February 15, 1916 – June 25, 2009
Frank was born on a farm south of Gull Lake. He raised a family in Moose Jaw where he was a letter carrier for twenty-one years before retiring to Saskatoon. Frank loved old time fiddle music, enjoyed leather working, wood working and was quick with a smile for everyone he met. He is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Anna, brothers Erwin, James, Carl, Ralph and Alphonse; and sisters Josephine and Rose. Frank is survived by his wife Georgia, son Robert, daughter Marianne (Chris Weber), granddaughter Julianne Weber, and sister Pat (Don Bester). The Service of Remembrance will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Monday June 29, 2009 at 2:00 pm. Reverend Father Carlos Jimenez will officiate. Memorialization will take place at Saskatoon Memorial Gardens at a later date. In living memory of Frank, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
PATRICIA ROTHBRUST
Patricia Rothbrust, passed away on April 2, 2010. Patricia Anna Rothbrust was born on January 7, 1964 with the most incredible blue eyes! They were her shining light all her life. In 1968 the family moved from Moose Jaw to California on a new adventure. Patricia met and married James Donnell and they were blessed with two beautiful children. Justin-Peter and Petra . Patricia spoke fluent German and was an incredible artist. She loved animals, gardening, interior design and flower arranging. Patricia had the kindest heart and she could never give enough to her family and friends. It was too soon for her to leave us! She will be greatly missed by her children: Justin and Petra Donnell of Moose Jaw; sister Doris (Nelson) Markham and their daughter Jennifer; and her beloved partner David Miller. Patricia is predeceased by her parents Manfred and Anita Rothbrust. The Memorial Service will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Thursday April 8, 2010 at 10:00 am. Reverend David Moore will officiate. Memorialization will take place in California at a later date. In living memory of Patricia, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
MARIE CALLAHAN
Marie Callahan passed away peacefully May 14, 2010 in Edmonton AB, at the age of 93 years. She was born in Moose Jaw, SK. September 13, 1916. Marie grew up in SK. where she met and married her husband Gordon. Both were veterans of WW2; Gordon served overseas and Marie was stationed in Eastern Canada . After the war, they worked alongside each other, first in northern SK., then at the SK. Training School (Valleyview Centre) in Moose Jaw . After raising their family, they retired and ran a successful greenhouse business from their home. When Gordon passed away in 1991, Marie moved to Edmonton AB. She is remembered as having a smile and kind word for everyone she met. We will remember her as a lady who loved adventure, loved to laugh, and valued family above all else. Marie is pre-deceased by her husband of 50 years Gordon; her father and mother Patrick and Evelina McFadden; and three sisters Lillian, Marjorie, and Jane. She is survived by her three children, Ted (Wyndy), Vicki ( Vernon ), and Donna (Marno); three grandchildren, Andrew, Lindsey, and Danny; and one great-grandson, Dreyas. She will be greatly missed, and held in our hearts forever. A Memorial Service was held for Marie earlier in Edmonton . A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Rosedale Cemetery, adjacent to Gordon’s grave. For those wishing to attend, please meet at the Cemetery gates ( Caribou Street ) at 1:45 pm. In living memory of Marie, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
DON TOMLIN
Beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend, DON GEORGE TOMLIN of Moose Jaw, passed away August 2, 2003. Born April 23, 1935 in Toronto, Ontario, Don spent twenty-five years as an accountant in the Canadian Air Force, retiring in April 1980. His gentle and sensitive nature was evident and always maintained a positive outlook on life. He was multi-talented – never afraid to try his hand at anything. He was also hard-working, loyal, and was always willing to give his time and energy to help others. Don was very sports-minded – loved to play golf, bowl, curl, and dance and his hobbies included carpentry, gardening and oil painting (landscapes, mountains and seascapes). Don’s true passion was for his family and home and will be forever remembered and loved. Predeceased by his parents, Henry and Reta and daughter, Holly Tomlin, Don is survived by his wife, Deanie of Moose Jaw, daughter, Heather Tomlin of Regina, son, Jeff (Violet) of Saskatoon, daughter, Shannon of Saskatoon, brother, Ray (Jenny) of Scarborough, Ont.; two sisters: Carol (Ted) Dart of St. Catharines, Ont. and Barb (George) Leslie of Rexdale, Ont. as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 8, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, Moose Jaw. Padre Richard Larsen will officiate. Private family memorialization will take place at a later date. In living memory of Don, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
VIOLA CORDICK
Viola J. Cordick of Moose Jaw, passed away at home on September 6, 2003, with her husband and daughter by her side. Viola was born on March 13, 1944 at Mission, BC. She attended school in Kamloops and was runner-up for Miss BC at the age of 19. Her daughter was born in Kamloops in 1969 and she moved to Moose Jaw in 1975. Viola married Stan Cordick in Moose Jaw on May 19, 1984. She is survived by her loving husband, Stan; daughter Kelly Hunt - Kamloops two grandchildren, Amanda and Detton; mother, Pat; four brothers, seven sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Following Cremation, Memorialization will take place in Mission, BC at a later date. Memorials to the Canadian Cancer Society, 223 Fairford St. E., Moose Jaw, S6H 0E2, would be appreciated. LORNE NELSON
In loving memory of Lorne Allan Nelson, Moose Jaw, who passed away June 11, 2009 at age 58. Lorne was born in Assiniboia, SK. on January 16, 1951. He is predeceased by his father Ernest, and two brothers Donald and Albin. Lorne is survived by his mother Roselda; four children: Wayne, Jody, Kim, and Rebecca; very special friend Heather; siblings Dorothy (Richard), Robert (Loretta), Jo Anne, Elaine (Mel); six grandchildren; several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews. A Private Graveside Service was held at Sunset Cemetery. Memorials to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St. W., Moose Jaw, S6H 2M2, would be appreciated. Harley Dyck
Mr. Harley Dyck of Central Butte passed away on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at the age of 73 years. A memorial service will be held in British Columbia at a later date. In living memory of Harley, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
Mary Viola Aikins
Mrs. Mary Viola Aikens of Moose Jaw passed away on March 12, 2010 at the age of eight-nine years. Born October 1, 1920 at Mawer Saskatchewan the fourth child of a family of seven. Mary attended school in Mawer and in 1939 the Normal School in Moose Jaw. As a teacher she taught school near Tugaske and also in Darmody. On June 20, 1943 she married Clifford Aikens. The couple resided in communities throughout Canada and in 1972 they moved to make their home in Moose Jaw. Predeceased by her parents, four sisters, one brother and a daughter Aletha. Mary is survived by her loving husband Cliff; daughter, Glenda Hyndman; son; Don (Taleathahh) and three grandchildren: Chris Hyndman, Pierre Raby, Stephanie Ball and a Great Grandson: Levi, also her sister Aletha Davis. In keeping with Mary’s wishes a private family service will take place at a later date. Cremation with memorialization will take place at the Central Butte cemetery.
