LILA GRANT

LILA LOUISE GRANT (NEE JONES) of Saskatoon and formerly of Moose Jaw, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 28, 2001 at the Lutheran Sunset Home in Saskatoon at the age of 86 years. Lila was born in Moose Jaw, December 21, 1914 and attended King George Public School and Moose Jaw Technical High School. She married Gordon Grant in 1937 and was a stay at home Mom who enjoyed family and friends. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and Army, Navy & Airforce Veterans Auxiliaries and enjoyed the bowling and dart leagues she belonged to for many years. She was predeceased by her husband, Gordon in 1983, her parents, Mabel and W. J. Jones, her brothers, Wilbur and Irwin Jones and two nieces, Terry Lee Simle and Jeanette Macza. Lila is survived by three daughters and their families, Bernice (Richard) Gleim of Chaplin, Geraldine (Uwe) Schuett of Clavet and Shirley (Ray) Hankey of Saskatoon; grandchildren: Greg (Rhonda) Gleim, Audra (Kevin) Hallborg, Nancy Gleim, Deana Schuett (Bob Bodnaruk), Sharon, Beth and Christine Hankey; two great-grandchildren, Bo and Ashley Hallborg; three nieces, one nephews and several great-nieces and nephews. A Private Family Service of Remembrance will be held. Della Ferguson will officiate. Memorialization will take place in the Prairie Memorial Columbarium. A memorial tea and gathering to remember Lila will be held on Monday, December 3, 2001 from 2:30 – 4p.m. at the W. J. Jones & Son Family Centre, 262 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Donations in Lila’s memory would be gratefully accepted and may be made to the Special Care Unit c/o Lutheran Sunset Home, 1212 Osler Street, Saskatoon, Sask., S7N 0T9. A special ‘Thank You’ to all the staff of the Special Care Unit at the Lutheran Sunset Home, Dr. Enweani and Betty Sanderlak. In living memory of Lila, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

MAURIE ROSS

Mr. Maurie Ross of Kingston, Ontario, and formerly of Moose Jaw, passed away November 12, 2001 at the age of 85 years. Maurie was born on August 28, 1916 in Moose Jaw. He grew up on the farm in the Tuxford area. Maurie helped his father on the farm and attended Bloefield School. He then went on to build the family farm, becoming a University of Saskatchewan select seed grower, a realtor, and a business man in Moose Jaw. In 1998 Maurie moved to Kingston to be near his daughter, Linda. Maurie was known for his sense of humour, keen wit, and friends of all ages. He enjoyed pool and cards (poker) but was happiest when chatting with friends. He favourite “haunt” in Moose Jaw was Timothy Eaton’s Centre. He loved TV, especially the Discovery and History Channel as well as CBC Radio. He was also a life-time member of the Elks. Maurie is predeceased by his wife, Dora in 1973; and his siblings, JD, Kathleen, and Mary. He is survived by two daughters: Maureen McCartney (Bill Edwards) – Thompson, Man. and Linda Ross (Doug Girvin) Kingston, Ont.; five grandchildren: Susan (Randy); Dorie (Bill); Todd (Teri); Tana; and Taylor (Jacelyn); seven great-grandchildren: Merrick, Alyssa, Jordyn, Connor, Tanner, Mikaela, and Quinn. He also had special friends, Mickey – who was his “ Moose Jaw daughter”, and Lorne; nephew, Ramsay Ross and family still reside in Moose Jaw. A private service will be held. We invite Maurie’s friends to join us for a “Tribute to Maurie” at Timothy Eaton Centre on Saturday, November 17, 2001, at 2:30 pm. In living memory of Maurie, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

GENIE McCORD

Eugenie Elizabeth McCord passed away peacefully on Monday, November 5, 2001 at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital surrounded by her entire family. Genie was a leap year baby, born February 29, 1916 in Eyebrow, Saskatchewan. She married Thomas Austin McCord, November 20, 1940 and together they raised four sons and two daughters. She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends at the Cosmo Centre and going to swim at the Y. Genie attended church regularly at St. George’s Anglican Church and was a member of the Lady’s Auxiliary for many years. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Thomas A. McCord, parents, Arthur and Adelaide Porter, sister, Evangeline Lineger and brothers: Bill Porter and Reg Porter. Genie is survived by her brother: Art Porter, two daughters: Carol (Sergio) Gerolami of Moose Jaw, Janine (Grant) Leggett of Regina and four sons: Dave (Marg) of Moose Jaw, Rus (Joanne) of Innisfail, Alta., Arch (Kathy) of Prior Lake, Minnesota, Thomas (Patty) of Lumsden, sixteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The Funeral Service will be held at St. George’s Anglican Church, 965 Montgomery St. W., Moose Jaw on Friday, November 9, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday evening 7-9 p.m. at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home, 106 Athabasca St. E. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St, George’s Anglican Church, 965 Montgomery St. W., Moose Jaw, Sask., S6H 2W7 would be appreciated. In living memory of Genie, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

TRISTIN NICOLE NEWSHAM
(October 25th, 1989 ~ January 16th, 2002)

Tristin was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on October 25th, 1989. She resided in Mortlach with her loving family, Brian, Lori, Trevor & Tyler. Tristin will be remembered for her beautiful smile and her amazing attitude. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and spent many special times with her cousins, Jade and Jennifer. After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Tristin passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her grandmother, Beatrice Herbert. Tristin is survived by her parents, Brian, Lori; two brothers, Trevor and Tyler; her grandparents, Lionel Herbert of Moose Jaw and Robert (Roberta) Newsham of Mortlach as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Following cremation, a service to remember the life of Tristin Nicole Newsham will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2002 at 1:30 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Della Ferguson will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Tristin may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 1011 University Drive, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, S7N 0K4. In living memory of Tristin, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

ELVA H. McKENZIE

ELVA HAZEL McKENZIE (nee: Dalgliesh), of Pioneer Lodge, Moose Jaw, formerly of Tuxford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 21, 2002 at the age of 87 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Phillip, parents, John and Margaret Dalgliesh, two brothers and two sisters. Elva is survived by her children: Gary of Weyburn, Margaret (Alvin) Loff of Dalmeny, Sk., Shirley (Gary) Kerr and Alvin (Sherry) McKenzie of Moose Jaw, sister, Eileen Carrick of Moose Jaw; grandchildren: Annette Loff, Shawn (Lisa) Kerr, Sheri Grant, Corey (Brenda) Kerr, Kinda Kerr, Curtis McKenzie & Kayla McKenzie; great-grandchildren: Tyler, Montana & Liam, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, August 26, 2002 at 1:30 p.m. at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Reverend John Carley will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Pioneer Lodge, 1000 Albert St. , Moose Jaw, Sk., S6H 2Y2 would be appreciated. In living memory of Elva, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

MARGARET WILD

MARGARET ELSIE WILD, born October 7th, 1917 in Middlesbrough, England, passed away in Moose Jaw August 12th, 2002. She leaves to mourn her husband of sixty-three years, George, her daughter, Joyce (Parial) Razvi of Moose Jaw, her son, Michael (Jean) Wild of Regina; her beloved grandchildren: Hassan (Marilena) Razvi of London, Ont., Sheena (Barry) Nabholz in Costa Rica, Shameem (Duane) Arndt of Moose Jaw and David Wild of Regina; five great-grandchildren: Scott, Erica & Gillian Johnston in Costa Rica; Kyle & Olivia Arndt in Moose Jaw; her sister, Joyce Jones & family in Australia, brother-in-law, Alan Wild & family in England as well as numerous nieces and nephews in England. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 16, 2002 at 1:30 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Reverend John Carley will officiate. Memorialization will take place at a later date. Memorials may be forwarded to a charity of one’s choice. In living memory of Margaret, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
