ROSE KAIN

ROSE HANNAH KAIN (BATEMAN), of Providence Place, Moose Jaw, passed away on Wednesday, February 14th, 2001 at the age of 100 years. Born in Birmingham, England October 2nd, 1900, Rose came to Canada in 1905 to Souris Manitoba then moved to Moose Jaw in 1917. She married Bruce Bateman in 1921 and the couple lived in the Leamington District until Bruce’s passing in 1945. Rose married Dan Kain in 1955 then moved to Neepawa, Manitoba and lived there until 1993. She returned to Moose Jaw in 1993 and resided at Ina Grafton, Pioneer Village and Providence Place. Rose celebrated her 100th birthday on October 2nd, 2000. On October 11th, she broke her leg and slowly lost her strength and energy. Wherever she lived she found a way to become involved in the churches and communities. In her teens she taught Sunday School in St. Barnabas Anglican Church to such notables as the famous Wells Broadcasters. On the farm in the Leamington district, she prepared youth for boys and girls camp during exhibition days – later known as 4H. She was also involved in Women’s Institute. In Neepawa, she was active as leader of a church group of ladies. When the Senior’s Citizen Complex “Kin Kourt” was built, she was on the planning and purchasing committee. When she moved into Kin Kourt, she served as supervisor of her floor. When she moved to Moose Jaw in 1993, she retired from all community work. Much loved and respected, she has survived her parents and six siblings. Rose will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her son, Don (Myrtle) Bateman; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren: Allen (Patti) Bateman of Regina, Steven of Calgary, step-grandchildren: Terry (Brenda), Brittney and Dayton of Calgary, Tawnya (Roger) Walker of Prince George, Dennis (Mae) Bateman of Sundre, Alberta, Cameron of Victoria, B.C., Cheryl (Thomas) Ironsides, Heather and Colton of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta and Susan (Terry) Hunchuk, Kailena and Mitchell Bay of Moose Jaw. We wish to thank all those who gave Rose quality life while living at Pioneer Village, Ina Grafton Gage Home and Providence Place. Special thanks to Kailena for the many visits when great-grandma needed a cheering up and special caring. Funeral Services will be held at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw on Saturday, February 17th, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. Ron Hegdahl will officiate and interment will follow at the Rosedale Cemetery.
