CUTLER - Clara Cutler, a long-time former resident of Winnipeg, and late of Regina, passed away at the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre in Regina, on October 8th, 2002, at the age of ninety-six, of complications of a debilitating stroke suffered sixteen years ago. Clara was born in Ratno, Russia in 1905, and emigrated to Winnipeg as a young child with her parents Pinhas and Bella Steingarten, and her brother David. Clara attended public and secretarial schools in Winnipeg, and utilized her exceptional management skills while associated in business with her husband Ben, whom she married in 1927, and who predeceased her in 1983. As well, she excelled as a homemaker, devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In her earlier years, she was a socially active person with a large circle of friends, and was a great dancer and Mah-Jongg and card-player. She also had outstanding culinary skills; festival and family dinners at the Cutler home were memorable events for the often large number of guests. She was a member of Shaarey Zedek (Winnipeg) and Beth Jacob (Regina) synagogues, and a member of Hadassah. A Life Scholarship in Clara and Ben's names was established many years ago at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Clara was predeceased by her husband Ben, her parents Pinhas and Bella Steingarten, her brother David, and her half-brother Ben Neiman. She is survived by son Noel and daughter-in-law Barbara of Regina, grandchildren David (Andrea), Jeffrey (Linda), Brenda (Tom) and Paul (Jennifer), seven great-grandchildren, and numerous other relatives. A graveside service was held at Shaarey Zedek Memorial Park in Winnipeg on October 10th, 2002; Rabbi Alan Green officiating. Pallbearers were Jeffrey Cutler, Brenda Cutler Douglis, Paul Cutler, Neil Cutler, Aaron Cutler and Leonard Steingarten. For those wishing to do so, donations in Clara's memory may be made to the charity of their choice.

FROHLICK - Marie Ann (Siekaw itch) December 11, 1919 - October 17, 2002. It is with deep sorrow that the family of Marie Frohlick announce her passing at the Regina Pioneer Village. Marie was predeceased by her husband Gabriel in 1985; parents Barbara and Frank Siekawitch and brother Clarence Siekawitch. Her memory will be cherished by daughter Louise (Keith) Kingsley; son Dennis (Tracy Drew) and granddaughters Kristy and D'Arcy. She is also survived by her sister Edna (Carl) Smith; brothers-in-law Jack, Tony, Stanley and Al Frohlick and sisters-in-law Barbara Hoffert, Theresa Miller, Madeline Karr and Alice Siekawitch; extended family members, Christopher, Craig, Mark and Ellen as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 21, 2002 at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary's R.C. Church, 2026 Winnipeg St., Regina, SK. with Rev. Lawrence Folk, celebrant. The interment will follow in Riverside Memorial Park. Prayers will be said on Sunday, October 20, 2002 at 7:30 P.M. in the Chapel of Lee Funeral Home, 3101 Dewdney Ave., Regina, SK. KOSIOR, PHYLLIS - It is with much sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother, Phyllis Kosior (Troisi) on October 15, 2002. Born in 1920 on October 30 in Fort William, Ontario, she is predeceased by her ex-husband, John Kosior; loving companion, Ray Johnston; parents, Filomena and Felix Troisi; brother, Joe Troisi; sister, Maragaret Seed and granddaughter, Debbie Kosior. She is survived by her loving children Joan (Wayne) Drouillard-Honig, Weyburn, SK; Doreen Karlson, Weyburn, SK; Donna (Edd) Patenaude, Edmonton, AB; Curt and (Jan) Kosior, Lacombe, AB; Brenda (John Evans) Beattie, Edmonton, AB; Steve Short, Calgary, AB; and Louise Edwards, BC; her brother, Nicky Troisi, Caledonia, ON; sisters Rose Zimac, Annette O'Leary, Amy Lenton all of Thunder Bay, ON. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Greg Greenhow, Laurel Lamont, Julian and Andre Drouillard, Leena Honig, Wanda Snow, LeAnne Karlson, Edmond, Michael and Jacqueline Patenaude, Janelle and Lana Kosior, Cory, Nina and Jaret Beattie, Jim Dexter, Chris and Lincon Edwards and her "extended grandchildren" Melissa, Tanya, Beau and Haley Johnston. Phyllis touched many lives, all of whom were enriched by knowing her wit, her caring and generous ways, her love of good food and her laughter. If you passed through her doors either as a friend, a boarder, a foster child or a special needs person, you found support, caring and comfort. Having lived in Weyburn over 50 years, she developed many long and lasting friendships. She was proud of her family and her accomplishments and shared a unique relationship with her grandchildren. To her children and grandkids, she left a legacy of courage, strength and love. McKAY, DONALD NORMAN - Don McKay passed away quietly at his home in Ross River, Yukon on October 10, 2002. He was predeceased by his parents Fraser and Jessie McKay. Don is survived by his wife Kathleen (nee Stockton) of 34 years and their children Bill of San Jose and Dawn Marie (Kris) Tienhaara and grandson Joshua of Thunder Bay. He is also survived by a brother Rick (Laurie) and family of Saskatoon. Don was born in Fairlight, Sask. on October 18, 1945. He attended high school in Maryfield and graduated from the University of Regina with a Bachelor of Education degree. Don and Kathleen ventured to the Yukon in 1971 as school teachers and fell in love with the north. They taught for a few years and then entered the business world. Together they owned and operated several businesses and have been proprietors of the Welcome Inn Hotel for the past 15 years. Don was an avid sportsman participating in hockey, curling and snowmobiling. He enjoyed the outdoors and hunting and fishing in the north. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. in the school gymnasium in Ross River. Anyone so wishing may make a donation in Don's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of their choice.

FORST - Julie, A respected member of the Swift Current community has died. Julie Forst, who, with her husband Bill, founded CJFB-TV in Swift Current, SK passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Thursday, October 3 after suffering a heart attack. Julie was an active member of the community and supported numerous charities, organizations and service clubs. She was a past director of the Swift Current Chamber of Commerce. Before co-founding CJFB-TV, a CBC affiliate, in Swift Current, Saskatchewan in 1957, Julie worked in radio in Red Deer, AB and Dawson Creek, BC, and also lived in Edmonton and Saskatoon. She became President of Swift Current Telecasting Co. and was General Manager of CJFB-TV until the station's signal was transferred to the CBC in May of 2002. Julie loved her family, music, nature, and her small dog Sparky. Her vitality, style, sense of humor, and love of life will be sorely missed. Julie is survived by Bill Forst and her daughters Deborah Forst and Darlene Forst. Funeral services took place Tuesday, October 8th at the First United Church in Swift Current, SK.
