BURNS, MacINTOSH STEWART,
Notice dated: 12/29/2001
Regina, SK.
"We shall be with you in the fellowship of the spirit and surely you will meet some of us as you trudge the road of happy destiny. BURNS MacINTOSH STEWART - born on September 25, 1929, joined his "higher power" and ceased the trudge of this world's road on December 19, 2001. Survived by his wife and friend, Kathy Daze; son Jeremy Daze and scores of friends. Burns was a proud Canadian, a "Scots", and an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous for thirty years. He was a member of the Eureka Fellowship Society in Regina and his AA home group was Novalco. A "broadcast" journalist, as he liked to say, Burns was distinguished by his snowy white hair, beard and hearty laugh. He toiled along in the "mother" corporation, CBC, as a television news producer. It is fitting that Burns should move on at this time of year, which he loved - Santa always to children and the young at heart. He finished out his working career as a speechwriter for the Government of Saskatchewan. Burns was generous to a fault, a patron of the arts, particularly visual arts, and was appreciated by all for his inquiring mind, keen intellect and subtle wit. A spiritual man who loved generously and unconditionally himself, Burns received the reciprocal love of countless friends from every walk of life. Friends and family express their deepest gratitude to the staffs at Sunset Extendicare, Pasqua Hospital, General Hospital and Gemini Personal Care Home for the outstanding care that he received. Cremation and interment in Burns' hometown of Maxwell, Ontario will occur at a later date. A celebration of Burns' life will be held at the Eureka Club, 1812 Arthur Street, on SUNDAY, DECEMBER 30, 2001 AT 2:00 P.M. (Please note date). The format will be an "open, call up AA meeting." Lunch, fellowship and music will follow. The family and friends of Burns welcome all who knew him, to attend. Flowers gratefully declined. Friends so wishing may make donations, in memoriam, to the Eureka Fellowship Society. Arrangements in care of Speers Funeral Chapel and Crematorium Services.
