Margaret Ellen Heilman (nee McDonald), passed away on March 7, 2009 in Moose Jaw. She was born in Moose Jaw and until recently lived in her original home. She attended William Grayson School, and after graduating from Central Collegiate took a business course and worked as a bookkeeper for Security Lumber for several years. After marriage to Vince in 1945, she was a stay at home devoted wife and mother. Predeceased by her parents, Jim and May McDonald, a newborn son, Wayne, and devoted husband, Vince, November 9, 2000. She is survived by her children Barbara (Hugh) Johnson – Calgary, Lynn (Sam) Der – Moose Jaw, Jim – California, Jack (Sue) Moose Jaw, Kathleen (Bruce) Cherewyk – Calgary, and Karen Kennedy – Moose Jaw; fifteen grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces. Margaret belonged to the Mizpah Chapter, Eastern Star, and St. Aidan Anglican Church. In keeping with her wishes, there will be a Graveside Service at Rosedale Cemetery on Wednesday March 11, 2009 at 1:30 pm. Following the Graveside Service friends are invited to join the family at W. J. Jones & Son Family Centre, 262 Athabasca St. E., for a time of fellowship at 2:15 pm. Reverend Betty Bradley will officiate. Memorials to Ina Grafton Gage Home, 200 Iroquois St. E., Moose Jaw, S6H 4T3, would be appreciated. In living memory of Margaret, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. BETTY GARDINER
Mrs. Betty Gardiner, age 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday May 28, 2009. Betty was born and educated in Moose Jaw. She married Oliver Gardiner in 1957 and they lived in Regina for a time before settling in Moose Jaw. Predeceased by her parents Henry & Katie Brown, her husband Oliver, brother Charles (Lad), sister Kay, brother-in-law Russ, sister-in-law Doris, and nephew-in-law Bob Drake. Betty will be lovingly remembered by her nephew David (Bonnie) Brown and their children Tori (Mitch) and Kristen (Paul); nieces, Susan (Wayne) Johnston and their children Jeff and Stacy (Adam); Judy Drake and her children Whitney (Kevin) and Lindsay; along with great-great nieces and nephews, Rowan, Brayden, Drew, Abby and Parker. Following cremation, a Graveside Committal will be held at Rosedale Cemetery on Wednesday June 3, 2009 at 3:00 pm. Memorials in Betty's memory can be made to a charity of choice. MARGARET "MARG" EVA SEEMANN
Margaret “Marg” Eva Seemann of Moose Jaw, formerly of Mazenod passed away July 7, 2011 at the age of 72 years. Marg is predeceased by her husband Ed; one son Mark; sister Polly; brothers Peter, John and Willie. She will be sadly missed by her children Lori Seemann, Debbie (Troy), Angie (Marlo), Grant (Jeanette); eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother Tony (Vi); sister Dorothy; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Marg’s Life will be held at Church of Our Lady, 560 Vaughan St. , on Monday, July 11, 2011 at 1:30pm. Father Carlos Jimenez will be the celebrant. Prayers will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., on Sunday evening at 7:00 pm. Marg will be laid to rest beside her husband, Ed at Mazenod Cemetery at a later date. KAY JOLLY
The family of Kay Jolly sadly announces her passing on Monday, July 16, 2007 at the Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current with her family by her side. Kay was born on March 29, 1916 at Expanse, Sask. to Albert and Mary Dodds. She was predeceased by her parents, husband Bill, and son Grant, her sisters Alma, Hazel, Verna, and brothers Elmer and Harry. Kay is survived and will be missed by her son Dale and his wife Karen of St Albert, AB, her daughter, Darlene, and her husband Doug Rittinger of Swift Current, SK. She is also survived by her grandchildren Dean Jolly and his wife Christine Novosel, Garth Jolly and his wife Erin, Deanne and her husband Shawn Kenyon, Jay Rittinger and Jenna Rittinger, great-granddaughter Taylor Jolly, sisters Beryl Ash and Ferne Robb, brothers-in-law Bill Magowan and Romi Nicholson, sisters-in-law Rene Dodds, Jess Magee, Florence Jackson, and Beatrice Bjornerud and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw on Thursday, July 19, 2007 at 1:00 pm. NATALIE "DOLLY" NAGEL
Natalie “Dolly”Nagel, age 91, of Moose Jaw, passed away on April 27, 2010. Natalie F. Nagel (Bender), born September 14, 1918 in the Flowing Well district, SK. Natalie (Dolly) was born to Natalie (Pyle) and Henry Bender one of the last siblings of 10 children: Bill (Lydia), Alex (Katie), Ed (Clara), John (Alvina), Albert (Jordis), Henry, Martha (Archie), Fredia (Orlie), and Clara. She is survived by her son, Douglas (Debra), grandchildren Colleen and Robert; great-grandchildren Kierran and Karston. Natalie married Otto Nagel December 12, 1951. They came to farm in the Mossbank, SK district, where they farmed together until retiring to Mossbank. She was a member of the Royal Purple and taught Sunday School. Natalie was a homemaker all her life and loved to cook, garden, dancing, and visiting. She took a lot of pride in her personal appearance. She had an infectious laugh and smile. Natalie only received a grade eight education, but it didn’t stop her, her brothers and sisters from being very talented musicians, carpenters, building movers, or from running successful businesses, which she was very proud of. She was a very hard worker, always ready to tackle anything. Fixing up any home she lived in was not a problem. She did her own renovations, always making sure she had a presentable home. “A hard days work never hurt anyone”, was her motto. As a young girl she loved to play softball. Natalie spent many hours watching ball, hockey, right up to her passing. She was a loving, caring person. She looked after her husband Otto for many years during his illness. Natalie loved her family very much. She will be sadly missed, especially by her family. The Funeral Service will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Saturday May 1, 2010 at 1:00 pm. Pastor John Duerksen will officiate. Interment will take place at the Mossbank Cemetery. Memorials to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St. W., Moose Jaw, S6H 2M2, the Sask. MAE BATTY
MRS. A. MAE BATTY of Moose Jaw passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at the age of 94 years. Born at Killarney, Manitoba on December 3, 1915, Mae married Jack E. Batty in May of 1940. In July of 1947 they purchased their own grocery store in Moose Jaw known as Batty’s Fine Foods (corner of Hall and 3rd Avenue N.E.). After selling the store, Mae worked for many years with Evan’s Florist. Predeceased by her parents, and her husband Jack in 2002, she is survived by her caring son, Robert Samuel – Moose Jaw, and nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to join the family in sharing the memory of Mae’s life on Saturday, June 19, 2010 from 1:30p.m. – 3p.m. at the W. J. Jones & Son Family Centre, 262 Athabasca St. E. Cremation will take place with memorialization in the family plot in Assiniboia. For those so wishing, memorials may be made to Mizpah Chapter of the Eastern Star. Helen Sara Harlton of Athabasca Towers in Moose Jaw passed peacefully with her daughters by her side on October 24, 2009. Helen is predeceased by her husband, George; her parents, Jim and Ada Sutherland; granddaughter, Kendra; son in law, Roger; brother, George; sister in law, Arlene; as well as several of her husband George’s family. Helen will be sadly missed by her daughters, Marilyn(Ron) Mountenay and their family, Merle(and the late Roger Thomason) and their family; nephews, Carl Sutherland, and Brad (Pat) Sutherland and their family; sister in laws Helen Potts, Della Richardson, Martha Code; as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday October 28th at 1:30 p.m. in the W.J. Jones and Son Funeral Chapel with Linda Owens officiating. Helen will be laid to rest beside her husband George at Stony Beach Cemetery.
