Lillian “Mazel” Foulston of Tugaske passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 6, 2001 at the age of 87. Mazel will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 62 years, Roy; daughter, Marilyn (Hans) Wiebe – Saskatoon; sons: Murray (Margaret); Dennis (Carol) – Tugaske; Terry (Judy) – Lacombe, Alta.; twelve grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; sister, Lida Rouse – Hamilton, Ont.; brothers: Keith (Ada) Best – Kelowna, B.C.; Clarence (Eileen) -Armstrong, B.C.; sisters-in-law: Sheila Foulston – Central Butte; Pearl Fetroe – Walla Walla, Wash.; brother and sister-in-law: Ivan and Florence Foulston; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mazel is predeceased by two sisters and two brothers. Funeral Services will be held at the Tugaske Community Centre on Monday, June 11, 2001 at 2:00 pm. with Pastor Mervin Kempert officiating. JANE (JENNY) BREMNER
Jane (Jenny) Caroline Bremner, passed away on Thursday November 7, 2002 at the age of 83 years. Jenny was born in Moose Jaw, November 14, 1918, the youngest child of Alice and Charles Belsey. After completing her education at William Grayson Public School and A.E.Peacock High School, she commenced work at the Seed Pool in the employ of the Saskatchewan Department of Agriculture and later the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool. She retired in 1983. Jenny is predeceased by her husband, Jock in 1996; her parents, Alice and Charles Belsey; brother, Harry Belsey; sisters, Alice (Bill) Lonergan and Jessie Kell; and brother-in-law, Harry Blackman. She leaves to mourn and is sadly missed by her brother, Ted (Rita) Belsey; sister, Maggie Blackman; brothers-in-law, George Kell and Jim Bremner; sisters-in-law, Edna Belsey, Effie (Allan) Finer, Ruth Winchel, and Kay Rochon; her many nieces and nephews and her dear friend, Marg McMurray. In keeping with Jenny’s request, there will be no service. A private interment of cremated remains will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of choice. In living memory of Jenny, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
ALLAN POWELL
ALLAN EDWARD POWELL born December 23, 1921 on the family farm, north of Caron, died Tuesday, May 21, 2002 in the Moose Jaw Union Hospital. He looked after the family farm with his mother until 1948 when he took over the farm. In 1965 he bought the Luker farm and actively farmed until 1979 when he moved to Moose Jaw. In his younger days he enjoyed playing ball and curling. He was especially proud of his dairy herd for which he won numerous awards. After moving to Moose Jaw he enjoyed selling machinery for John Deere and later cars for Western Dodge. He was an active church member at Knox, Grayburn and later Minto United Church. Predeceased by his father, Harry, mother, Lida, father and mother-in-law, Frank and Lena Luker; brothers-in-law, Ernie Johnston and Earl Luker; and a sister-in-law, Marj Powell. Allan will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 53 years, Della; daughter, Janet (Serle) Hanson, grandchildren: Garth, Troy and Leanne, son, Ken (Patti); grandchildren: Allan (Teneille) and Kevin; brother, Lorne Powell; sisters: Dorothy (Charles) Roberts and Betty Johnston; sister-in-law, Mabel Luker; nieces and nephews; and special friends, Connie and Larry Fehr and family. A Celebration of Allan’s Life will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2002 at 2:30 p.m. at Minto United Church, 1036-Seventh Ave. N.W., Moose Jaw. Reverend John Carley will officiate. Memorialization will take place at Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Minto Memorial Building Fund or to a charity of one’s choice. FLORENCE MUHLE
MRS. FLORENCE MUHLE (nee GUY) of Regency Manor, Central Butte, passed away on Monday, February 26th, 2001 at the age of 93 years. Born June 10th, 1907 on Scilly Isles, England, Florence came to Canada to Caron, Saskatchewan in 1930. She married Herman Muhle in 1932 and the couple farmed at Parkbeg, Saskatchewan until 1959 when they retired to Moose Jaw. Florence and Herman moved to Mortlach in the mid 1960’s. Florence moved to the Regency Manor in Central Butte on December 5, 1997. Predeceased by her husband, Herman in 1980, one granddaughter, Shannon, all of her sisters and brothers and a daughter-in-law, Carol. Florence is survived by two sons: Ernest (Sharon) of Parkbeg and their family: Martin, Susan (Norm) and Stephen (Kerry), Allan (Lorna); and Ben – near Edmonton and his daughter, Shelly (Graham) as well as seven great-grandchildren. Florence enjoyed dancing, the piano and knitting. The Funeral Service will be held at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw on Friday, March 2nd, 2001 at 3:30 p.m. Reverend Frank Mitchell will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. SAM SPIKULA
Samuel Spikula, age 92, of Moose Jaw, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2002. Sam was born on July 29, 1909 in Kopyczynce, Ukraine, the fifth child in a family of nine. He immigrated to Canada when he was 18 years old. During his first year in Canada he was able to obtain part time employment with the CPR. As time went on, he was able to secure a full time job. In 1974 he retired with 40 years service with the Railway. Sam was a gentle, patient, soft-spoken man. He enjoyed gardening and loved to play cards. He loved music and filled the home with Ukrainian folk songs. He had a quick mind for numbers and an incredible memory for details. Sam is predeceased by his first wife, Anne (nee Lupescu) and his second wife, Anna (nee Chuprun), an infant son, Darrell; step-son, Harold Chuprun; sisters: Maria, Anna, and Helen; brothers: Theodore, Michael and Paul; and brother-in-law, John Kauffman. Sam is survived by his daughter, Delores Del Spikula-Schwab (Don Schwab) and grandson, Brett Moose Jaw; stepson, Russ (Lynn) Chuprun and their son, Peter Drumheller, AB; stepdaughter-in-law, Jean Chuprun (Bill Dutka) and children, Linda (Rob) Rogala; Karen (Aram) Babaian; grandchildren: Amanda, Josh, Raffi, and Annie Winnipeg, Man.; sisters: Edona Schpurarski; and Pauline Oper; and numerous nieces and nephews in the Ukraine. Also brothers-in-law, Bill and Jack (Joyce) Lupescu; Alex (Marie) Blake; and Harry Kauffman; sisters-in-law, Marg (Jerry) Rolph; Anne Mandzuk; and Dot Wetaski. The Funeral Service will be held at the Ukrainian Catholic Church, 621 Fifth Ave. S.W., Moose Jaw, Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at 3:00 pm., with Father Leonard Romanow presiding. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Thank you to the staff of Providence Place and Chez Nous who provided care for the past 2 ˝ years. HENRY KAMPEN
With great sadness, we announce the passing of HENRY EDWARD KAMPEN, age 69 of Moose Jaw. Henry fought a long and courageous battle with cancer and passed away with friends at his side at Pioneer Lodge. Born in Tugaske on March 13, 1932, Henry grew up on the family farm where he remained until his retirement. Farming was his first love along with restoring antique cars and tractors. He donated his restored 1926 Ford Model “T” Roadster to the Western Development Museum in Moose Jaw. Henry spent several of his last years volunteering as a gardener at the Sukanen Ship Museum. Henry was a kind and generous man and took great pleasure in obtaining artifacts and collectables for the Sukanen Museum. The pantry, in the house at the museum, was restored by Henry so that future generations will have the opportunity to see how our ancestors lived. He was predeceased by his mother, Barbara and father, Jacob Sr. He will be sadly missed by his brothers, Jacob of Moose Jaw, Abe of Victoria, B.C. and also his devoted pet toy poodle “Chelsea”. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, February 1, 2002, 7-9 p.m. at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. A Graveside Service will take place Saturday, February 2, 2002 at the Tugaske Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Helen Reid will officiate. Memorials to the Canadian Cancer Society, 223 Fairford St. E., Moose Jaw, Sask., S6H 0E1 would be appreciated. In living memory of Henry, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J.
