Mrs. Eileen Yamniuk passed away Saturday, July 27, 2002 at the age of 83 years. Born at Stelcam in 1918, Eileen has been a resident of Moose Jaw all her life. Many years ago she worked as caretaker for the Drinkwater School. She has also been employed at Canaday’s Apparel Ltd. and her later working years were at St. Anthony’s Home as a nursing aide. Eileen especially loved her grandchildren and taking care of her home. Predeceased by her parents, two brothers and one sister. She is survived by her husband, John; four sons: Mervin (Linda) – Calgary; Alvin (Arlene) – Moose Jaw; Brian (Pauline) – Moose Jaw; and Michael – Regina; two daughters: Darlene LeBrique – Fort McMurray, AB; Gloria (Ken) Dean – Moose Jaw; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; two sisters: Reta Berger – Central Butte; Helen Street – Saskatoon; two brothers: Claude (Edna) Miller – Moose Jaw; Clifford (Sheila) Miller – Moose Jaw; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, July 31, 2002 at 1:30 pm. Reverend Father Leonard Romanow will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Memorials to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Box 1061, Moose Jaw, S6H 4P8, would be appreciated. In living memory of Eileen, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

MARGARET (GOERTZEN) GAMMEL, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away at the Herbert Nursing Home on Sunday, January 14, 2001 at the age of 93 years, 6 months and 14 days. Margaret was predeceased by her parents, Abraham and Anna Goertzen; six sisters: Annie, Tina, Mary, Lena, Agnes and Eva; six brothers: Abe, Jake, Pete, Bill, John and David, son-in-law, Roy Hodges, daughter-in-law, Agnes Gammel and a great-grandchild, Reshella Hodges. She leaves to mourn her passing two sons: John (Shirley) Gammel of Liberty, Jack (Myrtle) Gammel of Calgary; two daughters: Anne (Lou) Trudel of Moose Jaw and Ruth Hodges of Morse; twelve grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren who will miss her dearly; her two sisters: Elizabeth of Calgary and Susan of Washington, one brother, Dave (Helen) of Winnipeg; three sisters-in-law: Sadie Goertzen of Beechy, Agnes Goertzen of Three Hills and May Goertzen of Calgary as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Her love for her family was her deepest concern. The Funeral Service was held on Thursday, January 18, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. in the Morse United Church. Pastor Ken Epp officiated. Margaret was laid to rest at Morse Cemetery. Friends wanting to make donations may do so to the Morse United Church or the Herbert Nursing Home.
KYRA KITCHEN
Kyra Paige Kitchen, age 7 months, beloved daughter of Kelly Kitchen, passed away suddenly in Moose Jaw on November 18, 2002. Kyra is survived by her mother, Kelly; brother, Chad; father, Tony Kitchen; grandparents, Robert and Signe Raymond; and grandma, Trish Kitchen; uncle, Rory (Kelly) Raymond and their children, Andrew, Hannah, Raine, and Travis; aunt, Jaime (Brett) Fairbairn and their daughter, Montana; uncle, Wes Kitchen; great-grandma and grandpa Raymond; and great-grandma, Turner. A Celebration of Kyra’s life will be held at the Aneroid United Church, Aneroid, Sask. on Friday November 22, 2002 at 2:00 pm. Reverend Linda Stumpf will officiate. Interment will take place in the Aneroid Cemetery. Memorials to the Aneriod United Church, or the Aneroid Cemetery Fund, Aneroid, Sask. S0N 0C0, would be appreciated by the family. WELLINGTON EDWARD FERGUSON of Moose Jaw, passed away quietly on Wednesday, June 27, 2001 He was born in Peterborough, Ontario August 28, 1916 and served with the CAF from 1943 to 1946. As many people did in those early years, Wellington led a colorful life and with a diversity of employment, worked hard to provide for his family. He was a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Predeceased by his first wife, Jean, second wife, Florence and two sons: Donald and Richard. Wellington will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Michael and Kerri Ferguson of Edmonton, Alberta, Susan and Doug MacLean of Black Creek, B.C., daughter-in-law, Penny Ferguson of Moose Jaw, great-grandchildren: Tara and Samantha Ferguson, Julia MacLean and numerous relations in Ontario. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 3, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Reverend Ian Payne will officiate. Royal Canadian Legion Funeral Rites will be conducted by D.M. Smoky Hoover of Moose Jaw Branch #59. Interment will follow in the Veterans Section, Rosedale Cemetery. MILDRED HICKS
MILDRED ELIZABETH HICKS of Marquis, passed away at Providence Place on Thursday, April 19th, 2001 at the age of 79 years. Born January 21st, 1922 at Dunnville, Ontario, she attended public and high school in Simcoe, Ontario and received her nursing training at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario. Mildred met Cy while he was convalescing from World War II injuries in hospital in Hamilton. The couple were married April 14th, 1945 in Simcoe, Ontario. Mildred and Cy took up residence in the Marquis district and farmed there until her passing. Mildred participated in the Marquis Community in various ways – served on the Marquis Community Club, curled in the local Bonspiels and was involved with the Marquis United Church. She enjoyed camping and fishing with her family, gardening and flowers, knitting, crocheting, reading and crossword puzzles kept her busy in her later years. Mildred’s special love of cats continued until her passing. During her stay at providence Place, she received excellent care from all the staff. Many of the staff were able to cheer her up and make her life more comfortable while at Providence Place. Predeceased by her parents, Clifford and Clover Hurst; brothers, Roy and Ross Hurst; and sons, Alan and Ross. Mildred is survived by husband, Cyril Hicks, son, David (Dorothy) Hicks, daughter, Lynne (Art) Dunbar; grandchildren: Derek (Tanis), Greg (Denean), Jason (Christy), special cousin, Pat Mayers of Burlington, Ontario, Blair, Tara (Greg), Jeff (Lynne) and great-granddaughter, Rachel. The Funeral Service will be held at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw on Tuesday, April 24th, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. Della Ferguson will officiate. Interment will follow in the Family Plot at Sunset Cemetery. JACK BATTY
MR. JACK E. BATTY of Moose Jaw, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2002 at the age of 91 years. Born in Owen Sound, Ontario, Jack came to Saskatchewan as an infant with his parents to the Limerick district. He bought grain for many years for the Patterson Grain Company. Jack married Adella Mae Coleman in 1940 and in July 1947, purchased his own grocery store in Moose Jaw known as Batty’s Fine Foods, corner of Hall & Third N.E. Jack was involved with many community activities but will be remembered for his work with the Masons and Shriners. Friends are invited to join the family in sharing the memory of Jack’s life on Saturday, April 27, 2002 1:30 pm – 3pm in the W. J. Jones & Son Family Centre, 262 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Cremation has taken place and memorialization will follow in the family plot, Assiniboia at a later date. In living memory of Jack, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J.
