Penhale, John
John Penhale, formerly of North Hatley, passed away peacefully at the Bannerman Palliative Care Unit in Magog on January 19, 2017at the age of 77. Beloved husband of the late Colette (née Labbé).

John was the father of Anthony (Geneviève Guertin), Ann and Andrew (Marie-Ève Côté), and grandfather of Gabriel, Alexandra, Margaret and Henri. In the Penhale family, he was the son of the late Edith Evelyn McNaughton and of the late Alfred Lloyd Penhale, and the brother of Beverley Penhale (the late John Nicol), Bonnie Penhale (the late Anthony Malcom) and Ian Penhale (Lise Gendron). He was also the brother-in-law of Andrée Labbé (Darel Wright), the late Pierre Labbé (the late Nicole Fortin), France Labbé (Pierre Chateauneuf) and Louise Labbé (the late Benoît Cartier). He will also be mourned by his nephews along with many other relatives and friends.

Resting at Cass Funeral Home, 3006 College, Sherbrooke (Lennoxville) on Friday, January 27, 2017 from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the St Patrick's Catholic Church, 20 Gordon St, Sherbrooke, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., followed by the funeral service.

The family wishes to extend its appreciation to the staff of Place Sandborn in Ayers’ Cliff and to the doctors and staff of the Bannerman Palliative Care Unit in Magog for the excellent care given to John.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Memphremagog Hospital Foundation for the benefit of and use by the Bannerman Palliative Care Unit, 50, St. Patrice Street East, Magog, Quebec J1X 3X3 would be greatly appreciated.

Perkins, Chester (Chet) Ronald

September 29, 1925 – January 6, 2017

Chet Perkins, formerly of Danville, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2017 with family by his side at the Wales Home, Richmond, Quebec. He was 91 years of age.
Beloved husband for 58 years of the late Joan (née Webb). “Little” brother to the late Alfred (late Joyce MacIntosh), and Russell (late Margaret Atyeo) of Kingston, ON. He will be forever missed by his four loving children – Ken (Darlene Blades) of Bear River, NS, Ruth (Wayne Lucas) of Walterboro, SC, James (Shana Saunders) of Kanata, ON, and Esther (Doug Peters) of Pointe-Claire, QC, his 14 precious grandchildren – Candi (Ralf), Abram, Hannah, John, Sarah (Jon), Matthew, Elizabeth, Laura, Jessica (Justin), Justin (Kelsee), Jenna, Jacob, Corabella and Alice, as well as 4 great-grandchildren - Victoria, Noah, Marley, and Aurora.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 12 from 6:30-9:00 PM, and on Friday, January 13, from 9-11 AM at the Cass Funeral Home, Richmond (295 Rue Principale S, Richmond). The funeral service will be at the Wales Home (506 Rte 243 N, Richmond, QC) at 2 PM. Interment will be at a later date at the Danville Cemetery.

Chet – Dad – Grandpa – was known and loved by so many people. His deep Christian faith, character, wisdom and positive disposition gained him great respect and influence. All who were blessed to know him will continue to be inspired, encouraged and challenged to do more, complain less, and laugh until the tears flow.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff at the Wales Home for the exceptional care and love they showed Chet. He thoroughly enjoyed life at the Wales Home, and we are so grateful.

Picken (nee Dionne), Margaret
Margaret Dionne Picken, passed away peacefully at home in Richmond, Quebec on December 24th, 2016.

Born in South Durham, Quebec, on December 15th, 1929, she married George Picken on June 21st, 1947. Widowed in 1999, Margaret was the youngest and last surviving child of A. Robert Dionne and Veronica Duquet Dionne.

Left to mourn are her children Allen, Sandra (Brian Roberts), Brian (Helen Cox), Gail and Diane; her grandchildren Barry Roberts (Karine Brochu), Vicki Lynn Roberts, Michael Roberts (Debra Fancy), Julia Picken (Kenneth Tuff) and Jeff Picken; and her great grand children Brittany and Morgan Roberts, Michaela, Damian and Jesse Roberts, and Hudson, London and Mercedes Margaret Tuff. She is predeceased by her siblings Dr. William Dionne, Dr. Paul Dionne, Bernard Dionne RCAF, Aline Dionne Lynch and John Dionne, and her son Terry.

She leaves to mourn, her husband’s surviving siblings, Else Dunn, Frances (John Cunningham), Bernice Gillis, Beverline, Gordon and Gary (Lois Scott), as well as nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Resting at Cass Funeral Home, 295 Principale S, Richmond, where family and friends may call on Thursday, December 29, 2016 from 2 pm to 4 pm and from 7 pm to 9 pm, and on Friday, December 30, 2016 from 9 am to 10:45 am. Funeral services will be at 11 am on Friday, December 3 0, 2016 at Sainte-Bibiane Church, 970 Principale N, Richmond. Interment in Sainte-Bibiane Cemetery at a later date.

The family would like to thank the Richmond CLSC for the professional support and excellent care provided to Mrs. Picken.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the CLSC SAD Richmond, 980 rue McGauran, Richmond, QC, J0B 2H0, would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Harper, Frank
Passed away at the CHUS Hotel-Dieu in Sherbrooke, on Monday March 4th 2013, Mr. Frank Harper at the age of 79. Husband of the late Gabrielle Roy, and dear father of David (Nancy) and Dale. Dear grandfather of David (Cynthia), Melissa (Dennis) and Christian (Jennifer). Frank also leaves to mourn, his sister Sylvia (Ted) and many friends, and was pre-deceased by his sisters Mona and Francis. At his request, there will be no visitation. Interment of ashes will take place in the Windsor Protestant Cemetery on June 8, 2013 at 1:30 pm. Arrangements entrusted to the Cass Funeral Home, 310 St-Georges St., Windsor. 819-845-5229

Hartwell, George
Passed away at home as he had wished, on Saturday, February 16th, 2013 at the age of 77. Beloved husband and soul mate of Elizabeth Hartwell (Anderson). Loving father of Krista (John Shepard) and the late Michael ; step-father of Scott Coote (Terry Moore) and Alyson Coote (Fred Wright). Cherished step-grandfather of Emilie and Julia Coote, Brandon and Ashley Wright. Leaving many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Visitation on Saturday, February 23rd, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 11a.m. at : St.Andrews Presbyterian Church, 256 Queen St. Lennoxville, QC followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. Rev. John Barry Forsyth officiating. Harper, Robert
Peacefully, at the Wales Home, with his children at his side, Robert Arthur Harper passed away on January 4th, 2013, in his 92nd year. Bob was a veteran of WW11, 1939-1945, having landed on Juno Beach on D-Day with the 3rd Anti-tank, 3rd Cdn Div. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy Smith. Cherished father of Linda (Dan McMahon), Valerie (Dale MacLeod), Jim (Ann King), Jocelyn (Bruce Bennett), Treasured Grampa of Angela Goodin (Allan), Michael Goodin (Marie Josée), Robert MacLeod (Melanie), Grant MacLeod (Tara), Tom and Kelly Harper, Stephanie and Michael Bennett. Loving Great Grandfather to Justin and Megan Flynn, Alixia, Maya, and Edward Goodin, Brittany, Ashley and Dillon MacLeod, Samantha Garfat, Brianna Harper Coates, and Great Great Grandfather to Jayden. He will be sadly missed by many dearly loved Nieces and Nephews. Dear brother of Ethel (the late Doug Stoddard), and brother-in-law of Vera and Jackie Harper. Predeceased by siblings Lillian (Allan Brazenall), William (Vera), Bertha (Ralph Joyce), Eva (Coates, Wm Jewkes), Beatrice (Garnet Card), Thomas (Jackie). Dear brother-in-law of Elsie Smith (Gibson Hearns), and the late Ralph Smith, Maude Smith (Fearon Goodhue), and Catherine Lewis. Family and friends are invited to share in a time of remembrance on Saturday the 12th of January from 2pm to 5pm at the Armoury Community Center, Bury, Que. A light lunch will be served. Hobbs, Earle William
Passed away at the CHUS Fleurimont, on Thursday December 27th 2012, Mr. Earle W. Hobbs in his 90th year. Loving husband of 64 years to Carol Jameson, and loving dad to Marilyn and Karen (Steven Thorneloe). Dear grandfather of Aaron and Evan Turner, and Eric (Hillary) and Amy Thorneloe. Earle also leaves to mourn, his dear cousin, Diane (George Clark), and his nephew Ian MacLachlin (Bonnie), along with many other relatives and dear friends. Earle was pre-deceased by his parents, William E. Hobbs and E. Louise Hobbs (nee Evans), and his sister Shirley. Resting at the Cass Funeral Home, 3006 College St., Sherbrooke (Lennoxville) QC, where friends may visit on Wednesday January 2nd 2013 from 1 to 2 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Hastings, Arthur
On Sunday, the 9th of December, with his sons at his side, Mr. Arthur Hastings went peacefully to be with his Lord. Predeceased by his wife of 59 years Jessie, he leaves to mourn his sisters Helen McGovern and Elizabeth Stewart as well as his sons Dale (Louise) and Richard (Susan). Known as Bampy to his seven grandchildren, Shawn, Jeffery, Scott, Stephanie, Jill, Mark and Brian, Arthur was proud of every one of them and the partners they have chosen. A recent recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II, Diamond Jubilee Medal, Arthur was a fiercely proud Canadian. He served in the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps during WWII and afterward, continued his career with Canadian Pacific Railway. A past president of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 10, Art thoroughly enjoyed suppers at the Legion on Friday nights with his comrades. An active Mason and Past Master of Victoria Lodge, Arthur was grateful for the support he received from his brethren during his illness. Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Friday, December 14, from 7 to 9 P.M at the Cass Funeral Home, 3006 College St. Sherbrooke (Lennoxville). A Legion Service will be held at 7 pm and a Masonic Service at 7:30 pm. A graveside service on Saturday, December 15 at 2 P.M. at Reedsville Cemetery in North Hatley, Reverend Mead Baldwin officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society will be gratefully acknowledged.

Hartley, Lyle
Passed away at the Coaticook Hospital on Thursday, November 8, 2012, at the age of 72. Son of the late Sidney Hartley and the late Margaret Keeler. Cherished husband of Sylvia Goodsell and loving father of: Terry (Lynda) Cathy (Doug), and Wayne. Precious grandfather of:Kelly Dubois, Matthew, Jeremy, Terah-Lyn, Faith, Christian, Adam, Victoria, Mary, Kassandra, Kayla, and Deacon.; Lyle will also be sadly missed by his great grandchildren Ava, Evan, Levi, Jensen, and Addisyn, Dear brother of Alcide, Cedric and the late Leland. Lyle also leaves to mourn his brother-in-law Pat (Jo), many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A graveside service will be held in Crystal Lake cemetery on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Barbara Wintle officiating. Hunt, Bruce H.
Nov. 5, 1925 - Oct. 28, 2012

passed away peacefully at the CHUS in Sherbrooke, QC. Loving husband of 64 years to Charlotte (Whitcomb), dear father of Dianne (Joe Prah) Lennoxville; Barry (Lise Journault) P.E.I.; Brenda Watts (Dave), Ottawa and the late Jim. Very proud grandfather of Mike and Eric Prah, and Matthew and Anne-Marie Hunt; uncle to Hugh, Ross and Ian Hunt, predeceased by brother Gordon (the late Jean). Also greatly missed by many relatives and friends, old and new. Visitation will take place at the Cass Funeral Home, 3006 College, Sherbrooke (Lennoxville Borough) on Tues., Oct. 30th, from 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Wed., Oct. 31st at 2 p.m. at St-Peter's Anglican Church in Cookshire, Quebec (highway 108). Followed by burial at the Eaton Cemetery nearby with a reception at the St-Rosaire Catholic Church in Sawyerville. As memorial tributes, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
