JANIS - Marian Margaret Janis, passed away peacefully at the Pasqua Hospital on Thursday, February 7, 2002 at the age of 87 years. Marian was predeceased by her husband Charles; son Kenneth; sisters Gladys Bonk and Stella Dever, and brother Frank. She is survived by her daughters Karen (Bob) Brennan and Evelyn of Vancouver; sons Bob (Jackie) of Edmonton and Ed of Regina; grandchildren Jocelyn, Jarret and Janelle of Edmonton; sisters Frances Bolen, Edith Bolen, Rose Buschta, Helen Graham and Eleanor Balabuck and brothers Edward (Yvonne), Joseph (Clara), Stanley, George (Ann) and Lawrence (Eveline). The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, February 11, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Cross R.C. Church, 325 Douglas Ave with Rev. Norm Marcotte, celebrant. Prayers will be held on Sunday, February 10, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Unser-Rist Funeral Home, 2080 E. Victoria Ave. Marian will be deeply loved and missed by her family and friends. KADASH, Joe - With deep sorrow we announce the passing of Joseph Ernest Kadash February 8, 2002, at Parkside Extendicare. Born in the Kipling area February 10, 1914, Joe leaves to mourn his loving wife, Margaret (Szakacs), of 62 years. Also left to cherish his memory are his sons Bill (Carol) and Bob (Judy). Grandchildren who will fondly remember him slipping them something for their piggy banks at family visits many years ago are; Scott (Crystal), Trish (Darren Bezborotko), Michelle and Breanna. Great-grandchildren are Lindsay and Chandler Bezborotko. His brothers Charlie, Jim, and Louie, and his sister Patsy also survive him and will remember him with love. Joe was predeceased by his parents Charles and Barbara (Kovatch) and sisters Bertha, Irene, Helen, Sophie, brothers John and Alec, and in-laws Bert and Rose Szakacs. Joe was a forty-three-year employee of SaskTel. He retired after many happy years of employment in l979. Leading a quiet and honest life, he never forgot where he came from. He enjoyed telling stories of life on the family farm and being with his loved ones. The family wishes to thank the staff at Parkside Extendicare for many years of excellent care and compassion for Joe. A memorial service will be held at Memorial Gardens Monday, February 11, 2002 at 2:00 p.m., with Reverend John Ferrier officiating. Internment and reception to follow. Family and friends are invited to join in the celebration of Joe's life. God bless our telephone pioneer.

ANDERSON - HERMAN CARL ANDERSON of Assiniboia went home to his Lord and Saviour on Sunday, February 10, 2002 at the age of 77. After a brief illness, his last days were spent as he wanted them to be; in the care of his family; at home with dignity, comfort and peace. He is survived by Edith, his loving wife of 50 years; children Wendell (Jean), Barbara (Gerard) Bergeron, Beverly (Frank) McCormack; grandchildren Lori, Kari, Jason, Melissa, Brian, Brenna, brother Clarence (Lyda), sisters Evelyn (Ralph) Karasinski, Lois (Rodger) Forsman. Herman was predeceased by his parents, Carl and Inga and his infant brother, Gordon. After a lifetime of farming in the Congress district, Herman and Edith "retired" to their home in Assiniboia in 1992 where Herman enjoyed a wonderful retirement. He enjoyed an ever-widening circle of friends that he met on the golf course, the curling rink, the bowling lanes, in church and on the streets. To all these people that enriched Dad's life, his family are grateful. Herman enjoyed success as a farmer, but he knew that life is not measured by material possessions but by faith in God, love for his family and concern for his fellow man. In particular, he was dedicated to his church and served there as a leader and faithful servant his entire life. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 15, 2002 at 11:00 AM at Dominion Road Baptist Church, 405 Dominion Road, Assiniboia. A time of refreshments and fellowship to follow at St. George's Roman Catholic Parish Centre, 325 6th Ave. E. Interment at the Congress Baptist Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to Dominion Road Baptist Church or the Assiniboia Union Hospital Memorial Fund. Arrangements entrusted to Ross Funeral Service, 642-3373.

ENGLUND, Edward Richard (Dick),

ENGLUND - Edward Richard (Dick) - April 26, 1919 - February 10, 2002. It is with sadness that we announce the death of our dad, grandfather and friend. Dick passed peacefully at Sherbrooke Community Centre's Veterans Village. Predeceased by his parents Erik and Ada, brothers Ronnie and Robert. Left to mourn are wife Cecille, children Rick, Wayne (Marlise), Robert and Corrine (Marc) Boivin, five grandchildren Bryan, Nicole, Morgan, Jessica and Thomas, sisters Margret Murray and Alma Coyle and numerous other relatives. Dad was born in Melville Sk and resided in Bradwell Sk for most of his youth. He worked on the CNR until World War II at which time he volunteered to serve his country, he was stationed overseas Regiment L2798 for the duration of the war. He returned to Canada and his job at the CNR until his retirement in 1984. Dick will always be remembered for his quick wit and ability to put a smile on any face. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Our family wishes to express our heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Wascana Rehab Vets wing in Regina and Sherbrooke in Saskatoon for ensuring that dad's final years were met with dignity. A celebration of Dick's life will be held at Sherbrooke Community Center Chapel 401 Acadia Dr. at 2pm on Thursday, February 14 followed by Interment at Woodlawn Veterans' Cemetery.
