ILENE GILLIS

Ilene May (Boyd) Gillis passed away on Monday October 22, 2001 at Moose Jaw Extendicare after a lengthy illness. She is survived by her husband Gordon; son Glen (Doreen); daughters; Susan Getzlaf, Colleen ( Les) Richardson and Marlene Gillis. Her six grandchildren, Chris and Ryan Getzlaf, Nicole and Ashley Gillis, Morgan and Logan Richardson and sister, Lorraine Orr and family, and her brother Howard Boyd and family. Cremation with a Service of Remembrance for her family by Della Ferguson, will be held at a later date. In living memory of Ilene, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

ROBERT "BOB" KRAUS

Mr. Robert William “Bob” Kraus aged eighty years of Moose Jaw, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 11, 2001. Robert farmed in Hodgeville and Tompkins from 1946 until 1972. During this period of time he moved to Moose Jaw in 1955. Robert taught carpentry at SIAST in Moose Jaw in 1961 and 1962. He was then employed with Crown Mart in Moose Jaw from 1962 until 1983. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed his trips with his close friends. Robert looked forward to his winter holidays in Arizona with his wife, Mary and he was always surrounded by his neighbors and friends. He will be forever remembered for his generosity and helpfulness to others. He is predeceased by his parents, Anton and Catherine; his sister, Ida; and his brother, Joseph. He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife, Mary of 55 years; Three daughters: Carol (Bob) Trumbley of Saskatoon; Maxine (Allan) MacLeod of Lloydminster; and Brenda (Randy) Lear of Regina; six grandchildren: Jana, Erin, Mark, Michael, Janelle, and Michelle. Also sisters: Elizabeth (Len) of Calgary; Helen (Ross) of Edmonton; Agnes of Moose Jaw; Irene (Bud) of Moose Jaw; Clara (Manny) of Estevan; Bernice of Mundare, Alta.; and Jean (Clarence) of Weyburn; Ann (Don) of Moose Jaw; sister-in-law, Bessie of Calgary and numerous other relatives. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church 1064 Third Avenue North West, Moose Jaw on Wednesday, May 16, 2001 at 1:30 pm. Reverend Father David Cottingham will be Mass Celebrant. Evening Prayers Services will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel on Tuesday at 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Sask. Heart and Stroke Foundation, Box 521, Moose Jaw, S6H 4P2, would be appreciated. In living memory of Robert, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley Parkland by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

Wally Rowan

On Friday, July 6, 2001 Wallace Earl Rowan passed away peacefully at home at the age of 81 years. Predeceased by his parents, Garnet and Agnes Rowan, and a brother and sister-in-law, Ted and Ruth Rowan. Wally is survived by his wife of 54 years, Emma; two daughters: Judith (Henry) Klassen and their children: Laura and Bradley of Calgary; and Karen (Brian) Williams and their sons: Devlin and Brendan of Regina. Wally served overseas in the Air Force during World War II, returning to Tuxford to farm. Later he worked for 11 years for Farm Credit Corporation in Estevan, resuming farming in 1967. He was a member of St. George Masonic Lodge, the Royal Arch Masons of Sask., Eastern Star, Shrine Club and the Royal Canadian Legion. After retiring from farming in 1985, Emma and Wally enjoyed traveling, seeing many parts of the world and making friends. Wally also spent many enjoyable hours with the Vintage Aircraft Restorers at the Western Development Museum. Following Cremation, Memorial Services will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel Tuesday, July 10, 2001 at 3:30 pm. Gary Johnson will officiate. Interment will take place at Sunset Cemetery Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials to the Shriners Children’s Hospital in care of the Moose Jaw Shrine Club, would be appreciated. In living memory of Wally, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley Parkland by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

DORIS HUDSON

DORIS ISOBEL HUDSON (nee Simpson), passed away peacefully on July 31, 2001 at the age of 83 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Alex and Maude Simpson, her son, William (Bill) and her two sisters, Jean and Alice. Doris will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her family, her sons, Gerry (Judy), Jim (Velma); daughter, Linda, daughter-in-law, Glenda Loustel and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her interests included gardening, walking and music. For many years, she loved to play the organ, piano and clarinet. Because of her strong sense of community involvement, Doris contributed her talents to such organizations as the Sprigs of Heather Girl’s Pipe Band, Grace Unit Church and later Cosmos Seniors choirs, the Cosmos Senior Citizen’s Centre and the Heritage Place executive. A Memorial Tea honoring Doris ’ life will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mark’s Presbyterian Church, 80 High St. E., Moose Jaw. In living memory of Doris, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley Parkland by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

GLADYS McLEAN

GLADYS FLORENCE McLEAN went to sleep peacefully at Regency Manor in Central Butte, Saskatchewan on Friday, February 23, 2001. Gladys was the eldest of 10 children born to Louie and Lettie (Ableman) Olson on April 9, 1913 at Shooter Hill, Saskatchewan. She is survived by her loving husband, Glen Allen McLean of 32 years, three daughters, Jean Stoney of Surrey, B.C., Roberta Zanatta of New Westminster, B.C. and Patsy Olson of Medicine Hat, Alta., one son, Bobby Hamilton of Courtenay, B.C.; sisters, Agnes Anderson of Kamloops, B.C., Alice (Ed) Murray of Brooks, Alta., Edna (Ab) Sommerville of Dunmore, Alta., and Ada (Murray) McKay of Riverhurst, Sask.; brothers, Orville (Alice) Olson of Vernon, B.C., Alfred (Pat) Olson of Medicine Hat, Alta., several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Gladys was predeceased by her parents, Louie and Lettie Olson, sisters, Alma and Clara and brother, Lloyd, her first husband, Robert Hamilton and son-in-law, Gordon Stoney. Gladys and Glen farmed for several years just south of Gilroy. Gladys played the piano and with their many good friends and family members and had some wonderful times. They also enjoyed traveling in their camper to Alberta and B.C., visiting family and friends. Gladys enjoyed life. Her love for music, her sense of humor and her laughter will remain in our hearts as will memories of a very “Special Lady”. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. in the Riverhurst Community Hall with Pastor Martin Christensen officiating. As an expression of sympathy, for those wishing, contributions may be made to the Regency Manor, Central Butte, Sask., S0H 0T0 in Gladys’ memory.

ART RESVICK

Arthur E.S. Resvick, long time resident of Aneroid, peacefully passed away with his family by his side on November 22, 2002, after a courageous battle with cancer. Art was born at Wiwa Hills, Sask. on his family farm on July 22, 1917. He married Phyllis Wells November 29, 1941. He served our country from 1943–45. Art was a grain buyer for the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool for 37 years. He began farming near Aneroid, Sask. in 1952, entering the cattle industry in 1991. Art was an avid member of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation. He received the President’s Appreciation Award in 1982, and the Gordon Lund Memorial Award in 1984 for outstanding conservationalist. Art was also a long time member of the Masonic Lodge, Elks, Legion, Lions, and a leader of the Aneroid 4H Beef Club. He is predeceased by his daughter, Sandra Switzer; his parents, Nels and Anna; brothers, Elmo, Ralph, and Harold; and sisters, Lil and Caroline. Art is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Phyllis; son, Garry (Brenda); daughter, Sharon (Lawrence) Herperger; son-in-law, Bob (Gail) Switzer; grandchildren: Shane (Tara) Resvick; Heidi (Armand) Lasante; Tim and Kurtis Herperger; Beau, Kyle, Jane, and Bailee Switzer; great-grandchildren: Ashley Corcoran, Alex and Hunter Resvick; brothers, Gordon (Bertha); George, Bill (Anne); sister, Gen; sisters-in-law, Kay Resvick, Hazel Watson, and Alma L’Heureux; brother-in-law, Adrian Paton; and numerous nieces and nephews. Grandpa’s greatest love was people. He thrived in the company of his family and friends. His happiest times were giving tours of his farm, spending time at the dam and enjoying nature. A Celebration of Art’s Life will be held at the Aneroid Centennial Hall on Tuesday, November 26, 2002 at 2:30 pm. Linda Stumpf will officiate. Interment will take place at the Aneroid Hillside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Aneroid Centennial Hall would be appreciated by the family. In living memory of Art, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley, Moose Jaw by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

ANDY HAGERTY

GEORGE ANDREW “ANDY” HAGERTY, formerly of the Stony Beach district, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 12, 2002, at Providence Place, Moose Jaw. Andy was born April 6, 1911. He attended school, married Isabel Baldock in October 1938, raised two children and farmed at Stony Beach on the land his Dad homesteaded and where his son, Larry now farms. He always enjoyed farming, community activities and the company of his friends. Following the passing of his first wife, Andy later married Mary Heron and enjoyed her family and the many new friends she introduced into his life. Predeceased by his first wife, Isabel Baldock - 1981, second wife, Mary Heron - 1998, sister, Eva Spenst, and brother, Tom Hagerty. Andy is lovingly remembered by his family, Linda (Orest) Senkiw, Larry (Fay) Hagerty, Bill Heron, Donna (Pog) Ofstedahl, Bonnie (Garry) McMorris, Jim (Luci) Heron, Bev (Bob) Johnstone, Barry (Jo) Heron, Marilee (Clint) Sanborn, Mabel (Eddie) Hickerson, one brother, Stanley; grandchildren: Michelle, Steven, Leanne (Kyle), Scott, Curtis, Bernadette, Jaime, Andrea, Kent (Kue-Lynn), Trevor, Ryan, Brendon, Leighton, Nathan, Tyrone, Brie, Cody, Dustin, Colter, Brandee, Trenna, Madison, Dave (Alyson), Ken (Bree), Bruce (Laura); great-grandchildren: Kyril, Katelynn, Emighyn; Sam, Abigail, and Avery, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Andy will be sadly missed by his friends, family and Providence Place Caregivers – all of whom enjoyed his company and sense of humor. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2002 at 1:30 p.m. at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Reverend Don Bater will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Memorials for the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, 150 Albert Street, Regina, Saskatchewan, S4R 2N2 would be appreciated. In living memory of Andy, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
