Sister Philomène Marie Daigle
September 27, 1917 - November 5, 2007
The Congregation Filles de la Providence (Daughters of Providence) and Sister Daigle’s family wish to announce the peaceful passing of Sister Daigle at the Victoria Hospital, Prince Albert, SK on November 5, 2007 at the age of 90 years. Philomène was born September 27, 1917 to Philippe and Elvina (née Croteau) in St. Louis, SK. She was gifted in many ways. One of the best was when it came to Art, Painting and Sewing. With these gifts and many others, Philomène served her Lord and community in different areas in Saskatchewan and Alberta. Community and time for the Lord were Philomène’s priority. When ready to retire Philomène chose a place where she would be assured that there was a chapel in the building. In 2000 she lived with some of the Daughters of Providence and Sisters of Sion at Acadia in Saskatoon. In 2005 she moved to St. Volodymyr Terrace in Saskatoon. As her health continued to fail, she asked to spend her last months at the Infirmary of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary in Prince Albert. Les Filles de la Providence wish to thank the Sisters and their Staff for all the good care given to Sister Philomène. Philomène is lovingly remembered by her 2 sisters Antoinette Bessette from Edmonton, Alberta and Cécile Verville from Victoriaville, Québec; her brother Armand from Calgary, Alberta; her 2 sisters-in-law Valerie and Betty Daigle and her brother-in-law Hervé Verville. She was predeceased by her parents Philippe and Elvina (Croteau); her 3 sisters Sister Anastasie Daigle, Marie de la Forest, and Thérèse Roux; her brothers-in-law Raymond Bessette, Raoul Roux and Paul de la Forest; as well as her numerous nieces and nephews.
