Kathleen “Kay” Clarke Ellis, passed away peacefully at Providence Place in Moose Jaw on January 15, 2002. Kay was born May 20, 1917 in the Scotia Hospital in Moose Jaw. She attended King George School and Central Collegiate. She later received her Associate Degree from the Toronto Conservatory of Music. She taught piano and organ to numerous students over the years. Kay was an active member of Zion United Church, a Past-President of the Canadian Club of Moose Jaw and the Music Teacher’s Association of Sask. She loved ceramics, swimming, and music. Kay and her late husband, Austin T.Ellis, traveled the world in their retirement years, but most loved their time at Buffalo Pound Lake. She is predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Austin in 1998; her youngest son, Ron in 1980; her parents, Harry and Jessie Clarke; and her brother, Mac Clarke. She is survived by daughters: Ruth Ellis – Regina; Margot (Dennis) Knight – Phoenix, Ariz.; and Lucille (Larry) Evans – Port Hawksbury, N.S.; sons: Ross (Pat) Ellis – Thompson, MB; and Jim (Betty) Ellis – Calgary, AB.; grandchildren: Jenny and Katherine Knight; Jocelyn, Jessica, Jillian and Luke Evans; Stephanie, Sara, Clarke, and Lisa Ellis; and great-granddaughter, Tiana Vassolo; and sister, Ruth Hamilton – Norco, LA. Kay was a gentle person and was greatly loved and will be missed by all. Following Cremation, a Service of Remembrance will be held at Zion United Church on Saturday January 19, 2002 at 1:30 pm. Dr. Bob Kimmerly will officiate, assisted by Linda Owens. Memorialization will take place at the family plot, Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Providence Place, 100 2nd Ave. N.E., Moose Jaw, S6H 1B8, would be appreciated. In living memory of Kay, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. METRO MARCYNIUK
Mr. Metro Marcyniuk of Moose Jaw and Marquis, Saskatchewan, passed away Friday April 5, 2002 at the age of 82 years. Born on October 21, 1919, Metro was predeceased by his wife Mildred in 1995, twin sister, Mary, sister, Ann and three brothers: Nick, Bill and Fred. He is survived by his children: Ken (Marilyn) of Marquis, Barbara Gregory of Moose Jaw, Betty (Scott) Dishington of Regina, Tim (Shelly) of Craven, Greg (Sheila) of Moose Jaw and Michael (Mercedes) of Ottawa; thirteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, companion, Anne Mankewich; five brothers: Steve, John, Mike, Peter and Paul as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 10, 2002 at 10:30 in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 1064 – 3rd Ave. N.W., Moose Jaw. Reverend Father David Cottingham C.Ss.R. will be the Mass Celebrant. Private family memorialization will take place at a later date in the Marquis Cemetery. A Prayer Service will be held in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Tuesday evening (April 9th) at 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials for the Alzheimer Association, #301 – 2550 – 12th Ave., Regina, Sask., S4P 3X1 would be appreciated. CHARLES (CHUCK) ELSOM
CHARLES EDWARD (CHUCK) ELSOM born June 28, 1934 in Moose Jaw, passed away peacefully on his farm home on Friday, June 14, 2002 at the age of 67 years. Charles attended Public School in Boharm and Technical High School in Moose Jaw. He married Elizabeth Ann Clark in 1960 and the couple farmed and raised cattle in the Boharm and Caron district until his death. Predeceased by his parents George and Mae Elsom and his brother John Elsom. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth, son Jeffrey (Sandra) and daughters: Susan (Lee) Van Buskirk and Mary Kathleen (Shawn) Schick; grandchildren: Rachel, Sarah, Isaac and Stephanie Elsom; Jessica and Shannon Van Buskirk, his brother George Elsom and an aunt, Mary McLaren (Elsom). Funeral Services will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church, 60 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw on Wednesday, June 19, 2002 at 1:30 p.m. Reverend Peter J. Calhoun will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Mr. Joseph Edgar Morhart of Moose Jaw, passed away suddenly in Regina on October 4, 2002 at the age of 60 years. He is survived by his three children: Carrie Morhart; Patricia (Darren) McKibben; and Joe (Raena) Morhart; grandchildren: Amanda, Devon, Kyle, and Eric – all of Moose Jaw; three brothers and one sister; and numerous relatives and friends. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St.Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 1064 Third Ave. N.W., Moose Jaw, Tuesday, October 8, 2002 at 10:00 am. Father Gerry Bauche will be Mass Celebrant. ANN STEWART
Mrs. Ann Stewart of Moose Jaw passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 6, 2002. Ann was born and raised in Leeds, Yorkshire, England. She was in the British Land Army during WWII. During this time she met Dave and on May 31, 1945 they were married. Ann arrived in Moose Jaw May 31, 1946. She worked at St.Anthony’s Home for a number of years and with Home Care for one year. Ann was a member of St.John’s A.C.W. and the Crafts group, the oil painting group at Timothy Eaton Gardens, and the Sask. War Brides Association. Predeceased by her husband, Dave; three brothers and one sister; six brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law. She is survived by her three children: Barbara (Doug) Huber; Jeanette Stewart; and Wayne Stewart; three grandchildren: David Huber, Debby Chalifour, and David Stewart; four great-grandchildren: Robert and Karlie Huber and Bradley and Kody Exner. Funeral Services will be held at St. John’s Anglican Church on Friday, October 11, 2002 at 2:00 pm. Reverend Derek Nicholls will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. ALLAN WAYNE KREUGER
Mr. Allan Wayne Kreuger, passed away September 25, 2002 at the age of 55 years. Wayne was born in Saskatoon on June 19, 1947. As his father was a CP Rail operator, Wayne lived in many small towns in Saskatchewan. He graduated in Neilberg and attended the University of Saskatchewan. Wayne began work with C.P Rail in Winnipeg in May 1972, retiring as an Engineer in Moose Jaw on May 1, 2002. He especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, loved to play bridge and golf, and plan his next holiday, especially Las Vegas. We will miss his jokes and laughter. Wayne lived his days to the fullest.
Wayne is survived by his mother, Ethel Nelson; his wife of 33 years, Bernie; children: Dan, Roberta, Warren, Michael, Tracey, Greg (Patty), Wendy, and Chris; grandchildren: Dakota, Gunnar, Dagan, Cameron, Kristyn, Charmaine, and Isabelle; also special friend and partner at the bridge table, Ida Bryant. Funeral Services will be held at the Alliance Church, corner of Thatcher and Ninth N.W., on Saturday, September 28, 2002 at 2:00 pm. Reverend Frank Mitchell will officiate. Memorialization will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Sask. Heart & Stroke Foundation, Box 521, Moose Jaw, S6H 4P2, would be appreciated. JOSEPH JOHNSON
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Joe Johnson, at the age of 98, on November 17, 2001. Joe was born in Gilcrux, Cumberland, England on September 1, 1903. Joe came to Moose Jaw with his family at the age of 10. He was the eldest of seven children. Joe was a long time resident of Moose Jaw. He lived in Montreal, Saskatoon, and Calgary for short periods of time. Over the years, Joe was active in Zion United Church. He was the Western Canada Traffic Manager for Robin Hood for 43 years until the mill closed. He was also a member of the Chamber of Commerce, and the 20th Armoured Band. Joe took an active part in this community. He is predeceased by his wife, Muriel in 1981; and his son, Larry in 1963. He was a wonderful father, brother, and grandfather and will be missed by his sister, Amy Lancaster; son, Dale (Bev) Johnson – Winnipeg; daughters: Pauline (Vern) Hobbs – Edmonton; Marlene (Orest) Porayko – Coquitlam, B.C.; Janet (Don) Shabbits – Sherwood Park; and sister-in-law, Gloria Erickson – Regina; thirteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, November 20, 2001 at 3:30 pm. Dr. Bob Kimmerly will officiate. Memorialization will take place at Rosedale Cemetery at a later time. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Zion United Church, 423 Main St. N. would be appreciated.
