HELEN DONISON

Helen Maxine Donison (nee Abdou), passed into the Lord’s keeping peacefully at home after a brief illness on Aug. 5, 2001, surrounded by her loving family. Helen entered the Air Force and was based in Winnipeg. Helen married Niculia Donison Aug. 8, 1944 and was subsequently honourably discharged from the Air Force. Helen and Nick spent their early marriage farming in southern Saskatchewan. Helen continued her nomadic journey, moving from Saskatoon...Orangeville... Calgary to finally settle in Edmonton until her passing. Helen’s open-hearted affection left a legacy of love to all who came into contact with her. Her non-judgemental attitude made her an exceptional advocate of the young people who came along her path. She had a deep abiding faith in their ultimate goodness and never gave up on anyone. Helen and her sister Amy walked together on a spiritual journey to find a deeper meaning in life which led to the Lord, and this faith was imparted to all their children. Helen’s quick and fertile mind found a passion for bridge, crosswords, cards, games and puzzles of all sorts. At the age of 10, Helen was doing the books for her father’s store, and continued in the accounting and auditing field until the Tuesday before meeting her Maker. Helen was predeceased by her father, Frank Abdou in 1952, her mother, Mary McQuakay (nee Gaddie) in 1981 and her loving husband Nick in 1988.
