DADOUSH, Saliba Foti,
Notice dated: 01/06/2003
Parksville, BC
DADOUSH, Dr. Saliba Foti - Age 69, died in a tragic accident on December 26th, 2002 at one of his favorite spots in the world, French Creek Marina, Parksville B.C. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his loving wife and soul mate of 45 years, Angela; his devoted daughters Anne-Louise, Noelle, and Mae-Claire; his grand-children, Sean, Sasha, and Oliver; his two sons-in-law Bruce and Alessandro; his beloved brother Dr. Raja Dadoush, and his two sisters Leila and Linda. He will also be greatly missed by the entire extended family who stretch from South America, Europe, USA and the Middle East, including all the people whose lives he touched throughout his expansive medical career. Saliba attended St. George's School in Jerusalem Palestine and as a child dreamed of becoming a priest. He studied at King's College, London and Liverpool University, graduating with a degree in medicine from Edinburgh University in 1966. Upon completion of his residency, he joined the Jordanian Army where he served as a Captain in the Medical Corp. After surviving "The Six Day War", he returned to England to continue practicing medicine. In 1972, Saliba and his family emigrated to Canada. He was a family practitioner in Yorkton, Saskatchewan where he served energetically on many boards including Chief of Staff at Yorkton Union Hospital, and finally as the president of the East Central District Medical Society. Dr. Saliba Dadoush was an active participant in the community. Pilot, accomplished equestrian, passionate soccer enthusiast and perhaps most notably a keen sailor, Saliba taught his family to love life too. He was fortunate enough to escape the bitter cold for four years and work overseas for the World Health Organization on Saipan in the Northern Mariana Islands. Forced into early retirement in 1996 by a terrible car accident - Dr. Dadoush moved to Parksville, BC where he was reunited with all of his children. Saliba loved to fish on his beloved sailboat "Cryus", exercise his culinary expertise in Mediterranean cuisine and listen to his extensive classical music collection with Leo and Ulysses, his cats. A celebration of life will take place at his home on Saturday, January 11th from 1:00 -4:00 p.m. at 876 Cavin Rd., Parksville, BC (250)248-0098.
