Mrs. Gladys Amelia Fines
October 10, 1926 - October 13, 2007

Gladys passed away October 13, 2007 after a lengthy illness at Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. She was born in Bowser, B.C. on October 10, 1926 to Albin and Berthina Enstrom. After her father’s passing in 1928, Gladys and her family moved to the Ordale District in Saskatchewan. She grew up on her grandparents’ farm and attended Ordale School, which was a two-mile walk. When weather permitted, she and her family walked to church services at Concordia Lutheran Church but some days there would be horse drawn wagon or sleigh rides. She loved all the small animals on the farm, making pets of them all. Gladys had close friends on a farm close by and they remained friends all of their lives. She left home and went to work on a farm north of Mont Nebo, Saskatchewan where she met her future husband, Gordon. Gladys and Gordon were married on November 21, 1951 and enjoyed over 55 years of marriage together. They farmed in the Mont Nebo District for a number of years and then moved to Prince Albert in 1964. While she never had children of her own, Gladys enjoyed being around and babysitting all the little ones. She was a very caring, gentle and loving person and always had kind words about everyone. She was much loved and will be greatly missed by her family and all her friends. She is survived by her husband Gordon, her sister Agnes Mann, sisters-in-law Bernice Enstrom, Edna Fines, Lyla Fines and Betty Loth; brothers-in-law Harry (Dee) Fines, Vince Crawford and Mervin Madsen along with many nieces and nephews. Mr. Nicholas "Nick" Perdicaris
August 12, 1926 - October 17, 2007

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Nicholas (Nick) Perdicaris on Wednesday, October 17, 2007.
Nick passed away peacefully at the age of 81, with his family by his side.
Nick was predeceased by his parents George and Marika, brothers Panayioti, Vasili, Costa, Jim, John, sisters Sophia and Eleni and brother-in-law, Louie Tsougrianis. He is survived by his loving wife Penelope (Poppy) of 40 years, granddaughters Poppy and Sotiria Kotronakis, niece and nephew Polly (Noula) and Aris Kotronakis, brother Chris (Litsa) Perdicaris, sisters Kanella (Kay) Tsougrianis, Dina (Panayioti) Yannitsos, Anna (Robert) Gardikiotis, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and nephews.
Nick was born in Stolos (Fountoma), Kynourias, Greece in 1926 and immigrated to Canada in 1952, embarking on a new chapter in his life. Shortly thereafter, he attended Radio College in Montreal. Through sheer determination, perseverance and studying by candlelight, he managed to not only teach himself English but also completed the required 10 months to achieve his degree.
Upon his return to Regina, he started his highly successful television and radio repair business, Zenith Electric on Albert & 13th Avenue with longtime business partner Bill. It was also special to have his brother Chris work beside him for many years. After 40 years of quality service, he made the difficult decision to leave his passion and retire to spend time with his family and friends. Many times former customers would stop Nick on the street and tell him about the wonderful home service they had received.
Having retired, Nick kept busy by volunteering his time with St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Church, being a member of the Golden Mile coffee gang, and even teaching himself French. His home was his castle and he always tended to his garden and fixing what needed repair. Regina's Greek Community and St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Church were always in his heart.
Nick sponsored many relatives and friends to emigrate from Greece and settle in Regina. He was a tireless worker and supporter of St. Paul's in the beginning and for over 50 years. Current affairs and politics were his passion. You would always see him reading the newspaper, listening to the news on the radio and of course watching the news unfold on television. He was the wise owl, the human encyclopedia of our family, the one everyone would turn to for wisdom, knowledge and advice. He was the best husband, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and god-father anyone could ever ask for. Everyone would agree that Nick will always be remembered as an intelligent and respectful man. People were always fascinated and intrigued by his life experiences. Those memories and the image of his smile and excitement as he was telling those stories will forever be imprinted in the minds of everyone who had the honour to know him. His nieces and nephews will always cherish the memory of the rides to Lumsden in the white station wagon with the pushbutton transmission.
We would like to extend our deepest gratitude and thank you to Reverend Father Spyridon Vandoros for his continuous spiritual guidance and support; George and Sophia Yannitsos, whose assistance, strength, compassion and love gave us the comfort to endure through such a difficult time. If words could only express the love and thankfulness we have towards you and your family and to all our family and friends for their continuous prayers and concern. Special thanks are extended to Dr. Messer, Dr. Muftah, and to the nurses of Units 3B/3D at the Regina Pasqua Hospital.
A prayer service will be held on Monday, October 22, 2007 at 7:00pm. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at 2:00pm. Both services will be held at St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Church, 3000 Argyle Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Church.
Arrangements are entrusted to Regina Funeral Home
