Mr. Joseph Popil, age 84, of Mont St. Joseph Nursing Home passed away at the Victoria Hospital on Sunday, March 16, 2008. Prayer service will be held at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19 from River Park Memorial Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 20 from St. George Ukrainian Catholic Church, 752 – 14 Street West by The Reverend Father Ivan Nahachewsky. Grandpa Joe is survived by his loving family: his children Mike (Brenda) Popil of Prince Albert and their children Dean (Tara) and Madelyn Popil of White City, Brady Popil of Minton, SK and fiancée Paige Lowe of Weyburn, Regan Popil of Prince Albert; Paul (Teri) Popil of Prince Albert and their children Kelly (Rob) Caruk of Saskatoon, Blair (fiancée Macine Chubak) Popil of Edmonton; Eunice (Dave) Kozinko of Prince Albert and their children Tanya (Jason) Kuntz and their children Brandon, Rocky and Cody of Wilkie, Walter Chester of Red Deer, AB; Cecil (Kathy) Popil of Prince Albert and their daughter Sara Popil of Lethbridge, AB; Helen Jackson of Prince Albert and her children Katrina, Samantha, Jacob, Jackson of Regina; his brothers Peter and Helen Popil of Calgary, Frank and Ann Popil of Kamloops, BC; his sister-in-law Gloria Popil of Edmonton, AB; the mother of his children Tillie Popil of Prince Albert as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by: his parents Mike and Paraci “Pearl” Popil; his sisters Mary (Joe) Rudniski, Elsie (Felix) Zurakowski, Lily (Ignas) Rudniski, Anne Biabiak, Francis (Dan) Karpanchuk, Kay Kaczmerek, May (John) Sacdia and his brother Stanley Popil. Mrs. Lorna May SHIPLEY
December 6, 1945 - March 10, 2008
Lorna May SHIPLEY (Williams), passed away after a year long courageous battle with cancer at the age of 62.
Lorna was predeceased by her father Gordon Williams.
She will be lovingly missed by her daughter Sue (Darcy) McKeown and her son Thomas Shipley. She proudly held the status of Nana to her grandchildren Kaitlynn, A.J. and Liam McKeown and Nikolas and Robyn Shipley. She will also be missed by her mother Mary Williams (Relf); sister and best friend Pat Miller and brother Larry Williams of Regina. She will also be missed by her nephews Dan (Lisa Driver) Miller and Andrew (Marsha Joyea) Hoodle, as well as her special friends Joanne Manz and Corey and Dallas McFadden also numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Lorna worked for the Regina Health District for over 25 years. She made many friends and touched numerous lives through her caring and giving nature.
A MEMORIAL SERVICE was held on Friday, March 14, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 550 Sangster Blvd. in Regina, SK.

Mr. Samuel "Sam" Denis Posten
July 24, 1914 - March 12, 2008
On Wednesday, March 12, 2008, Sam Posten passed away in the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre, Veterans’ Unit at the age of 93 years.
Sam is survived by his wife Mary; sister Marion Shaw; children Denis (Cheryl) and Kathleen; grandchildren Amanda and Mark; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Dumitru (Dan) and Florea; brothers George, John and Nick; sister Helen Staseson, Anne Witherspoon and Mary Halbwachs.
Sam lived his full life in Regina with the exception of the Second World War during which he served his country as a member of the Corps of Canadian Fire Fighters throughout the Battle of Britain. Upon his discharge in 1945 he returned to Regina. Sam was known to many from his days as proprietor of the “Lindsay Lucky Dollar Store,” from his years as a member of the custodial staff at the University of Regina and for his proud years of service with The Canadian Corps of Commissionaires for which he primarily worked at the National Defence Regina Armoury and Queen Building. The family thanks the personnel at the Wascana for the tender care received these past years.
A CELEBRATION OF SAM’S LIFE will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel at the Wascana Hospital, 2180 23rd Avenue, Regina, SK S4S 0A5. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sam’s memory to the Veterans' Unit 3-6 Wascana Rehab or to a charity of your choice.

Eden Lea and Avery Lynn were born and went to be with the angels on March 14, 2008.
Left to cherish their memories are their parents Douglas and Tara; sister Hannah; grandparents Les and Lea Ann Stevenson and Doug and Sandra Smith; Uncle Brady and Aunty Kayla; as well as many extended family.

Mr. Raymond "Bob" Schwab
September 25, 1951 - February 29, 2008
It is with hearts filled with deep love and great sorrow, that we announce the passing of Bob Schwab, beloved husband and sweetheart of Karen. Bob passed away on February 29, 2008 at the age of 56 years, after a brief , yet incredibly courageous battle with lung and bone cancer. Along with his wife, Bob’s memory and legacy will be carried on by his son Travis, daughter Amanda and son-in-law Craig. He will be missed by Yoggie, his treasured pet. Bob was born in Saskatoon, SK on September 25, 1951 and was raised in Biggar, SK, until his family moved to Calgary in 1963. It is in Calgary that he met his wife Karen, raised and cared for his family. He has been welcomed into eternal life by his loving family, Regina and Joseph, Victoria and Wally, Johnny, Dennis, Phillip and Helen. Bob will be especially remembered by: Ray and Barb, Hilda, Lorraine and Dale, Rose and Al, Tony, Ferlin and Karen, Ed and Pauline, Kathleen and Darryl, Alicia and Ben, Doug and Susan, Len and Sheila, Al and Raebelle; he is survived by countless loved ones and friends who supported him throughout his journey. In addition to being a devoted husband and father, Bob will be remembered as being a kind, sincere, generous and candid person, who never ceased to help a friend, nor crack a joke or two. Bob, an avid car lover, was a member of the Alberta Pioneer Auto Club, enjoyed attending DQ and A&W nights, car shows and auctions with his wife and was partial to his Saskatchewan roots and the Roughriders! The family of Bob Schwab would like to extend heartfelt appreciation and thanks to the doctors, nurses and volunteers of Tom Baker Care Centre, Unit 47 and the Peter Lougheed Centre for their fine work and many hours of commitment and support. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church (640 - 19 Avenue NW) on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. with interment to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre (1331 - 29 Street NW, Calgary, AB, T2N 4N2).

SANDERS, Alvina Eva
Alvina Eva Sanders, Born April 13, 1923 in Saskatchewan, Died February 25, 2008.
She is survived by beloved son, Al (Lynn Teadale) LaRose and their children: Stephen (Darla), Stacy (Andrew), Melissa (Ashley); and 20 great grandchildren. "Mama" is also survived by Tonya, Willie, and Donald Chalifoux, whom she also raised. Out of 12 brothers and sisters, she is survived by one brother, Frank (Bernice) LaRose. She will be sadly missed but not forgotten by numerous family members and friends. Alvina was predeceased by her husband, Myron Sanders (2001) and son, Ronnie LaRose (2000).
A Celebration of Alvina's Life will be held on Monday, March 3, 2008 at 2:00 pm at Evergreen Funeral Chapel (16204 Fort Road, Edmonton).

June 2, 1958 - March 10, 2010
It is with great sadness that the family announces Tim’s sudden passing in Regina, SK.
Tim is lovingly remembered by his wife Carol; son Ryan; daughters Erin and Ashton (friend Cory); mother Ruby; brother Terry (Sharon) Batters; sisters Deb (Brian) Corscadden, Diane (Niven) Bachert, Donna Rennie, and Sheila (Chris) Heath; sisters-in-law Mary Ann Steele and Shirley Dovell; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by his father Bruce Batters; brother Jimmy; brothers-in-law Trevor Rennie and Neil Dovell; mother-in-law and father-in-law Dave and Kay Steele.
Tim was a devoted and loving husband, father and friend. He loved life and especially fishing trips and snowboarding with his kids. He was a best friend to many and was loved by all who knew him. Tim will be deeply missed.
A PUBLIC VIEWING will be held at Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East, Regina, SK on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Mrs. Matilda (Tillie) Theresa Switzer
May 15, 1921 - February 28, 2008
Tillie Switzer (Matilda Theresa) passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2008 at the age of 86 years.
She was predeceased by her husband Earl; parents George and Theresa Weisgerberger; siblings Joe, George, Aloise, Frank, Agnes, Caroline, Rose, Mary and Eva and son-in-law Ray MacKenzie.
Left to honor her memory are her sister Loretta Spies; children Lawrence (Julie), Allan (Wilma), Linda (Don) Kirby, Donna, Joan MacKenzie, Barry and Karen (Dale) Swift; 22 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Tillie was born near Fife Lake, SK. After her marriage to Earl they remained in the community until they sold the farm and moved to Assiniboia. She and Earl retired to Pilot Butte. After Earl's death she moved to the Northgate area of Regina. After experiencing poor health Tillie made a final move to Coronach.
A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East, Regina, SK on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Andrew Pawlowicz officiating. A PRIVATE Family Interment will take place.
