HAROLD (DUTCH) SORSDAHL

Harold “Dutch” Sorsdahl, age 93 passed away peacefully at Providence Place, on Sunday, November 3, 2002. Born in Macoun, Sask. he worked and farmed in various communities in Southern, Saskatchewan until retiring to Moose Jaw. Predeceased by his parents, three brothers and four sisters, he is survived by Leona, his wife of 66 years, brother Les; sisters: Gladys Milligan and Dorothy Sanders; daughter, Sharon (Lyle) Greiner; sons: Lyle (Hellen), Neil (Leslie), Rodger (Shirley) and Russell, twelve grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at Central Lutheran Church, 27 Hochelaga St. W. on Friday, November 8, 2002 at 2:00 PM. Pastor Doug Shepherd will officiate. Cremation, with memorialization at Prairie Memorial Columbarium. Memorials to Providence Place Foundation 100-Second Ave. NE or Central Lutheran Church, would be appreciated. In living memory of Dutch, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

MARGARET BREHM

Mrs. Margaret Juliana Brehm passed away at Regency Manor, Central Butte on Friday March 30th, 2001 at the age of 90 years. Born at Central Butte in 1911, Margaret later married Frank James Brehm and the couple farmed in the Rouleau district until 1957 when they then moved to Wadena. Margaret moved to Central Butte in 1992 to reside at Regency Manor. Predeceased by her parents Joseph and Katherine Berger, her husband Frank in 1986 and a son Albert; two sisters, Barbara Baldwin and Helen Morrissey and a brother Frank, she is survived by three sons, James (Constance) – Regina, Dennis (Sharon) – Ottawa and Ronald (Sharon) – Winnipeg, one daughter Helen (Donald) Steele – Charlottetown, her brothers and sisters, Joseph, Katie Coutts, Paul (Lucille), and George, all of Central Butte, Albert (Sheila) – Moose Jaw, Mary Campbell – Central Butte, Eva Cantrell - Denver, and Anna (John) Nickel – Moose Jaw as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A Prayer Services will be held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Central Butte Tuesday evening (April 3rd) at 7:30pm. with Reverend Sister Theresa Frey presiding. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Church on Wednesday April 4th, 2001 at 10:00am. Reverend Father Steve Ripplinger will be the Mass Celebrant. Interment will be made at the family plot in the Wadena Cemetery with Reverend Father Dennis Phaneuf officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined, memorials for a charity of choice would be appreciated. In living memory of Margaret Juliana Brehm, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley Parkland, Moose Jaw by Prairie Memorial Funeral Home, Chaplin/Herbert.

WILLIAM (BILL) GEORGE HAMILTON

Bill was born in Moose Jaw, May 23, 1922 and died February 19, 2002 at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital. Bill served with RCAF during WWII for five years as radar technician in Canadian Eastern Air Command and in Britain. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion since 1954. Bill’s civilian surveying career with the PFRA spanned thirty-seven years. He served in the communities of Shaunavon, Gravelbourg, Swift Current and Moose Jaw PFRA Depot Water Department, retiring in 1981. Predeceased by his father and mother, “Tony” and Jamima Hamilton; brothers: Roy and Bob and first wife, Jackie. Bill is survived by wife, Eileen; sons: Donald (Lise) Hamilton and James D. Hamilton; daughter, Jan Kilkenny (Jim), daughter-in-law, Denise Hamilton; step-sons: Donald (Rita) Cushing, Robert Cushing; sisters: Lois Smith, Margaret (Frank) Weekes; brothers: James M. Hamilton (Marjorie); C.S. “Lad” Hamilton; ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In keeping with Bill’s request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Bill was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend and neighbour. In living memory of Bill, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

ISABEL P. GUNN

Isabel Phyllis Gunn of Moose Jaw, passed away peacefully at Providence Place on August 21, 2002 at the age of 80 years. Isabel was born in Weyburn on August 26, 1921. She has resided in Moose Jaw since 1945. Isabel worked at Valley View Centre for 19 years. Predeceased by her husband, George W. Gunn and son-in-law, Murray J. Lozinski, she is survived by her daughter, Sharen Lozinski; son, Allen (Doreen) Gunn; brother, Sid (Willie) Wilson; grandchildren: Jim Gunn, Paul Lozinski, Tracey Lynch, and their spouses; great-grandchildren: Jessica and Ashley Gunn; sisters-in-law, Ellen Miller and Marj Gunn; as well as her nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral Services will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Friday, August 30, 2002 at 1:30 pm. Pastor Doug Shepherd will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Canadian Cancer Society, 223 Fairford St. E., Moose Jaw, S6H 0E1, would be appreciated. The Family would like to thank the Doctors, Sisters and staff at Providence Place for their compassionate care and understanding. In living memory of Isabel, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

JOCK PIRRIE

MR. JOHN R. (JOCK) PIRRIE of Capilano Court, Moose Jaw, passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2001 at the age of 95 years. Born September 27, 1905 in Scotland, Jock was predeceased by his wife, Jean. In keeping with Jock’s request, following cremation, memorialization will take place in Rosedale Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice. In living memory of Jock, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

IONA CARAGATA

On Sunday, April 15th, 2001, IONA (TONITA) CARAGATA, age 72, passed away at the Pasqua Hospital, Regina after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Iona was born in Wood Mountain, Saskatchewan on November 26th, 1928. She married Nick Caragata October 8th, 1949. Following their marriage they farmed at Wood Mountain, moving to Moose Jaw in 1973. Iona worked for the Moose Jaw Co-op, retiring in 1993. Iona enjoyed playing cards, dancing and spending time with family and friends. Predeceased by her husband, Nick, her parents, Bill and Lena Tonita; brothers: Dan and George; niece, Leila and nephew, Jack. Iona is survived by children: Maxine (Ross) of Moose Jaw, Marlow (Joanne) of Saskatoon, Les (Bernie) of Regina; six grandchildren: Craig (Kelly) and Clayton (Denise) Hartman; Niki and Logan Caragata; Chelse and Tyler Caragata and two great-grandchildren: Shaye and Brooke Hartman; two sisters: Dora Hordenchuck and Marie (Lee) Soparlo; one brother, Steve (Peggy) Tonita; sisters-in-law: Lorette Cantelon, Diane Tonita, Helen (Dan) Bachiu, brothers-in-law: George and John Caragata as well as numerous nieces, nephews and close friends. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 18th, 2001 at 3:30 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Ron and Lorna Silvester will conduct the service. A visitation and prayer service for family and friends will be held Tuesday, April 17th, 2001 at 7:30 p.m. at the Funeral Chapel. Memorials for the Regina Palliative Care Inc., 4101 Dewdney Ave., Regina, Sask., S4T 1A5 would be gratefully accepted. In living memory of Iona Caragata, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley Parkland by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
