BEAR, James, passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2001 at the age of 52 years. Predeceased by his mother Elsie Beatrice Bear; two sisters Loretta Wessel and Patricia Bear; two brothers Nelson Bear and John Glen Bear in infancy; grandson High Boy James Bear and by his grandparents Paul Bear and Edna (Wajunta) Bear. James is survived by his loving wife Priscilla; four children: Kenton (Nadine), Kendall, Kenroy (Brandi), Kendra and his special adopted son Justin Whiteman; special nephew Leland; niece Eleice; five grandchildren Kayla, Joseph, Chance, Mariah, Shayla; sisters Jan Brown (Wilson), Fern Bear, Stephanie (Garnet) Bear; brothers Robert, Art, Terence, Keith and Jason. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 30, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. in the Community Centre at Standing Buffalo First Nations with Rev. W Wojtkowiak OMI, celebrant. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Light Cemetery. The Wake Service will be held on Sunday, July 29, 2001 at 5:00 p.m. also in the Community Centre. GIBNEY, Samuel Matthew on Wednesday July 25, 2001 passed away peacefully at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre at the age of 88 years. Sam is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Rosalie, and their three children, Sandra (Roxby) Hughes of St. Albert, AB (Craig and Braden); James (Maureen) Gibney of Calgary, AB (Tyler and Leigh); Susan (Paul) Mehlsen of Regina, SK (Leif, Erik and Alix). Sam treasured his family. Sam was an active citizen of the community all his life. While serving in the army Sam married Rosalie in 1943. He owned and operated Gibney's Men's Wear for over 40 years and also travelled throughout Saskatchewan and Manitoba for Sainthill Uniforms. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, July 30th at 2:00 p.m. at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre, Highway #10 East. Interment to follow in the family plot at Yorkton City Cemetery. HAYES, ISABELLE (Wotton), On Thursday, July 26, 2001 Isabelle passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer at Kipling Hospital at the age of 73 years. Isabelle was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Barney (Tom); and three sisters: Annie, Ruth and Betty. In her passing she leaves to mourn her daughter, Lynn Stephen (Roland) and their family, Dane and Danielle, Emerald Park, SK, her son, Larry Baker (Loretta) Esterhazy, SK, their family, Chad (Marie) and their children: Samuel and Luke, Gerald, SK, and Scott, St. Walburg, SK, brothers: Jack (Anne) Wotton, Smith Falls, ON and Albert (Shirley) Wotton, Taber, AB, and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. HILL, On Friday, July 27, 2001 Alice McColl Hill, late of Regina, Sask., passed away at the age of 77 years. She was predeceased by her husband Allan Gordon Hill and her daughter Nancy Schell. Alice is survived by her daughters Betty (Hank) Leusink and Muriel (Elgin) Pryce of Wawota, SK; grandchildren Debbie (Barry) Chessall, John (Karin) Leusink, Suzanne (Bryan) Kirton, Craig Sagert, Michael Schell and Danelle Schell and nine great-grandchildren as well as numerous other relatives in Scotland and England. Phillip is survived by his sisters Therese Bigsky and Lillian Bigsky; his wife Beatrice Bruce Bigsky; children Orvan Bruce, Darwin Bigsky and Joanne Bigsky; as well as numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. DURBIN, On Sunday, July 15, 2001 Leverne Durbin (Fjoser) peacefully passed away surrounded by her family and friends, at the age of 69, after a courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by her parents, Robert and Hilder; brother Vernon; sister-in-law Pam; and two nephews. Leverne is survived by her loving husband of fifty-two years, George; one son Randy (Laura); two daughters, Cindy (Rick) James, Debbie (Rob) Sillinger; six grandchildren: Barrett, Tamara, Kellen, Breanne, Stacey, Sheryl; two brothers, Howard Fjoser, Alden (Bernice) Fjoser; sister-in-law Marilyn (Jim) Paisley; brother-in-law Tom Durbin; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Leverne was employed at McGavins Bakery from 1951 until its closure, Carlton Cards for four years; then volunteered at the Pasqua Hospital Gift Shop until May 2000. Leverne loved spending time with her family at the cottage on Pasqua Lake in the Qu'Appelle Valley. She had a very big heart and was always there to lend a helping hand or just to listen when you needed someone to talk to. Leverne loved playing bingo, doing crafts with the grandchildren and watching Hockey Night in Canada; especially Don Cherry. Leverne will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Ave. with Rev. Robert Leeson officiating.
