KAYTOR, ARLENE,
Notice dated: 10/12/2002
Fort McMurray, AB McMurray, Alb
KAYTOR, ARLENE - The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1 Arlene passed away peacefully at home on August 2, 2002. She was 46 years old. Her faith was like a raging fire whose flame was used to ignite thousands of candles in people's hearts. These flickers of light, each on their own, will burn brighter and brighter for the Lord. Arlene will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her friend and husband Greg Lingelbach, son Mark and daughter Dana, all of Fort McMurray, Alberta. She is survived by her caring father Arthur Kaytor, stepmother Myra Kaytor, brothers Bob (Sylvia), Gordon (Dorothy), Mike (Brenda), Tony (Susan) and sister Carol (Ken) Bonifacio. God children Briane Kaytor, Landon Bigalky, Steven McKeown and Andrew Sinclair. Arlene was greatly loved and will be mourned by many nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends. Her mother Jean Kaytor predeceased her. Arlene touched the lives of so many and truly served the Lord with her actions. She gave comfort when the need for comfort was her own. She inspired us all to take the day we have and find the beauty within it. She brought to us strength for coping and managing in the most difficult times and desperate situations. Her gifts were as unique as the person she was and always they were bundled in love and care. Arlene was born in Lestock and grew up north of Punichy, a small rural community in Saskatchewan. She loved the peaceful quiet of growing up on the farm. When she was 7, her family moved to a farm at Cupar, Saskatchewan. With the loss of her mother, nine-year-old Arlene took on the kitchen and household duties of running the home. Even with these early responsibilities, she was able to foster lasting friendships and truly enjoy each day. She graduated in 1973 and trained as a Radiation Therapy Technician for the treatment of cancer patients in Regina, Sask. Arlene was an excellent clinician and truly cared for each individual she served. This is when she first met Greg and they traveled the world, sharing friendship, love and laughter. Over this period, Arlene held supervisory positions at cancer clinics in Regina, Saskatoon and Calgary. Her success was borne from the care and love of people. In 1988 she married Greg Lingelbach, and they moved to Calgary where their first child Dana was born. In 1992 her family moved to Fort McMurray where her son Mark was born. She loved her family, and life now revolved around them. Her Christian strength was growing by the day and she made many strong and lasting friendships. In 1993, Arlene was diagnosed with breast cancer and began aggressive chemotherapy treatments. Her church family of Christ the King rallied and soaked her in prayer with results that amazed the medical profession. Her faith in God and sheer will to raise her family gave her the strength to endure numerous setbacks over nine years. During this trial, Arlene shared God's love with many and arranged prayer for others. Although she did not get to hold her grandchildren, she set a solid foundation for her children in Christ, one that will sustain them their whole lives through and enable them to share the faith with their children. Arlene touched many lives in her 46 years and will be remembered for her enduring faith in God and for the love and care of each person she touched. Arlene's funeral was held on August 6th in Fort McMurray with interment at Abasand Cemetery. The funeral was officiated by Pastor Susan Horton of Christ the King Lutheran Church. If desired, donations can be made to The Children's Center, Lower Level Biggs Building, 100-9913 Biggs Ave. Fort McMurray AB, T9H 1S2. This week in memory of Arlene we ask that you provide an anonymous "Labour of Love" for someone in need - - a friend, a neighbor, a stranger.
