome, QC, on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 10:00 am.
