Richard, Rosario

Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the C.S.S.S. Memphremagog on Monday, October 10, 2011, at the age of 93. Beloved husband of the late Jeannette Isabelle and cherished father of :Claudette (Junior) and Micheline (Paul). Adoring grandfather of: Michael (Kim), Anne (Paul), Jeffrey (Emilie), Scott (Anne-Marie), and Jessica (Yannick); Rosario will also be sadly missed by his great-grandchildren: Alyssa, Christopher, Jason, Matthew, Vivianne, Norah, and Lydia; along with his special friend Cecile Maclure, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Resting at the Cass Funeral Home, 545 Dufferin, Stanstead 819-876-5213 on Friday, October 14, 2011, where friends may visit from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 t0 9:00 p.m. also on Saturday October 15 from 10:00 a.m. until departure for the church at 10:50. A funeral service will be held in the Sacred Heart Church at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment in Mont Ste. Marie cemetery. As a tribute to his memory, donations made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 2630 King West. Bureau 100, Sherbrooke, QC. J1J 2H1 would be greatly appreciated by the family. They wish to express their most sincere thanks to the staff on the 6th floor for the wonderful care and kindness given to Rosario.

Royea, Ross

Passed away suddenly at the C.S.S.S. Memphremagog on Thursday, September 29, 2011, at the age of 84. Cherished husband of Irene Julien and loving father of Michael. Dear brother of Margaret in California. Ross will also be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. There will be visitation in the presence of his ashes at the Cass funeral Home, 545 Dufferin, Stanstead 819-876-5213 on Thursday, October 6. 2011, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. followed by a celebration of his life in the chapel, with Reverend Barbara Wintle officiating. Interment will take place at a later date.

Wallace, Richard

RICHARD REID WALLACE 1922-2014 After a long and courageous battle with his illness, it is with great sadness that we announce the death of Richard Reid Wallace on April 9, 2014. He leaves to mourn his wife Theresa and his four daughters ; Sandra (Walter Pare), Shirley (Hugh McNeal), Pearl (Wesley Webb), and Lena (Andrew Edwards); He leaves 9 grandchildren, 2 (step-grandchildren), 7 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends, A graveside funeral will be held at a later date. A special thank you to the nurses and nurses aids at the Magog Hospital Residence for the incredible care that he received over the last few years. Forever in our hearts.

Way Norris, Margaret

Passed away at the CHUS Fleurimont, Sherbrooke, QC on Monday January 13, 2014 at the age of 74 years. Beloved wife of Allan Norris and dear mother of Robert Dezan, Larry Dezan and Marlene Cole and stepmother of Cheryl Norris, Garry Norris, Kim Norris (Michel Martel) and Steven Norris (Myoung Sun). She also leaves to mourn 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Margaret was predeceased by her sister Vera Cunnington and her brother John Way. Resting at the Cass Funeral Home, 3006 College St., Sherbrooke (Lennoxville), QC on Saturday January 18, 2014 from 12:30 to 2:30 pm followed by the funeral service at 2:30 pm. Venerable Dean Ross officiating. Burial at Malvern Cemetery at a later date.

Witham Salvas, Marjorie Rita

Passed away peacefully at the CHUS Hotel-Dieu, Sherbrooke, on January 1, 2014 at the age of 87. Beloved wife of Dr. Maxime Salvas, and mother of Peter and Dorothy (Peter Tucker). Dear grandmother of Victoria, Antonia, and Max Salvas, and Matthew and Shannon Tucker. Visitation will be held on Friday January 3 at the Cass Funeral Home, 3006 College, Sherbrooke (Lennoxville) from 7 to 9PM, and on Saturday from 12:30 to 1:45 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday January 4th at 2:00 PM with Rev. James Potter and Rev. Ronald West officiating. Interment in the Malvern Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Wales Home Foundation, 506 Rte 243N, Richmond, QC J0B 2H0 or to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

Wootten Vogell, Barbara

Born May 9, 1918 in Sherbrooke, QC, and passed away peacefully at the Wales Home on Wednesday, October 21, 2015. Beloved wife of the late Joseph (Joe) Vogell, and dear friend and companion of the late Lionel Dube. Loving mother of Eleanor Twyman (Charles), Gordon Vogell (Marilyn) and Lois Forgrave (Lynwood). Cherished "Grammy GoGo" of Sheryl (Rod), Joanne (Mike), Janis (Kelly), Kristopher (Angie), Brandon (Christine) and Kathryn (Lisa). Proud "Great Grammy GoGo" of 13 great grandchildren. Barbara lived most of her life in Cookshire, where after Joe's passing she worked many years at the Post Office. She was active in The Eastern Star, The United Church, the school library, and the Cookshire cemetery. She took trips to many countries, and enjoyed friends and activities around the town. Interment at the Cookshire Cemetery at a later date. In her memory, donations may be made to the Cookshire Cemetery or The Wales Home.

Thomson, Caitlyn
1990 – 2017

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Caitlyn Thomson-Wallis on Thursday July 27, 2017 at the CSSS Memphremagog, at the age of 27. Dear daughter of Clifford Lee Wallis and Deborah Thomson of Ayer’s Cliff.

Caitlyn will be missed by her sisters Kylie (Josh), Kaleana (Alex) and brother Dylan (Sav); her grandparents Linda Goodsell, Mario Claveau, Marsha and Clifford Wallis, her niece Emma-Lee and special friend Étienne Vanasse. She also leaves to mourn many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

The family will receive condolences from those who loved Caitlyn at the Cass funeral home, 900, Clough St., Ayer’s Cliff, on Friday August 4, 2017 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. A gathering to celebrate her life will follow at 315, Cloutier Rd, Stanstead-East.

Taylor Wilson, Gwendolyn

Passed away at the CHUS Hotel-Dieu, on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at the age of 71. Beloved wife and best friend of Wayne Wilson.
Loving mother to Penny Normington, Sarah Wilson (Greg Nunn), Tammy McCurnin (Bill McCurnin) and Tim Wilson (Melanie Lalonde). Cherished grandmother of Amanda and Justin Normington, Tyler Leier and Sierra Nunn, Abbi Wilson and Ben Lalonde.
Gwendolyn leaves to mourn her sisters Waneta Luce (the late Adelbert Luce) and Shirley Downs (Mel Downs), her sister-in-law Frances Taylor (the late Sternie Taylor), along with her nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
Visitation will take place at the Cass Funeral Home, 3006 College St. Sherbrooke (Lennoxville), on Friday, March 24, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at the Grace Chapel Church (267 Montreal, St. Sherbrooke), on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 2:00 pm with a visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at the church. Interment at the Eaton Cemetery at a later date.

Thomson Smyth, Mary
August 19, 1922-February 28, 2017

Mary (Thomson) Smyth of Bury, Quebec passed away at the CHUS Hotel-Dieu on February 28, 2017, in her 95th year. Born in Cornhill, Banffshire, Scotland, Mary was the daughter of the late James Thomson and the late Annie Bain. Predeceased by her husband of 60 years Chester Smyth.

Loving mother to Shirley (Robert MacLeod), Larry (Joanne Chapman) and Richard (Jeannette Fortier). Proud Nanny to Edward Rudolph (Renée), Deborah Wootten (Mike), Tamara Lawrence, Cynthia Nowoczin (Blaine), David Smyth, Brandy Vallée (Jean), Ryan Norton (Sarah), Joshua Smyth, Ashley Renton (Jamie) and Ericka Smyth. Great Gramma to Tiffany, Kristen, Cameron, Jesse, Morgan, Martina, Keegan, Kole, Mariah, Shania, Danyka, Elijah, Jaya, Emmerson, Ben, Hailey, Denan, Mason, Karrah, Kyle, Brianna and Emma. Great-Great Gramma to Austin, Paetyn and Sydney. Sister to Robert (Pearl) Archibald.

Predeceased by her son Raymond, granddaughter Brandy Smyth, brothers Alexander and John Archibald, and brothers and sisters-in-law Earl Smyth, Hilda (Daniel Lawrence), Julia Smyth, Evelyn (Jack Garneau) and Howard (Ethel Dougherty).

Visitation will take place on Saturday May 27, 2017 at St-Paul's Church, Bury from 10 am to 11 am. The funeral service will follow at 11 am. Burial in Bown Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Bown Cemetery would be appreciated by the family.

Turpin, John Alfred (Dick)

John Alfred Turpin (Dick) D.F.C., age 92, passed away at Camp Hill Veterans’ Memorial hospital in Halifax, on Friday, February 10, 2017. He was born on June 29, 1924 in Quebec City, son of Captain William and Olive M. Turpin, of Quebec City, Quebec, and loving husband of Grace Louise Turpin (deceased 2005).

Dick was a graduate of Quebec High School before enlisting in the RCAF 20 July 1942. His first tour of operations was in Bomber Command as a Navigator and Air Bomber, one of the most dangerous assignments of the Second World War. During his tour of 30 sorties he carried out 23 attacks on enemy territory by day and night. Dick was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC) for officers and Warrant Officers for acts of valour, courage or devotion to duty performed whilst flying in active operations.
After the war, Dick attended Bishops University and graduated in 1949 with a degree in Education. He began his teaching career at Hudson High School in Hudson, Quebec, teaching English and Math while coaching the senior boys’ hockey team. Dick then obtained his Masters in guidance counselling from Harvard University. He went on the set up the guidance counselling program for the English language school system in the Eastern Townships of Quebec.

Dick was active in local events that included at one point President of Rotary Club, energetic involvement in the Lennoxville Curling Club and various charities. He was instrumental in converting an abandoned rail-bed in Lennoxville into a walking trail. Dick was a fun, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to anyone who knew him. He was also an avid and talented artist.

Dick is survived by three dear children Bill (Lindsay Brown), Nancy (Bruce Dowd) and Peter (Anne Turpin); beloved grandfather of three grandchildren Jason (Maggie), Rob (Kalli) and Michael (Stephanie) and two great-grandchildren, Alex and Frank. He was the brother of Charles, the late Pearl Raynes, the late Phyllis (Turpin/Jenkins) Smart, the late Grace Parker, the late Richard Turpin and the late Thomas Turpin. Dear sister-in-law Ann Sowerby (late Ray) and brother-in-law Douglas Macdonald (late Margaret).

Visitation will take place at the Cass Funeral Home, 3006 College St. Sherbrooke (Lennoxville), on Friday, May 12, 2017 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Interment in Malvern Cemetery.
