HONAN, On Sunday, July 15, 2001, Mary Honan (nee Gartner), late of Regina passed away at the age of 82 years. Predeceased by her parents; four brothers; and one sister. Mary is survived by her husband, Clifford; two brothers, Tony and Jerome; one sister Anastasia; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 18, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. in Good Samaritan R.C. Church, 425 Broad Street North with Rev. Joseph Nabywaniec presiding. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park. Flowers gratefully declined. KNAUS, ADAM of Last Mountain Pioneer Home, Strasbourg and formerly of Govan passed away July 16, 2001 at the age of 88 years. Predeceased by an infant daughter Irene Anne. He leaves to mourn Anna his loving wife of 65 years, one son Wilfred (Valerie), two step-sons Walter (June) and Elmer (Lillian) Kelln, one sister Helen (George) Pidhorney, nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2001 at 2 P.M. from Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Govan. Rev. Martin Olson officiating. Interment: Govan Cemetery. Hansen's Funeral Home, Strasbourg in care of arrangements. PAWSON, Gently on Thursday, July 5, 2001 Hattie Searle Pawson R.N. died peacefully in her 88th year. A dedicated person, who spent her lifetime caring for others, will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. Hattie was predeceased by her parents Samuel and Mary, her sister Ruth, brothers Ben, Hal and Ray as well as brother-in-law Lloyd McIntosh. Left to cherish her memory are sisters Searle (Ed) Dufour, Shirley McIntosh, brother Lloyd (Mary), sisters-in-law Nellie Pawson and Claudia Pawson, many nieces and nephews in Canada and Australia and by her dear friend Irene Hanna. A registered nurse by profession, she spent her whole life in Regina, city of her birth. She was fond of travel, enjoyed sports and at an earlier time, was a respected horsewoman. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 9, 2001 in Regina Cemetery, 4th Avenue Entrance (meet at cemetery gate at 10:55 a.m.) with a service of praise and thanksgiving at Knox-Metropolitan United Church, 2340 Victoria Avenue the same day at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Robert A. Kitchen officiating. Flowers gratefully declined. Those wishing may donate to the Knox-Metropolitan Memorial Fund or a charity of choice. Arrangements in care of Speers Funeral Chapel and Crematorium Services.

POPE, VIOLET passed away peacefully from Parkinson's Disease on July 6, 2001 at the age of 85 years. Predeceased by her husband William in 1964; her parents: Walter and Lucy Criddle; one sister Gladys in childhood; and her brothers: George and Harry. Violet leaves to mourn her memory: one son Gordon (Lynda) Pope and their children: Gary, Mitch and Brittany; and one daughter Cynthia (Clifford) Potetz of Lajord and their children: Jennifer (Robert) Hatton of Regina and Ryan Potetz; one sister Lucy Forbes of Moose Jaw; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at the Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East. Cremation. Interment will follow at Kronau Lutheran Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers are those who touched the life of Violet and her family in their own special way. The family would like to acknowledge and thank Jim and Sandra Senga and Staff of Kinmara Care Home in Regina for the wonderful, compassionate care given to Mom and to her family for the past seven years, and to our extended family (the residents of Kinmara). We cannot begin to thank you enough for being there for us. Thank you to Dr. Warden for the special care, and to the staff at the Pasqua Hospital who we've gotten to know since 1995, as well as the nurses from Wee Care, Total Care and Dove Care. STRONGEST, Madgelene (Madge) passed away July 6, 2001 at the age of 87 years, peacefully in her sleep at Pioneer Village. Madge was predeceased by her husband Ben in 1973. She was born on a homestead in Fir Mountain, Sk. on November 7, 1913. Madge grew up in Regina and for twenty plus years was the manageress/hostess at the King's Hotel in Regina. Her expertise in organizing and planning banquets and receptions was always enjoyed and appreciated. She is survived by her brother Spencer Duff Checkley of Kirkland Lake, Ont.; sister Octa White of Port Coquitlam, B.C.; nephew Kenneth (Michaelene) McCandless of Maple Ridge, B.C.; as well as several nieces and nephews; Madge's special niece and loving friend, Betty McCandless. Very special thanks and appreciation to the caregivers and nursing staff at Pioneer Village. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. in Regina Pioneer Village Chapel, 430 Pioneer Drive with Rev. Canon John E. Matheson officiating. TAYLOR, MR. "DOUG" NORMAN DOUGLAS TAYLOR of Regina, SK passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 26, 2001 at the Regina Pioneer Village at the age of 79 years. Doug was born in Moose Jaw, SK on December 7, 1921. At the age of 17, he enlisted underage and then served with the 77th Battery, 3rd field regiment of the Royal Canadian Artillery. He was subsequently shipped overseas and participated in the liberation of Italy until he was discharged at the end of the war in 1945. He married Norma Goessaert in 1946 in Regina where he resided until the time of his passing. He worked in the refrigeration industry until his retirement at the age of 65. Doug loved curling, square dancing, hunting and playing cards. In later years, he really enjoyed camping throughout Canada and the United States with family and friends. Besides his loving wife Norma, Doug is survived by his children: Brian (Lorraine) Taylor of Lethbridge, AB, David (Cindy) Taylor of Regina, SK, and Diane Taylor of Nelson, BC; six grandchildren: Craig, Shelley (Tuan), Monty, Ward, Shauna and Jerrett; one great-grandchild Quinn; and two brothers: Wilf (Rita) of Victoria, BC, and Albert (Sheila) of Winnipeg, MB. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nursing staff and the caregivers at the Regina Pioneer Village. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at the Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East, on Friday, July 13, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Doug's memory may be made to a charity of your choice. BERGREEN - VIOLET J. Mrs. Violet J. Bergreen, daughter of pioneers James Elizabeth Millions, died peacefully Wednesday, December 12, 2001 at Edmonton. She is survived by her daughter Mildred Jowsey and (John), grandchildren Glenda McElwain, Sheila (Jim) Gregoire, Neil (Janis) Jowsey, Sharon (Glenn) Price, Janelle Jowsey, and great grandchildren Meaghan and Brian McElwain; Phillip, Bruce and Rosemarie Gregoire; Lauren, Kevin and Andrew Jowsey; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Violet is predeceased by her loving husband Laud, her brothers Arthur, Victor, Hilliard, and her twin sister Mildred. Violet was born at Carnduff, NWT, October 10, 1902. She was an elementary school teacher in various prairie locations prior to marriage. She was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star, long time member of the Rebeka Lodge and the United Church. Violet enjoyed a good health for most of her 99 years, and enjoyed her family tremendously. She and Laud lived in Francis, Saskatchewan for 19 years before retiring to Regina. At the age of 90 she moved to Edmonton to be near her family and resided at Canterbury Manor. She made new acquaintances and renewed relationships with friends, nieces and nephews in the area. Memorial Service at the Chapel of Canterbury Court, 8403 142 Street, Edmonton, Sat. Dec. 15, 2:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to charity of choice.
