OLLY AYERST

MRS. OLLY AYERST of Moose Jaw, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, April 16, 2002. Predeceased by a sister in infancy, Jean, father, George in 1965, mother, Marie in 1986, sister, Iris, husband, Orval in 1998and her daughter-in-law, Viviane Ayerst in 1999. She is survived by her sons: George Ayerst of Brandon and Walter (Cheryl) Ayerst of Moose Jaw, step-son, Mel (Laurel) Ayerst of Regina; grandchildren: Lana Ayerst (special friend, Brian VanJoff ) of Moose Jaw, Jason Ayerst of Moose Jaw, Jeremy Ayerst of Brandon, John (Stacey) Ayerst of Edmonton, Leanne Duncan of Regina and six great-grandchildren. Sisters: Helen Blinn and June Williams of Calgary, Myrtle (Luigi) Mazzon of Vancouver, Violet Parsley of Saskatoon, Audrey Kolcher of Regina, Sally Monroe of Regina, Pat Kuntz of Regina, Leona (Terry) Ingle of Vancouver; brothers: George (Leona) Unique of Regina, Adam (Henrietta) of McLean and Larry Unique of Regina as well as several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, April 19, 2002 at 7 PM in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Laurel Ayerst will officiate. Private family memorialization will take place at the Prairie Memorial Columbarium. Memorials for the Saskatchewan Heart & Stroke Foundation, Box 521, Moose Jaw, Sask., S6H 4P2 would be appreciated. In living memory of Olly, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

OLIVE FERGUSON

OLIVE ROSENA FERGUSON (nee Erickson) was born on June 25, 1923 at St. Boswell, Saskatchewan and as a young child grew up in Kelstern where she received her education. At age 18 she went to work at Readlyn, Crane Valley and Ardill, Saskatchewan. She met Melvin Ferguson in Mitchellton and the couple were married on July 14, 1942.. Olive and Melvin had two sons, Ross Lloyd and Douglas Eric. They farmed at Mitchellton until retiring to Moose Jaw in 1978. Olive enjoyed watching rodeos, ball games and loved watching curling on T.V. Predeceased by her loving husband, Melvin Ferguson and son, Ross Lloyd, parents, Lillian May and Clarence Erickson; sisters: Alta May Harris, Edith (Bob) McDonald; brothers: Arthur Erickson, Lloyd (May) Erickson, Clarence Erickson; brothers-in-law: Wayne Reiman and Ken Greensides and sister-in-law Ina Erickson. Olive is survived by her son, Douglas Ferguson and grandchildren: Crystal (Travis) Ogle, Trevor Ferguson, Pamela (Dean) Kuntz, Melvin Ferguson and Charmaine (Jim); great-grandchildren: Hewston, Colten, Chyanne and Wyatt Ogle and Hali Kuntz; sisters: Hazel Greensides, Joyce Reiman, Lorraine (Everett) Ball and brothers: Fred (Blanche) Erickson, Alvin Erickson and sister-in-law, Dora Erickson as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 4, 2002 at 1:30 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Reverend Bill Thompson will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. Memorials for the Saskatchewan Heart & Stroke Foundation, Box 521, Moose Jaw, Sask., S6H 4P2 would be appreciated. In living memory of Olive, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

LEO LEIMAN

MR. LEO LEIMAN of the Ernfold district, passed away at his farm home on Friday, August 24, 2001 at the age of 78 years. Funeral Services will be held at the Zion Lutheran Church, Flowing Well, Saskatchewan on Saturday, September 1, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Marilyn Stobbs will officiate. Interment will follow at the Flowing Well Church Yard Cemetery. Memorials to the charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family. In living memory of Leo, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by Prairie Memorial Funeral Home.

MARGARET MARSHALL

MARGARET W. MARSHALL of Moose Jaw, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 29th, 2001 at the age of 91 years. Predeceased by her loving husband James – 1980, parents, Josephine and William Adam and a brother, Bill Adam. Margaret is survived by her two sons, Bill (Joyce) and Keith (Brenda) of Surrey, B.C., one sister, Nancy (Leo) Heisler, two sons, Gary and Rod and sister-in-law, Marg Adam; six grandchildren: Terri (Brian), Shelley (Mike), Lori (Kevin), Kelly (Mike), Cathy and Brent; seven great-grandchildren: Davin (Leanne), Ashley, Michael, Brett, Cal, Tyler and Jillianne; two step-grandchildren, Warren (Susie) and Heather (Todd), and five step-great-grandchildren: Clarissa, Justin, Spencer, Colton and Chloe as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Margaret was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be missed by all. Following cremation, memorialization will take place at a later date. For friends so wishing, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 1061, Moose Jaw, Sask., S6H 4P8.

DONALD MARVIN ROLFE
(March 23, 1931 – September 2, 2002)

Don passed away peacefully Monday, September 2, 2002 at home with his family by his side. Don took his training as a watchmaker with J. Alex McKenzie Jewellers in Regina, a trade he kept up and loved to the end. He spent two years in Korea with the CAF, PPCLI regiment. Upon his return Don rejoined McKenzie Jewellers and in 1958 purchased Prentice Jewellers which he operated until 1989. He then opened Don’s Watch and Jewellery Repair which he dearly enjoyed until his passing. Don was a member of the Moose Jaw Lions Club and the Early Bird Lions for forty-eight years. He was awarded the Judge Brian Stevenson medal for his outstanding contribution to Lionism. In April 1957, Don joined the Masonic Orders, Memorial Lodge #172 and was active in several other lodges until his passing. Don was also a member of Wa Wa Shrine Club since 1969. Don was predeceased by his father and mother, John and Marguerite Rolfe of Regina. He will be dearly missed by his wife of forty-eight years, Shirley, daughter, Cindy (Tony) of Edmonton, son, Grant Bjerke (Joan) of Calgary, granddaughter, Angela (Jason) Baldwin and great-granddaughter, Emily of Calgary, granddaughter, Kristina Bjerke (Gary) and great-granddaughter, Kathleen of Calgary. Also left to mourn his passing, two sisters: Darlene (Leonard) Linder, and Florence Hawthorne; three brothers: Wesley (Rose) Rolfe, Harry Rolfe and Lin (Marie) Rolfe as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 6, 2002 at 1:30 p.m. at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Reverend John Carley will officiate. Private family memorialization will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined, if anyone so wishes memorials may be left to the Moose Jaw Union Hospital, 455 Fairford St. E., Moose Jaw, Sask., S6H 1H3 or to the Children’s Heart Society Teen Camp Fund, Box 52088 Garneau Post Office, Edmonton, Alberta, T6G 2T5. In living memory of Don, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

MARJORIE POWELL

MRS. MARJORIE POWELL of Moose Jaw, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2002. Born in Ontario in 1923, Marjorie came west in 1927 and settled west of Moose Jaw. She married Lorne in 1944 and they farmed in the Caron District, later retiring to Moose Jaw. Marjorie was active in the church and all community functions. Her busy hands created many works of art and she touched the lives of all and will be missed by all who knew her. She received great joy from her husband, children, grandchildren and held a special place in her heart for them and they for her. Predeceased by her father, Hugh Simpson, mother, Violet (Vi), brother, Jim Simpson and grandson, Bruce Powell. Marjorie is survived by her husband, Lorne Powell of Moose Jaw, son, Ed (Sherry) Powell of Southey; grandchildren: Shay, Rafer and Travis Powell; Todd, Ryan and Rochelle Zeller; daughter, Linda Cavan (Doug Cameron) of Mortlach; grandchildren: Damon and Mansil; sister, Evelyn (Neil) Whitmore and sister-in-law, Helen Simpson of Moose Jaw; sisters and brothers-in-law as well as nieces and nephews. Following cremation, A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 17, 2002 at 1:30 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Tim Ellis will officiate. Memorialization will follow at Sunset Cemetery. Memorials for the Foundation for Moose Jaw Union Hospital, 455 Fairford St. E., Moose Jaw, Sask., S6H 1H3 would be appreciated. In living memory of Marjorie, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

THELMA KENNEDY

Thelma May Kennedy passed away peacefully on May 23, 2002 at Extendicare where she was a resident. Thelma was born on a farm at Drinkwater, Sask. June 12, 1916. She is predeceased by her parents; her first husband, Don McLean; her second husband, Neil Kennedy; son, Hugh McLean; three brothers: Gordon, Roy and Ray Knight; and one sister, Gladys Fessler. She will be remembered by her sons: Ken, Jim, Mel, Rod, and daughter, Carol Fenner; one brother, Harold Knight; two sisters: Zena Paquin and Inez Cumberland; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mom spent most of her life in Moose Jaw. She worked at Extendicare for a number of years. She enjoyed dancing and loved music, spending a lot of time dancing at Pioneers Lodge and Extendicare. Funeral Services will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel, Monday, May 27, 2002 at 10:30 am. Della Ferguson will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. Memorials to the Alzheimer Association, #301 – 2550 12th Ave. Regina, S4P 3X1, or Extendicare Family Support Group, 1151 Coteau St. W., S6H 5G5, would be appreciated. In living memory of Thelma, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
