DIANA LYNNE MEILI (nee WELLS) of Moose Jaw, passed away Friday, March 22, 2002, following a brief battle with cancer at the age of 53 years. Born in Moose Jaw in 1948, Diana received her education here and later took a barber course in Regina. Initially she worked in Yorkton, later at Valley View Centre as well as the barber shop in the Connaught Building. More recently Diana was employed at the Temple Gardens Mineral Spa as a Room Attendant. Diana married Larry Meili November 4, 1978 and together they had four children. Her hobbies included horse back riding, fishing, cooking, bingo, swimming and playing cards, especially with her good friend, Judy. Diana’s family was her pride and joy and always looked forward to having get-togethers at the house. Her kindness, understanding and patients will forever be remembered by her family and friends. Diana will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband, Larry, five children: Wayne (Renne) of Weyburn, Dean (Joy) of Yorkton, twins, Tracey (Jay), Terry of Moose Jaw; and Dustin (Nicole) grandchildren: Kianna, Skylar, Maddison, Jaylyn, Kirsten, Jeffery, Donivon, Russell and Hayley; brothers: Norman (Brenda), Frankie (Shelda) and Ronnie Wells – all of Moose Jaw; sisters: Jackie Duckworth (Mike) of Moose Jaw, Noreen Wells of Moose Jaw and Patty (Ken) Schoffer of Calgary. Following cremation, A Service of Remembrance will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2002 at 1:30 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel. Pastor John McCubbing will officiate. Memorialization will take place at the Prairie Memorial Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, memorials for the Canadian Cancer Society, 223 Fairford St. E., Moose Jaw, S6H 0E1 would be appreciated. ESTHER BENRUD
Benrud: Mrs. Esther L. Benrud (From) of Moose Jaw and formerly of Outlook, Saskatchewan passed away on Friday February 2, 2001 at the age of 92 years. Predeceased by her first husband, Joseph From, a son Leslie From, her second husband, Elmer Benrud, a son in law, Elmer Dell, two brothers and three sisters. Esther is survived by three sons: Lenard ( Millie) From - Caronport, John ( Rose Lee) From- Red Deer and David ( Ginny) From – Mesa, Arizona; two daughters, Joyce Dell – Wynyard and Mary ( Jerry) Stroup – Colfax, Washington, a daughter in law: Donna Mae From - Edmonton; step daughter: Eunice Grunerud, twenty-six grandchildren and sixty-five great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephew. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday February 6, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E. Moose Jaw. Mr. Larry Ballantyne will officiate. Interment will take place on Wednesday February 7, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. at the Hillcrest Cemetery at Anerley, SK. Visitation for family and friends will be Monday evening from 7-9 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Gideon Memorial Bibles.
DOROTHY MOORE
In loving memory of Dorothy Moore who passed away on November 24, 2002 at Extendicare, where she had resided for just 2 months. Dorothy was 93. She is predeceased by her husband, Bill in 1983 and her sisters, Gladys, Ida, Blanch, and Mildred. Dorothy is survived by her nieces, Shirley Pollock and Irene Pye, both of Ontario. In keeping with Dorothy’s wish, there will be no services. Interment of cremated remains will take place privately at Rosedale Cemetery. OLIVE RICE
Mrs. Olive Rice of Moose Jaw, passed away February 26, 2002 at the age of 84 years. Olive was born in Gravelbourg and grew up in the Spring Valley district, attending Currie School. She married Loy Rice in 1943 and the couple farmed in the Mitchellton district until moving to Moose Jaw in 1999. Olive enjoyed being around people, she loved and cherished her grandchildren immensely. Predeceased by her parents; brother, Bill Paton; sister, Irene Gomersall, and son, Bob Rice. She is survived by her husband, Loy; daughter, Jean (Don) Sullivan – Calgary; Wayne (Marg) Rice – Saskatoon; daughter-in-law, Marcia – Spring Valley; grandchildren: Loy and Sonia Sullivan; Andrea and Amy Rice; Amanda, Milton and Nick Rice. A Memorial Service will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel, Friday, March 1, 2002 at 11:00 am. Reverend John Carley will officiate. Private family memorialization will take place at a later date. ALLAN McLEES
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Allan McLees, on November 15, 2001. Allan was born May 23, 1915 in the Moose Jaw district. Allan was involved with the RM of Moose Jaw as a Councilor from 1961 to 1968 and Reeve from 1969 to 1978. He also served as a Director of the Mortlach Management Board. Allan enjoyed many happy winters in Texas and had many good friends there. Predeceased by his parents; and a sister, Hazel. He is survived by his loving wife, Maybelle; two sisters: Mildred Norman – Surrey, B.C.; and Gladys Norman Moose Jaw; one niece, Lynn (David) Woodgate – Duncan, B.C.; three nephews: Ken (Doreen) Norman – Moose Jaw; Ron ( Sandy ) Norman – Surrey, B.C.; and Graham ( Sharon ) Norman – Okotoks, Alta. Funeral Services will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, Tuesday, November 20, 2001 at 1:30 pm. Reverend Andrew Song will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. CHARLIE BRUCE
Charles Ward Bruce of Tugaske passed away at the age of 83 years, in University Hospital in Saskatoon on Friday, February 22, 2002, with all of his family at his side. Charlie was born in Tugaske on June 24, 1918. He served during WWII for 4½ years where he was a POW for 9 months. Upon his return to Tugaske, he actively farmed until retirement. He was very involved in community life and founded the first 4-H Woodworking Club in Canada for which he was inducted into the 4-H Hall of Fame. Charlie spent endless hours in his shop doing what he enjoyed most. He loved family camping, golf tours, dancing, and playing cards. Charlie and Marge enjoyed 25 winters in sunny Arizona. He will ever be remembered for his sense of humour which was kept until the end and his love of family. Charlie is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 43 years, Marjorie; sons: Monty (Brenda); and Gary (Sheri); grandchildren: Todd (Brandie) and Tisha (Troy); great-grandchildren: Madison and Braydon; sister, Margaret; special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Helen and Mac; and numerous relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents and one brother. Following Cremation, a Service of Remembrance will be held at the Tugaske Community Centre on Tuesday, February 26, 2002 at 2:00 pm. Pastor Rick McCorrister will officiate. Royal Canadian Legion Funeral Rites will be conducted by the Central Butte Branch. Memorialization will take place at the Tugaske Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Canadian Cancer Society, 223 Fairford St. E., Moose Jaw, S6H 0E1, would be appreciated.
