SCHERRER, Mrs. Mildred Marie Johnson passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2007 at the age of 99 years.
She was predeceased by husband Art; daughter Lois Alford; son-in-law Archie Alford; brothers Harry, Merrill and Glen. Mildred’s memory will be cherished by her family; brother Arnold; granddaughter Carla (Ranie) Moldenhauer; great grandchildren Bryce and Dakota; as well as many family and friends.
Her infinite kindness and warm loving heart will be forever treasured.
A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at Regina Funeral Home, Hwy # 1 East, Regina, SK on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at 2:00 pm.

Reginald Wright
August 2, 1926 - October 17, 2007
WRIGHT, Reginald Ernest – passed away peacefully at Sunnyside Care Centre on Wednesday, October 17th, 2007 at the age of 81 years. Reg is survived by Effie, his loving wife of 58 years; children Pam (Dale Allen) Schone of Saskatoon and her son Keir, Keith Wright of Saskatoon and Perry (Sandra Findlay) Wright of Clavet and his children Jeremy (Tanya) Wright, Desiree (Ryan) Leonhardt, Jory (Ashley Weigel) Wright, Josh Wright, and Jesse Wright . Reg is survived by his brother Horner Wright of Maryfield, Sask. and numerous nieces and nephews. Reg was predeceased by his sister Bernice and brother Harold. Reg was born in Maryfield, Sask August 2, 1926 and served in the Royal Canadian Navy in WWII. Reg married Effie in 1949 in Regina where the children were born and the family later moved to Saskatoon. He was a respected supervisor with Sask Power and enjoyed 35 years of service with Sask Power. Reg spent many happy years in retirement which included owning and caring for race horses, extensive travel overseas, and celebrations at the family cabin. Dad was a devoted family man, which included all the animals. He was well-read and well-liked and always had a mischievous twinkle in his eye. Special thanks to the Dr. Stewart and the staff at Sunnyside and Riverside Terrace for their excellent care during Dad’s stay. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, October 22nd, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home (east on 8th Street, turn right before the railway crossing). Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens with lunch being served in the Arbor Room. Donations in Reginald’s memory may be made to the SPCA (P.O. Box 3050, Saskatoon, SK. S7K 3S9). Arrangements are entrusted to Dawn Engel, HILLCREST FUNERAL HOME.
Sydney Stubbington
April 1, 1923 - October 16, 2007
STUBBINGTON, Sydney William – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Syd Stubbington on Tuesday, October 16th, 2007 at the age of 84 at Kerrobert Union Hospital. Syd was predeceased by his cherished daughter Linda in 1959 and his loving wife Mary of 49 years. He will be greatly missed by his son Barry (Bernadette) and daughters Barbara (Vern) and Elaine (Terry); nine grandchildren Jesse, Stacey, Blake,Alicia, Brett, Jennifer, Candace, Karli and Warren as well as his four great grandchildren McKenna, Jacob, Chase and Olivia. Syd was born in Glaslyn, Saskatchewan, grew up on the family farm and at the age of 17 he ventured eastward to Ontario to work. A year later, he returned home to join the Army to serve his country. After his tour of duty, Syd attended Forestry School in Prince Albert to become a Conservation Officer. His career led him to many Saskatchewan towns – Big River, Love, Grassy Lake, White Fox, Strasbourg and Moosomin. One of his major accomplishments was surveying the Hanson Lake Road on foot from White Fox to Flin Flon, Manitoba in the winter of 1955. Besides his busy career, some of his most notable hobbies included operating a mink ranch, raising chinchillas, owning a gravel truck and logging truck, grain farming, operating a movie theatre and raising chickens. He obtained the position of Park Superintendent at Meadow Lake Provincial Park until his retirement in 1980. Sydney’s adventurous spirit led him on many special winter holidays in Arizona, Oregon and Texas. A summer retreat at Greig Lake provided a favorite family reunion destination. His passions included spending time with his family and friends, fishing, hunting, music, playing cards, barbequing and traveling. Syd’s friends and family will always remember him for his compassion and sense of humor. The Funeral Service will be held at Hillcrest Funeral Home (east on 8th Street, turn right before the railway crossing) on Saturday, October 20th, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. A private family interment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (438 – 2nd Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK. S7K 2C3). Arrangements are entrusted to Ken Scheirich, HILLCREST FUNERAL HOME.
Annie Hall-VanNes
January 26, 1913 - October 17, 2007
The death of Annie Margaret Hall-VanNes, nee Gordon, age 94 years, occurred peacefully at River Heights Lodge in North Battleford, October 17, 2007. A quiet gathering of remembrance and farewell was held on Saturday, October 20th, 2007 at Hillcrest Funeral Home, Saskatoon with interment in the family plot at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Anne was born in Walkerton, Ontario January 26, 1913 and moved with her family to Saskatoon at age 4. She was a graduate of Nutana Collegiate, Normal School and Saskatoon Business College, Saskatoon. Anne and her first husband, Jerry Hall, were long time residents on Clarence Avenue, Saskatoon, where they raised their two sons Gordon and Ralph. After Jerry's passing, Anne married her brother-in-law Ralph VanNes and together they lived in Saskatoon and White Rock, BC. Anne was predeceased by her husbands Jerry and Ralph, brother Charles Gordon, sisters Gertrude Gordon-Stonehouse, Agnes Jones and Ethel VanNes. She is survived by her two sons Dr. Gordon (Julie) Hall, Dryden Ontario, and Dr. Ralph (Barbara) Hall, North Battleford, step-son Ralph (Janet) VanNes Junior, White Rock BC, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren and sister-in-law Dina Brecknell, Saskatoon. Anne leaves her family a legacy of loving memories of a lifetime of kindness and support. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. J.C. Johnson and Dr. W.G.C. Lipsett for their professional care and understanding. We wish to offer our deepest gratitude to the wonderful staff at Battlefords River Heights Lodge for their dedication and kindness in making Anne’s last years so pleasurable.
